Nurse isn't a dirty player, well he certainly wasn't whilst he was with us anyway. Spent too long at Barnet I guess :dis:

Nurse Is not and never was a dirty player. He was extremely upset that his poorly timed challenge had injured the player

Never saw enough in either game to suggest Luton deserved a big win.

scott flinders signs on for us

Really pleased with this signing, what we needed. Ingham is steady enough, but he is winding down. I am delighted he re-signed though, he genuinely cares, we need those types.

Burton's Adam McGurk to sign for us tomorrow according to the local rag. Have no reason to disbelieve that one.

I reckon we have one of the better back up keepers in the league in Ingdog and if Flinders can rediscover the form that meant Hartlepool fans really really rated him- it seems last year was a blip- we should be alright defensively.

Just need to find a striker who can get us 15+ to go with Vadaine and Hyde and we should be looking alright I think.
Oh, and a right back/right wing back

:fish: definitely, your amazing form shone through over those two lowkey, definitely-not-controversial matches in that Christmas period.

I maintain, you will not earn more points than we will in our two matches this season. Take it to the betting thread if you will.

Rubbish comment. Where did you finish, where did we finish? The pitch was the same for both teams. And we were playing you off the park at your place, 2-0 up until your fucking wanker wide man Jon Nurse snapped Smudge's leg with one of the worst tackles I've ever seen. And then your crackpot know-it-all dimlow of a manager kicked off on the touch lines and tried arguing that it wasn't a red card.

Pretty embarrassing really.

We just need some better wing backs tbh, centrally we've always been good, it's that real lack of quality wing backs to replace Davies and Oyebanjo, they covered the lack of pace in the centres and allowed them to just get on with doing what they do best. We tightened up more when we got better guys in on loan back end of last season.

Our biggest issue is being saddled with the dross.

yep, lowe and mccombe kept the attackers out of the centre, davies and banjo had the pace and strength to stop threat on the flanks and what did come across was gladly plucked from the skies by popey.

halliday is a tad too shaky for me but still a good option, but we do need a lwb. I would like to see carson given a go as I feel he could do a good job despite being a touch on the short side. but lowe, winfield and mccombe in front of flinders sounds quite solid to me[/QUOTE]

Until the horrific leg break at your place we were absolutely battering you. Had Nurse not been a horrible dirty bastard we'd have won that game 4-0 at least.

:fish: yeah, so dirty that he was on tears walking off the pitch be I confronted by Luton Neanderthals hurling coins and verbal abuse at him - while he held his hands up and apologised to them. Yeah, dirty player he is.

I've never once argued that you weren't better than us over 46 games, so fair play well done. You won the title. But we both know that match should've been abandoned, regardless of whether the surface was the same it shouldn't have been played on full stop. I know that, you know that, the ref knew that, your crooked captain knew that. It's a disgrace that that was even started and the key example of how BT Sport coverage runs that division. Literally any other time that game is called off.

I also don't know where you're getting this 'played off the park' nonsense from. The game was fairly even, no way was it going to be a big win.

But I'll maintain, we'll do you this season, atleast once. Put your money where your mouth is open the betting thread of you're so adamant that I'm wrong,

Talk on our forum of full-back Danny Holmes going to Newport. Don't know if any truth in this, Exiles fans?

Big loss if true but also explains the signing of Hoyte. I get the impression we are playing tough with David Stephens and holding out for a fee

Of course if it was the other way around, and a Luton player had scythed down one of Barnet's most influential players, their fans would remain silent.*

*Actually, that's not far wrong. Your fans were close to being outnumbered that day.

If Barnet get in the top half, I'll be amazed. And if your fans think you should be doing better than finishing mid table, I think you may get a bit of a reality check this season - remember you won the weakest Conference in years. That would be an exceptional achievement for you.

It had to be. Luton weren't in it.

How has this turned into an argument about the Luton v Barnet games over 18 months ago!

Luton were the much better side that year and to me in both games, the 2nd one can't really be called a game but I do think Luton adapted to the swimming pool better (anyone remember Marsh-Brown's swing and miss ending with him sliding on his arse 15 yards).

For once we don't look like relegation fodder (on paper) but unfortunately League 2 looks as strong as it has for a while (on the whole rather than 2/3 higher quality teams/money bags).

Oh, and a right back/right wing back

Never re-found the form he hit in league 1.

Last couple of seasons have been very inconsistent. Prone to an error, but equally as prone to pulling off a worldie save.

Hope he has a mare when we visit though, I haven't seen us score at Bootham yet!!

I think our fans have seen more of league two in the past 5-10 years than Luton fans so they should be reasonable judges of how well we will fare.
The squad we start this season with is streets ahead of the one that started three seasons ago and contains much of the squad that showed at least mid table form for the last half of that season. Our attacking options are much improved and our kids have developed significantly, we have a manager in Martin Allen who knows how it works and his signings so far have been good. Add to that the sale of Underhill makes us significantly richer so we are in a good place financially.
The Dembele signing completes the jigsaw for our squad this season and I'm happy that for the first time in many years we go into a league two season with the same manager as the previous season, a side that has been strengthened by the new signings and formed before pre-season starts. If this isn't a season for fans to be optimistic of achieving better than bottom half then I don't know what is. That said, unless we have an improvement of Wycombe proportions then we are unlikely to be a worry for anyone expected to finish in the play offs.

That's lovely and all, but again it's not what I'm actually saying here. I'm saying that we will beat you atleast once, not finish higher than you or even in the top half. Also, thanks for not denying that your fans behaviour that day was truly disgusting.

But please, by all means continue to prove the fact that Luton fans have a hugely inflated opinion of themselves and their club. Didn't take you too long to bring attendances into the argument did it?

How dare a fan of little old Barnet confront a fan of the MASSIVE Luton Town FC!

You don't have the right to talk to him.
Only fans of #MASSIVE clubs are correct in everything they say, obviously. :db:

I think that was the exact moment that the referee started to have doubts about letting the game carry on...

I'm happy with the signing, we still need a target man though. Squads coming along nicely.
