I actually agree to some extent.
I dont think we should spend heavily this season regardless of how much cash we have. I think we should run down any existing long term contracts we have (most of which are expiring next summer,) and then build a league winning side next summer.

The salary cap will become an issue for us (we voted against it obviously,) but there are ways that organisations can work around these things.

If we get £4m from the Watkins sale, that will only mean £1.3m for the playing budget, split over 3 years, is only an extra £430k a year. Don't think the cap is going to be overly problematic, considering we aren't close to it currently.

Lazy? He worked his nuts off last season. He’ll fuck up a few L1 midfielders this season as well.

Lazy was perhaps the wrong word to use. But at times he definitely looked like he wasn't giving his all. He likes a sulk basically, and doesn't seem to like staying at a club for too long. Ability wise he can't be questioned at League Two level. But I don't think be would be the best bloke to have around if you want a good dressing room atmosphere at all times between the players. On his day he's a good player, but I think he believes he's actually much better than he really is.

Think Wellens is making him captain this season. He was MotM in virtually every game he played last season. Even won PotY ahead of Doyle!

We’re announcing a signing at 4pm. It’s probably Lewis Page who’s been on trial.

Confirmed.

He turned down Pl*mouth to sign for us which makes it even better.
Pleased with the signing...He’s had some bad injuries so we’ve got to hope he’s over those. Charlton fans really rated him in their last L1 season so if we can get 75% of that form then he will be excellent for us.

We offered him a short term contract because of his injury record. Seems a decent player. Obviously wanted a longer contract than what we offered.

Seems like my £1m+ prediction for Chrisene was slightly over estimated although the sell ons definitely make up the short fall. Higher than the other figures chucked around by the other Exeter lads on here.

It was around 800k upfront...

The initial fee was not £800k. It was quite a bit less although still a significant amount for us.

you can only settle for what a team is willing to pay. You will find out that Brentford may settle for a lower offer with added clauses written in. Exeter will only be getting a percentage of the main fee.
Then you will be charged 20% vat out of that........wait for it a further deduction of 40% capital gains tax.

I take it you aren't an accountant?

Where did you hear that? Pretty sure Tagg said we were voting against it...?
Does not really matter top and bottom of it you either recruit local talent which you are doing very well. Or you pay fees but you do not improve as a club.
Keep producing and selling players you will slowly get better.

From a very reliable source. I'm not going to say who though so it's up to whether you believe me.

i know your not getting 5m from the sale of watkins

We will if he goes for about £35m :)

The more realistic figure is around £3.5m but it obviously depends on who's interested and what they're prepared to pay.

Not according to Chrisene's dad. What is your source that's more reliable than him?
Tarzan is definitely in the know as he’s called a few things in the past before they were in the public domain....

Your source wasn't Chrisene's dad though was it? It was some anonymous poster on exeweb who knows someone who knows his dad. What's that, third hand information?

My source is rather more reliable than that.

We look to be adding another to the ex-Bradford club and probably signing Sean Scannell very soon. Bantams, I assume he is finished?

Another one who arrived on large wages - reportedly £5k per week.

I always struggled to identify Scannell’s qualities. He isn’t quick, he rarely scores and hardly assists. He’s just all-round, MEH. Not sure if it’s an attitude thing, but looking at his CV, you’d certainly think he’d be too good for this league - IF he manages to stay fit - which has been his problem for a while now.

Oldham's recruitment has seemed hit and miss this summer - they've just signed Kyle Jameson from Fylde. He was (by all accounts) crap for them last season, and looked very far from the finished article when on loan with us the season before.
They also brought in Bobby Grant who is shit.

Are they one of the teams likely to be in a relegation battle, or am I just reading too much into it?

I reckon they’ll finish rock bottom personally

Seem to be another basket case, probably similar to us under Norman and destined for 20th or something as seem to have degraded further year on year.

If he is so good why did you let him go?

I've always thought he was pretty good but not sure about belting....hope I'm wrong though.

Just sold Bez Lubala to Blackpool. Usual undisclosed fee. Those in the know will tell me its somewhere between £5k and £5million.

It does mean we have lost our two top scorers from last season and not replaced them. If Nadesan gets injured ( he was out for about two months last season) our forward line will be Hemel Hempsteads from last season! Not that I'm panicking you understand.:woot:
