But that's the blackmail, isn't it? Give us what we want or you get nowt from us.

Exactly how they behaved when they forced U23 teams in to the EFL trophy.

It's an attempt at the richer clubs ring-fencing more power disguised as a support package to everyone below. Liverpool and MUFC won't propose something that they won't massively benefit from.

They both have American owners, a country that has an elite league in every sport where the same teams compete year on year, which is what the PL will become if the Project Big Picture comes about. They won't be football clubs either, they'll be franchises.

Or do you explore an alternative treatment rather than just plump for the last resort option?

Nobody disagrees.....In all due respect Barrow will never ever get to the premier league. Would you not rather get enough turnover where you eventually build a new ground...Have facilities that will benefit the community, cover your wages each year and turn a small profit, getting stronger each year

Why would you just accept the first offer with no negotiation?

If they did away with the 25% bit and stuck to an amount - £250m - then clubs might be amenable. 25% is fine until you consider the value of the PL TV money should/when the big hitters decide to leave and/or clubs start negotiating their own TV deals individually. That’s their ultimate aim - controlling their own TV rights and broadcasting their games themselves.

Man Utd reckon they’ve got over 250m fans in China alone. How much are Sky/BT/other broadcasters likely to pay for games involving the also rans with no big 6/9.

Slippery slope.

Barrow might never get to the Prem, but technically they could. Take away that dream and you lose a lot from lower league football.

When Leicester were in league 1 did anyone think it was realistic for them to be champions of England 4 years later? When Bournemouth were in league 2 on -15 points or whatever it was did anyone think it was realistic for them to get to and stay in the Prem for several years? For most clubs it will never happen but you shouldn't just mean it's ok to kill off any slight chance it might.

Brentford were in L2 not long ago, they were 30 minutes away from the PL a few months ago.

In the 2002-2003 season, Swansea were 21st in this league. Hull City finished mid-table and have since been in the prem.

In 20 years time, teams currently in this league will have ventured to the promised land.

Plenty of clubs can survive without a bail out. And those that can't will re-emerge under more sustainable ownership models.

Fuck the bail out. It's not needed. Or better yet the EPL just fucks off altogether and leaves the football pyramid for real football fans.

Well West Ham have said they are against the idea - probably for obvious reason given their usual finishing position in recent season.

So are you volunteering Bolton to get relegated to the National league?

Didn't think so.

Can't see 14 Prem clubs backing it, most of them shit themselves about relegation as it is let alone if you take away parachute payments. And that's without adding in the loss of 2 home games. Don't see why they need to reduce the numbers anyway. Italy, Spain and France all have 20 teams and they do alright.

Can see the league cup being ditched at some point, it's been treated as second rate for years now, but why ditch the Community Shield? It's literally one match, and raises money for good causes.

That is one possibility, but even if they stay up the line it is a back door way for the top six to get more European games seems logical.

So all this fuss about too many games putting us behind other nations in terms of fitness etc is rubbish.

I guess they go down the "it's more competitive line" - well maybe this season but it wasn't last season!

Like you say the league cup is like a reserve competition unless you're Man City for most teams even outside the Premier league.

I suppose they want to scrap the Community shield so 2 of the teams can play some money making pre-season game in Asia or the USA.

Your post seems to accept that two extra teams should lose their place in the football pyramid and, potentially, go out of existence (as that will mean losing EFL funding and sponsorship deals). Well, I think that is a horrible scenario and just like your support for B teams at this level it seems you only support it as long as it doesnt entail a problem for Bolton Wanderers. "No greater love than this. To lay down your friends for your life".

Crawley Town will have very little say in this. I can't see the Liverpool board saying hold on. Let's ask Crawley Town what they think. We will have one little league 2 vote and nobody else will listen to us anyway and we are so small I can't honestly disagree with that attitude. However, I do take offence when I'm expected to be grateful for being stitched up by those with money.

Hang on i dont support a B team never have never will i supported getting help by the way of loaned players
and training facilities...
See you like others are stuck in this romantic notion that football should never change.
If Bolton finished bottom 4 and this was agreed....then so be it

Crawley at this time have one share/vote exactly the same as liverpool

No clue on Crawleys owners or finances, but can you turn down a couple of million per season

Macclesfield would have survived with that amount of money.

No ones saying Parry plan is perfect, but something needs to be done

What you don't seem to grasp is that if this goes through, football will never change. Same 6 sides competing at the top, same six sides in Europe every season. Pointless.

Leyton Orient chairman all in favour of this. Failing to see the bigger picture methinks.
Yes more money is needed, but not this. This is not a bailout due to Covid, it's a long term plan.

That is already happening now, i think the so called six will say take it or leave it.
No coincedance that it was published this month.....Parry will have been hatching this plan since the day he took over.

It certainly needs looking at/ negotiating, but the top six will win everything anyway for the next 20 years bar a freak season
