Skivo has today stepped down as Assistant Manager after nearly 20 years at the club as player, manager and asst. Manager. Taking a sabbatical but then will stay at the club in some capacity apparently. He's a club legend and all our best wishes go to him.

Marcus Stewart left Rooovers today as well..... *crosses fingers*

Well, I bet Macclesfield are gutted. If they had waited a few more days they could have gone for Jose
Why would they go for Jose 'specialist in failure' Mourinho when they can have the most intelligent man in football? He's already turned their season on its head and they must be dark horses to win the title now.

Colin Calderwood now odds on for our job, I would be pretty happy with that, far more than Daryl McMahon anyway.

I'm happy with Calderwood. I was pretty sure Bonner wasn't going to get it, but I was fearing it was going to be McMahon, not that I think he's poor or anything but he's simply untested at this level and that's not what we want right now.

My initial reaction is positive but haven’t thought about it in depth yet.

Me neither. I haven't even checked out his managerial record in detail yet but he looks a better prospect than most of the names that were linked to the job.

His win ratio at Northampton and Nottingham Forest is very positive.
I don't think Hibs fans are too keen on him though.

Aspin Under pressure big time after yesterday’s horror tactics, clashed with fans a couple of times and pressure showing in his interview.

Rumours of a dressing room not behind him although not sure how true that is, clearly fallen out with Ricky Miller who along with Rawlinson went straight to the pub at half two when not in the squad.

Yesterday was woeful tactically regardless of the fact we should have had enough to win the game on the balance of it. 45 minutes wasted with two big men up front yet no wingers. Had to do the same after 60 minutes at Macclesfield and despite a run of fixtures against teams below us we’ve won 1 in 7 of those against Yeovil.

Fans are bored and we currently sit on the same points as this point last season now. A desire to play centre backs at full back, central midfielders out wide and Anthony Kay a centre half by trade in midfield at home to strugglers.

Fans yesterday finally lost their patience as a whole and seems to now have finally lost the majority.

He has a six figure bid accepted for Sykes but he needs to go now and let a new man spend the money. Needs an experienced man to come in who can get a half decent squad playing the right way in its right position. I’d even go for the third coming of the messiah (Adams) if he would until the end of the season to allow us a proper search! Problem is Smurf would just give it Danny Pugh.

One of the greatest centre halves to put on the black and white but yet again a legend of that great 90s side tarnished by trying to manage us as with Foyle and Glover.

In normal circumstances I would be fully on board with getting rid of him. His style of play if can call it that is an eyesore and tactically we are miles behind almost every other team in the division. I also think based on what we’ve seen before any players he brings in he would not know what to do with them.

But with all that said I tend to err on keeping him for now purely on the basis of it being Smurthwaite who would be doing the hiring and firing and nothing he has ever done has given any indication he will get it right.

Calls for Cioffe's head on the forum after losing to Northampton and Cambridge. I'm not 100% sure what people expected him to do. He inherited a group of players who are mid table fodder, playing very dull football that was driving fans away. He got them playing a much more attractive style and got some results in some tricky fixtures.

Trouble is he now has a slew of injuries and Palmer got himself banned for five games (3 for sending off, 2 for foul and abusive language) and our form has plummeted. Gawd knows if there is money in the kitty for signings in the window but sacking him before he has a chance to even change the squad seems harsh but what was it Napoleon said about rather having a lucky general...?

Seems a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to a couple of bad results.
It's absolutely that. He was given no opportunity to succeed, and had us doing alright. I don't see how anyone else could have had us doing much better.

They should try and get Darrell Clarke, not sure he’d go there now.

My take is he has twice gone with what he could possibly argue are fan pleasing choices.

No question we all wanted wellens at the time and with bunn in the summer it was a familiar face, not that he was particularly fans favourite.

I reckon he will go with his own choice with this one, possibly already having something lined up. I'd make a guess whoever it is we won't of heard of him.

I think there is more too it than a couple of bad results. It was only Christmas day he was praising the team for an upturn in form

Sheridan is the favourite for the Chesterfield job. If they are genuinely interested we’ve got no chance of keeping him.

I know yours are pretty bad but Chesterfields has taken them from L1 play offs to bottom 4 in the Conference in 3 1/2 years.

Dickie makes a point, didn't Chesterfield actually 'beat' us on that recent worst owners poll? As bad as our owners are, dropping a division and a half to go to Chesterfield surely can't be the answer. Also they're supposedly broke, and they're Conference North bound, I don't see what's in it for him. He's not going to get a bigger transfer budget, or a bigger salary, or better players, or a better position or even easier owners to work under by leaving to go to Chesterfield. It's just typical bookie nonsense.

AFAIK Sheridan gets on pretty well with Holdsworth and they've worked together in the past, so he has that going for him here, even if the owners are obtuse and unsupportive, Sheridan isn't the one who has to deal with them, Holdsworth can do that on his behalf.

Holdsworth is the type of person to stay close to the Board and shit on Sheridan given the chance. He came across as a right sneaky one at times here.
