Football Insider has been told by sources that Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst is under consideration for the manager's jobs at Blackpool and Port Vale.

Can't see either of them happening to be honest but it's a fairly reputable source so worth posting.

Doubt it with Vale at least. Our owner gave an interview to Radio Stoke last night and pretty much without saying it directly made it obvious it’s Andy Crosby’s job to lose. Not sure how it works at Grimsby but at Vale he’d have to be happy working under a director of football too.

Couple of rumours our end one is we approached the Cowleys first but they turned us down the other is Phillips as he still lives locally 12 miles from Walsall bit of a gamble though i think.

As much as I loved Dave Artell at the Alex and mourned his sacking even though it was needed, I don't think he would work well anywhere else, Walsall for example need to see some sharp improvements next season, Dave would need time, not sure the Saddlers fans would give him 2 seasons of mid table football before a promotion push. Think Dave needs a 'project' a league or 2 bellow to find his feet again.

18 games, won 4, drawn 4 lost 10. Some rumours he fell out with Charlie Austin who has been dropped recently. Expecting a back room shuffle as we don't have a lot of football experience. I'd love to have what you guys have at Orient, Devlin CEO, Ling DOF and Wellens. In a sliding doors moment that could have been us.

He did come across as miserable. Preferred blaming the players and lack of backing as the reason he only managed 4 win’s from 18. I’d go for Darell Clarke but that’s way too sensible for STFC.

I'm not sure his heart was in it from the start really. What with us taking forever to get his assistant manager sorted and the fact he had to dabble in the free agent market and make do with a hideously unbalanced squad wouldn't have curried any favour.

That said, some of his interviews didn't exactly help and many fans were beginning to get sick of his barbs.

Onto the next chapter. Appleton, Clarke, Artell would seem like a relatively sensible choice.

If you don't have much football experience in the Club as an earlier post has suggested, Appleton would be a very bad shout. Clubs generally look for a Head Coach nowadays and he takes that to an extreme, he has no interest whatsoever in anything other than the training pitch. Not someone to do anything on the community side, not a fan of media duties etc.

As an aside though, that even work with his Oxford connections?!

Got to agree with you. It's the prior association with Chelsea made him come over as a Bertie Big Bollocks.
