Eze just went for 20m and Ollie got EFL player of the year and would've got the golden boot if he was on pens. Clearly as a L1 side last year you know f all.
Eze played for QPR Watkins for Brentford Clearly you know f all they are championship clubs

Shall we have a look where they both finished? You've literally just confirmed, if it was needed, you're a troll.

Ignore the XG rating. Ignore the goals and assists. Ignore those those in the past like Gareth Bale who also secured the EFL player of the year.. or ignore the troll.

Both championship clubs, one is miles better than the other. The worse of the pair just got sold for £20m.

Rightly or wrongly, top end Championship players who are 24 and under are valued at £20m+ these days.

I find it strange that people are still shocked by it.

I never said they are not but 30+ I was telling him players get 10% signing on fees......he came up with 5%

Watkins won’t go for £30M. I’d expect somewhere between £22-25M but the fee (if/when he goes) will be ‘undisclosed’ anyway, so it’s a bit of a moot point, anyway.

I refer you to the opening post of the 37 page Bingham thread...

Signs for Pools...With all due respect to Mansfield fans,,,, what planet does your manager live on to let a footballer like that leave? I can only suspect he has no plans to alter your style of play

Lazy? He worked his nuts off last season. He’ll fuck up a few L1 midfielders this season as well.

Only going off what I saw from him in a Vale shirt over two seasons. He had too many games where he looked half arsed, like he wasn't really up for it. But on his day he could be superb. Wouldn't want him back at Vale, though I'm not denying he's a very good player at League Two level.

What was Josh Koroma like? Good enough for L1?

I would say so. He works best as a wide forward. He’s not particularly quick but he is a bit of a throwback dribbling wizard-type. Archetypal ‘bit of magic player’. Expect him to have little impact in some games, but in others he’ll leave a few defenders on their arses and spank the winner into the top corner from 30 yards. Works hard enough and can cross reasonably well with both feet. Not sure he’ll ever have the necessary physicality for the Championship, but should eventually thrive in League One.

Someone ITK at Brentford has just posted on their forum re Ollie Watkins
"Don't think we are going to settle for £25m all-in. No way.

£25m as a min up-front, with at least £5-8m in add-ons I would have thought. And then a tasty sell-on percentage"

I say 'urry up and get it done so we can have that lovely windfall and ease to promotion this season :ds:

But that’s the very problem with the salary cap - you can’t spend it even if you’ve got it.

you can only settle for what a team is willing to pay. You will find out that Brentford may settle for a lower offer with added clauses written in. Exeter will only be getting a percentage of the main fee.
Then you will be charged 20% vat out of that........wait for it a further deduction of 40% capital gains tax.
The season starts Saturday week so all the decent players who you can get in on and who will be attracted to go to Exeter will mean you are fishing not in a small pond, but a puddle.
No promotion for you yet again.....always next season

Pretty sure you can spend what you generate through transfers(?) - that's how Peterborough brought in Clarke-Harris under the cap, after they sold Toney.

Yeah, Exeter could re-invest that money by buying players, they just need to make sure they still stay under the cap - that's where the difficulty is.

If a player is sold for £1m and is on £2k/week, the Club can go and spend £1m on another player if they wanted but could only offer £2k/week.

Must be right tight arses then!

The cap is only £1.5m. If you buy a player for actual cash he’ll expect, rightly, a salary commensurate with that fee. Then you have the problem of having a possible Billy Big Bollocks in your squad who is earning 3 x what the others are on.

If you’re only going to sign players who are happy with £1300pw then you’ll not get much of an upgrade.

Yet another bonus of having 4-5 home grown players in your starting 11. The only player on a sizeable wedge is Ajose I believe. Aaron Martin was on a lot but we released him, as was Moxey. I'd imagine Law is on a decent chunk too. But we're way below the cap in general

With all due respect, you have no idea who is decent at this level. You didn't even know any of your new signings existed until they signed for Bolton.

Corporation Tax at 19% on net profits for the accounting period.

The £3-5m windfall we get would go into the club's turnover and form part of the P/L in any one business year...

This financial year will also be a good year to receive a windfall as much of it will be used on what would otherwise be hefty losses. And I think it was suggested you could use losses in the following year as well (?) to reduce tax.

I think you can by amortising a players transfer fee over a certain period.

I actually agree to some extent.
I dont think we should spend heavily this season regardless of how much cash we have. I think we should run down any existing long term contracts we have (most of which are expiring next summer,) and then build a league winning side next summer.

The salary cap will become an issue for us (we voted against it obviously,) but there are ways that organisations can work around these things.
