We may be making cuts but I think we're still making him an improved contract offer so if he's not keen on that then I'd be surprised if Oldham or Swindon are offering hugely more than that. If he does go to another L2 club then it'll be Salford offering him silly money probably.

We may be offering him more money but it’s the fact Holdsworth won’t budge on his offer of a 1 year deal which is making his departure almost certain. Pathetic stubbornness from the clown that we call our football director. Devitt wants more security. All a club needs to do is match our offer financially and offer him 2 or 3 years and we’re out of the picture.

This info is from the journo Alan Nixon who is usually pretty reliable.

Still I expect a League 1 club or Hibs to come in for him.

Just googled him and couldn't believe how ugly he is. Good player though.

Been linked to Paul McCallum who's turned down a new deal with Eastleigh. Got 26 goals in the National League last season.

Had him before when we had awful owners and he wants to move closer to London.

Ben Whitfield and Connell Rawlinson both made available for transfer. Rawlinson in all honesty is not league standard but could do OK in the Conference. Whitfield is highly talented but doesn't seem to make the most of it, if he was prepared to knuckle down and not believe his own hype he could do a very good job for someone.

There’s only a couple of clubs in the SPL that are a step up from this level.

Had two chances with us has Ben, clearly got the talent but both Aspin then Askey didn’t rate him, Aspin only resigned him last summer because Smurf wanted him didn’t he?

Shame as such a waste so far.

Jacob Mellis has ‘verbally agreed’ a new contract, don’t say anything unless it’s signed and sealed IMO.

Also we have took Lee Glover from Doncaster to be our new assistant manager, which seems like another shrewd move.

Yeah should have a bit to play with, a lot of high earners were released and we sold Van Veen and Crooks in January so I imagine we’ll have a reduced wage bill from last year.

How did Elsnik do for you lot?

We sent him back for Grant in January and it turned out to be a bad decision, he did well for us and a lot would like him back now.

That’s 3 L2 clubs he’s been loaned to. Was good for us until he got injured.

Would have thought he’d have progressed to L1 by now.

Which begs the question what was all that shit or call it lies about Gibbons and Miller as surely there would be 4 people on the transfer list
The dangers of keyboard warriors putting 2 and 2 and getting 5.

I already posted above I liked Miller in the pressing role, far better suited than Pope.

We know he's a cock and has issues clearly but instead of people making up shite about him it would be a pleasant change for fans to get behind the team.

Askey is no muppet have no doubt Miller and Gibbons would be on that list.

Someone on our forum reckons we are in for Tyler Garrett, just released but Donny. LB who hasn’t play that many games in his career. Unsure.

Someone else says we’ve offered terms to James Hanson. Wouldn’t get goals but would be a good signing for this level imo. Injured a lot though recently so would be a bit of a risk.

Happy to see those two listed, and Gibbons and possibly Miller staying. Whitfield is a bit of a puzzle as he has the skill, but fails to deliver and struggles to last 90 minutes.

There you go. Gibbons is an odd one as he disappeared from the side and did Miller so we will never know either way I guess.

Glad Gibbo is staying though as he is a good player.

Alex Jones....
Wouldn't say no to him. Ok, he's a few years removed from that good loan spell with the Vale and he did sod all with a goal shy Cambridge team this season, but we turned Jordan Bowery into a serviceable L2 striker after he was stuck on the scrapheap at Orient. Optimistic with some service, he could turn back into a 10-15 goal striker.

Saying that, it's probably not him.

I’d be shocked if Devitt stays in League 2. At 28 this could be his last opportunity to get a move to a higher level, be that SPL or League 1.

Going to Swindon or any team in this league is a sideward step.

I don't know a lot about Devitt but as one of your better players I have to agree that I doubt he would move to either us or Oldham unless we were giving him a significant pay increase, or a longer contract.

Hibs are definitely the likely destination. To Conker's point, I presume you are talking about Rangers or Celtic? I'd have to disagree and believe that Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are probably league 1 standard at least. Not that I want to start a dull discussion on the standard of Scottish football, the club size and attendance threads are more than dull enough!

A guy on Twitter’s Dads mates Brothers wife’s workmates Son says we’ve signed a striker from League 1, it’s all been signed but it’s not gonna be announced until 2 weeks on Thursday.

Watch this space!!

Macaulay Gillesphey has left the club by mutual consent.

News & Star implying it was the player's wish to move on 'for a different kind of challenge'.

Fair point but I reckon he’s a good signing for any L2 team - we need more goals from Midfield too.
