Thinking about it? It's been nailed on for ages that. Both the Bowyer bit and the Appleton bit. Think Neville's just waiting for the dust to settle so he can pull the trigger. He's touchy about his reputation of his frequent hiring and firing of managers.

Appleton would have been around the same youth team at United as Neville and co wouldn’t he? Checks out if so.

Don’t think Bowyer can have many complaints if they do sack him. When we played them they just spent the whole game launching long balls mixed in with a bit of shithousery from Ash Hunter. Not exactly lived up to the money spent.

When we came down we went into the season with a striker force of James Vaughan, Eoin Doyle and Clayton Donaldson who’d just been in the championship, we probably had the biggest budget in the league and all Bowyer did was loan out Doyle(goal a game at Swindon) and hoof it up to Donaldson. Donaldson got injured and we were about third tbf, although we should have been minimum with that squad and instead of changing hoofed it up to Vaughan who decided it wasn’t for him and left the club after 5 months in January and with us a big bill.

Bowyer fluked one promotion I’ll never let anyone tell me different. Utterly useless he is and we’d probably be up by now if we’d have gone down a decent enough route. Funny enough a number of our fans mentioned Evatt when he was still at Barrow in the national league.

Shame if Salford get rid though, match made in heaven.

Just reading those forward options you had then it’s criminal really that he couldn’t get a tune out of that. For managers like him there’ll always be a club to give him a job as some stop-gap type but it’s increasingly clear he’s not a long term option.

He should've had his coaching badges revoked for playing Doyle as a number 10. Absolutely awful manager.

Yeah think there were a couple of years between them, they're good mates and we usually headed over to Hotel Football for a few days and played Salford in a friendly.

Given the relationship between them, and Salford being where he lives, it wouldn't be a surprise in that respect but I'm not sure he'd want a L2 gig. I think he was frustrated at times here that he couldn't get L1 players to do what he's coached PL ones to do.

We've released a statement saying that an approach has been made to our top target's current club to ask for permission to speak to them. I imagine this is most likely Hird, but could also be Williamson or Wild but the latter will be more unlikely.

Can't really see the logic in putting that statement out. If it's a done deal, tell us that. If it's not and we get turned down again, then everyone's well aware that the person we do appoint was far from first choice.

250k and a promise not to sign any of our players for the next two seasons will do it

Johnnie Jackson set to be appointed Wimbledon manager.
Now confirmed. Seems a good fit to me. Wimbledon since Ardley left them have just appointed internally apart from Bowen at the end of last seaosn as the last throw of the dice. So a totally new fresh face will do them good, thought he did ok at Charlton but got found out at the end.

There's a local journo who covers Gateshead a lot over on Twitter said as he understands it it's not Williamson either.

He’s definitely split opinion with our fan base, personally I’m not sure he was found out. Recruitment was poor last season and we’ve ended up with a lot of poor footballers as a result. We were second bottom when he took charge, near on impossible to get us near the play-offs with the players at his disposal, all things considered, to get us comfortably mid-table was good going, I think he earned his own summer window.

Sure he gets things wrong and is still learning but he’s only been doing the job 6 months. I think without any interference he can do a good job at Wimbledon.

It's gonna be someone's Grandad and they're actually paying compo to his local bowls club.

What about Mr PotatoHead from Bromley, seems to be linked with everyone these days.

Not for me. Also think the Boreham Wood manager is overrated as well, they've obviously got a decent budget but fail to make the playoffs more often than not. He's got a cushy number there and he'd have been sacked off at any other club with some of their finishes.

Being linked with Crawley but, to be honest, doesn't do it for me...mind you, bring his son, Freddie, with him and I'd bite your hand off.
