Can't see a huge amount of managers fancying running Hartlepool to be honest, not with their track record and where they are in the league. Add to that the squad they've got currently, and no window to improve it.
6 months graft and a payoff at the end of it what's not to like.

There'll be plenty on the dole looking to get back into work, even a contract to the end of the season is better than nowt. If they keep Pools up, they're in the window for a better deal either there or elsewhere.

Confirmed as Bloomfield by Wycombe.

Genuinely surprised to be honest. I wouldn't think he's done anywhere near enough yet to justify moving up a division to side looking upwards - our form has picked up since the turn of the year, but that's because we've invested in pretty much signing a new team. We're more solid defensively but have yet to click in an attacking sense.

Not to mention that one of the appeals for him coming here was that he's based in Suffolk and the 30 minute drive to work is much more convenient for him and his family life, even more so for a managerial role where the hours are clearly far greater than for a player.

For a guy who was brought in with no experience, he's been given a lot of trust and financial backing to bring in his own staff and sign so many players - six were brought in in January on two and a half year deals, all with a transfer fee too. It's a real kick in the teeth for him to walk out so quickly and I doubt he'd ever get a good reception back here to be honest.
I wouldn't say ever get a good reception.

When Paul Simpson left us for Preston after two successive promotions he was called all sorts of stuff for the apparent betrayal of leaving his home town club for a club who some of our fanbase see as a rival. It was like he'd shagged your wife and walked off with your dog. His name was pure dirt in some quarters.

Roll on 15 years to his second appointment here and there was still plenty of talk about not wanting that Judas bastard near our club. Roll on another 12 months and he's now almost universally lauded has the second coming.

Nowt more fickle than a football fan.

Hes called 2 jags, Or something like that up here.

We never forget.

It pissed me of he manages to get on Talksport occasionally etc, I’ll never forgive him taking the opportunity to slag the stags fans off and back his mate Haslam while he attempted to kill the club live on BBC telly.

One of our fans favs Brian honour was playing against him years ago.
And was taunting him during the game saying things like.
I get so and so each week , And i own so many houses and cars.

Absolute Prick.

Better call Sol

Seriously though, worth a shout, he's experience when it comes to getting more than expected from clubs in the mire.
Actually hearing Sol’s name thrown about a few times, not sure if anything to it or if it’s just wild speculation as usually happens whenever we looking for a job.

Waiting on the inevitable Phil Brown, Jack Ross or Ravanelli link to the job

And, let us not forget, absolutely shit at football. Indicative of the misplaced superiority complex of our backwards national team set-up in the 90s that he got 10 more caps than Matt Le Tissier. Ironic that Le Tosser is one of the few players from that era who has turned out to be an even bigger c*** than Palmer.

My inside info said its a done deal
Didnt he get sacked by Motherwell the day before the season started?

Not sure, decent win rate in England, hope it does go through, seems like a reasonable appointment to me.

Stockport County.
Think he also got sacked at Salford after getting them promoted.
Could be wrong.
Neville said he regretted sacking Alexander and admitted he got it wrong.

It's a really good appointment that for Hartlepool.

Dour bastard who sets his teams up to play relatively unambitious football. Not a bad manager by any means but it wouldn’t be who I’d pick to be the sort of rabble-rouser Pools need to get an under-talented squad to over-perform. Good appointment in the long term, though, if Raj gives him the time.

Our ex manager Ross Embleton back in interim charge at Colchester, wondering if he will still be there in 4 weeks when they visit our place……..

If Graham Alexander does end up at Hartlepool, I’d say that’s about as good as they will probably get - got Salford out of NL too, so if they do go down he’s a manager which knows the level.

I’m still expecting Rochdale to Sack Jim Bentley and reappointed Keith Hill again for the 45th time………..

Think they had a bad defeat in Europe which cost him the job.

And probably just the 5 wins in 23 games (i mean you probably discount any matches against Celtic and Rangers) but still very poor.

Would hope this is true, pretty much as good as we can hope for in our situation.

Surprised he would want to take this shit show on though

I think Hartlepool just have to accept that at this level they're always going to be a shit club with no money and no hope.

Doesn't matter who manages them, they'll never get them to be good enough.

Keep fishing.

It's just an honest fact and perhaps getting relegated and becoming an average conference team could bring back a sense of joy to the club.
