It's just an honest fact and perhaps getting relegated and becoming an average conference team could bring back a sense of joy to the club.

Pathetic wind up attempts. Honestly carver I’m embarrassed for you.

If you’re going to go fishing at least try to be half good at it.

Anyway I reckon that’s Curle finished as a football league manager. After Oldham and now Hartlepool, it’s one too many failures and no one will touch him now.

Askey it is then.
Mixed Bag with Askey, with us he was wedded to 4-3-3 and does bring his former players with him so expect ex Vale, Macc Town and York players to roll up!

Kept us up first season when he came in with 15 or so games, possibly would have had us in the play offs second season had it not been for Covid finishing it early as we were bang in form and missed the cut by .3 of a point PPG or whatever it was. Great season that with the Man City cup tie and the performances were generally good, especially at home.

The behind closed doors season it kind of unfolded for him though, we were one of the favourites after the season before and we started well but then went on a horror run, talk of players causing issues and fall outs and he was gone but doesn't take away that he was very good in that 19/20 season.

The main issue is he does seem to bring a lot of old players he knows which aren't always the best.

I got the feeling that he is better "against the odds" than when the team is expecting to do well, which may work this season for Hartlepool in terms of securing safety.

Notice Mark Goodlad is Hartlepool assistant, didnt realise he went in coaching... probably the best keeper we've had in decades, shame injuries forced him to retire.

All the best to JA, man is a glutton for punishment with some of these owners, Alkhadi, Smurthwaite, Singh and the York one. All that said he took over Vale in very similar circumstances, dogshit owner and a largely terrible squad but over the period of a few weeks got them a lot fitter and more organised and in the end we stayed up with a bit to spare, hopefully lighting strikes twice. Nothing guaranteed in football but Pools have given themselves a far better shot now.

Unfortunately his contacts are limited in terms of signings as we found when we pretty much became Macclesvale with all the old players he brought in. Fortunately for Pools many of them now either retired or gone down the pyramid.

Post from a York supporter on another forum about Askey.

Too "old-skool" for this new idiot. Too dour. Askey also wouldn't tolerate Idiot Chairman's son training with (fancied himself as a pro, but nowhere near good enough) them saying it was 'disruptive', which of course went down well.

There were further behind-the-scenes shenanigans, and Askey basically started making noises about his position being made untenable. So, they sacked him.

Idiot Chairman had this vision of "sexy football" with the sort of "coach" that Notts County have in place, and this bloke was lined up before Askey went. But, it was an experiment that went badly wrong. And hence why now the (49%) ST is trying to force (51%) Idiot Owner out.

I think Hartlepool have got the better end of the deal getting Askey rather than Alexander.

Has proven he can keep a team up and coming off the back of a really good job at York rather than failure in the SPL.

Askey has basically got to win 6 games to give Hartlepool a chance of staying up. You have to assume Crawley will pick some points up with 4 games in hand.

Stockport County.
I think Alexander looked to have more pedigree.

Askey is a National League manager to be honest.

Been away a couple of days, no shock we sack another one but I'd have sacked him just for the way we set up and played v Newport. Been a few years since I was that livid, going well back to the NL days.

Askey is a good appointment tbh, keeps us up great, if not we are already a step ahead in theory but then in practice, Singh is still about.

I've already got one eye on non league again, we stay up, budget will be shit, go down, the same thing. He knows how to work with skinflint owners and play a much more positive brand than Curle so good luck to him. As others have said we couldn't do much better and I'd rather have him than Alexander.

Easy, we only have Orient, Bradford, Northampton and Tranmere to play in March :bg:
We love gifting 3 points to struggling teams, Rochdale were such a beneficiary! Wouldn’t surprise me to see you beat us at our place! It’s the Bradford thing to do!

Same result as last season, would be rather spiffing.

Ben Garner sounding the most probable on BBC Essex this afternoon. Not convinced - two poor jobs out of three, a penchant for whinging and renowned for boring sideways passing in your own half. Hmm.

Ben Garner appointed at Colchester, seems sensible on paper.

If he carry's on like this he will probably do the 92 before me.
Good luck Colchester there!

Take out the unpleasantries from the POSF the Charlton game this season was hilarious, after beating them 1-0 he came on to discuss how 90% of clubs are anti football in the lower leagues... which is great but when their first shot on target was in the 92nd minute after knocking it around between their centre halves for 90 minutes does seem ridiculous!

Another Pep wannabe not realising pitches/players at this kind of level generally aren't up to Man City levels of football.
