A Carlisle fan who is in the know from our fans messageboard said that we're after him.
 You have got to be kidding me?

I’ve just checked to see what you’re on about and I can’t stop laughing.

Look through his posts and all he ever posts is made up nonsense. He did say we were signing Hayden but so did a lot of people. He also said Elliot Watt was done a few weeks and in the same post named Wyke and Jake Young. Then looking back to January we were signing Isaac Oloafe, Joe White, and Tommy Leigh according to him.

A particular highlight was when he said the American takeover had fallen through

“In the know” :fl:

Believe they transferred ownership of the club to his son so will no doubt be getting funded by Andy Pilley just not directly if that makes sense. They did show some signs of life last few months of the season in L1 but was too late for them by then so it’s not beyond the realm they are competitive at least.
Yeah, son Jamie now Chairman of Fleetwood. Leaves you cold but it is what it is, no point in getting uptight about it. No idea how to call this coming season, on the face of it the club still have some decent players. Wouldn't be surprised if Wiredu went, he's a quality player for us but the club could sell him for a few bob. Behind the scenes our Academy is flourishing and expect to see more youth players blooded into the 1st team. Charlie Adam has established himself and has got the backing of everyone at the club.No problems, only £6m loss last year.......

Decent coach /manager isn't he ?

Sure I read that you would have stayed up last season with his PPG since taking over , it was just the terrible form before him that did for you last season .

He runs about a lot, is good on the ball and he fucked his knee up by stepping on the ball against Derby.

You can't question his workrate, but he doesn't score many goals. He played more games for Shrewsbury the season before.

It’s certainly a left field rumour in some ways, however we do like an unpolished gem that we can see potential with. As for a six figure substantial bid, who knows, as you say he doesn’t score a lot of goals.

Edit, just seen that your local journo Jon Palmer says the bid has been accepted by Cheltenham.

JP wouldn't post something like that if he wasn't certain, so you can guarantee it's true.

As I said, if he's over his knee injury then he'll be an excellent signing (he plays better than his stats suggest). It was a very nasty knee injury though.

Flynn took him on loan for us a few seasons ago! and he was total garbage for us and flynn binned him so i don't think flynn has any confidence in him whatsoever.

I thought it was Rowberry who took him to Newport.

Either way, he was at Torquay under Gary Johnson, and it appears they didn't get on there.

Flynn took his pants off the other day and wondered why his elbow was where his arse should have been.

Don't know what the other Lincoln lot think, but seem a bit of a third striker move and back-up to House because he's the pressing forward in the side rather than being a main striker (which he can do but we have Tyler Walker and last season Joe Taylor).

Not sure what you lot are thinking on a fee but there are some fanciful suggestions being bandied about at your end! Significant to us certainly isn't Alfie May's fee or £400k. Our highest initial down payment for a player is £150k, rising to £300(ish)k on promotion/goals for Akinde and that was 6 years ago.

I'm expecting around £150k-£200k. He has more experience than Will Goodwin at League 1 level, who went for £400k, and still has two years left on his deal.

Our board are notoriously naive, but they're not stupid.

That Draper is a decent prospect for your lot , he will go for a good few in a few years barring a bad injury you would have thought - a young player who is very good physically seems difficult to find these days .

Yes mate, I think he is both of those things you said. He's learning his trade as as a new manager and in a short time brought stability to the team. No magic wand, hope that with a full year under his belt he can Fleetwood moving in the right direction. Cheers

Any Morecambe views on JJ McKiernan? We've just announced his signing.

Yeah, he's progressing ok at the minute. He's got the physicality of an older player, just needs to tighten up technically and from a fitness point of view, he looks like he's running through treacle at times and hasn't got the L1 fitness level yet, probably only 60 minutes or so.

Would have been nice to see him back but there will be no meltdown, not on here anyway. Does mean our Twitter hashtag will be infested with Carlisle fans, however.

Didn't even know we were in for him, I mean he's been mentioned a lot on our forums as someone we 'should' go after but this was widely dismissed as unrealistic.

Wyke, Armstrong, Kelly and Butterfield should give us some of the best attacking choices in the division, however as we saw with Armstrong last season there's no point in having a striker who knows where the net is if you can't get the ball into danger areas.

I honestly didn’t expect us to go in for Wyke but I’m absolutely over the moon.

I said further back in this thread he’s the type of player who can turn a team into promotion contenders and he certainly will give us more of a chance. I saw him last season and he’s still league 1 quality easily.

I don’t think there should be any Bradford meltdown however, they still one of the most priven strikers at this level in Cook. My only advice would be to put Carver on ignore if you haven’t already.

Would’ve loved him back but until we shift Vadaine Oliver and a couple of others I feel like our hands are tied at offering the big guns anything.
Squad wise we also would’ve had to change things massively to accommodate him, either 442 with Cook which we never play or rotate him and Cook meaning an expensive top striker sits on the bench every week with the high number of false 9/number 10’s we have.
So yes, very jealous but not surprised that we can’t compete having already filled our squad on long term, not very good, hard to move on contracts.

Think the Daily Record in Scotland had said Mansfield and Orient were looking at Paton too. Looks good from his highlight reel but then pretty much anyone does. How the Scottish Championship stacks up in comparison to L1 or L2 is harder to gauge.

Clough definitely went up to Scotland to watch him so some interest from us.

Not sure we can afford him, unless our deal for Brunt falls through. Cannot see us spending six figures on two separate players.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
We were after Wyke since November but his wages at Wigan were horrendous and impossible to get near.

He then left Wigan and as I said other day he’s gone thinking or hoping someone else can match similar to his wages……nothing has happened and he’s dropped his possible options and level willing to pay and agreed to come.

It’s why I never get that fussed by mass signing early as better can be available later in window when options run out.

If they stay fit and get in form Carlisle has some bloody strong striking options now…..big key is splashing that cash now on a creative player….a lot of strength and height there but it’s useless if no one can deliver in a ball to it.
