Dickie makes a point, didn't Chesterfield actually 'beat' us on that recent worst owners poll? As bad as our owners are, dropping a division and a half to go to Chesterfield surely can't be the answer. Also they're supposedly broke, and they're Conference North bound, I don't see what's in it for him. He's not going to get a bigger transfer budget, or a bigger salary, or better players, or a better position or even easier owners to work under by leaving to go to Chesterfield. It's just typical bookie nonsense.

AFAIK Sheridan gets on pretty well with Holdsworth and they've worked together in the past, so he has that going for him here, even if the owners are obtuse and unsupportive, Sheridan isn't the one who has to deal with them, Holdsworth can do that on his behalf.

Chesterfield press seem to think there could be something in it. This along with Sheridan’s post match rant where he threatened to quit. He’s clearly not happy here plus chesterfield is probably a better location for him. Might not be total nonsense.

And I agree with the Lincoln fan above, don’t trust that snake Holdsworth one bit.

Aspin suggests he may leave this week as he’s lost the fan base in his post match interview, should hear on Thursday after his meeting with Smurf.

I've got a feeling we'll plump for John Askey. I wouldn't be averse to that.

December 13th: Terry Skiverton resigns as Yeovil Town FC Assistant Manager with immediate effect to spend more time with his family.
January 4th: Terry Skiverton appointed Head of Coaching at the Yeovil Town FC Academy.

Maybe he doesn't like his family as much as he thought?

Doesn't paint Carlisle in a great light given the position of the two Clubs.

Holdsworth in.

I know yours are pretty bad but Chesterfields has taken them from L1 play offs to bottom 4 in the Conference in 3 1/2 years.

However bad chesterfields are to work for, ours are far worse.

However, Sheridan is a c*** of the highest order.

He will regret that Sheridan. He seems like someone on football manager who constantly likes to join new clubs every 6 months because they enjoy the mass bringing of players in turnaround aspect of job than settled down aspect

Carlisle is a poor job currently in terms of cash and budget, but he had players there who seem to suit how he wants to play and were hitting form and confidence.

Instead leaving to a team in total mess in a very unforgiving conference, he could be ousted in 6 months and never a guarantee of another job if drops to conf north level.

With how he goes for ex’s I hope his mrs stable!

It’s completely dumbfounding, no-one sane would get near that shower. They’ll be out of business or in the guise of an AFC soon with how they’re going.

Wonder what extensive knowledge Sheridan has of a team of players who’re probably conference north standard.

Aspin has decided after showdown talks to stay at Vale Park... just as we release next seasons season tickets!!

Hopefully this saga will make him realise things need to improve at home maybe!

That's an odd one.

Not like Chesterfield are even a big club.
I think he's fed up of commuting up to Cumbria every day. He's a bit of a homebody and this is pretty local for him. Could be his career in football up the wall though if he doesn't turn us around. I wonder if Dave Allen has promised him a war chest in the window

From what I remember reading on the Plymouth forum, back when he was managing them, he really doesn't like travel far from his home in the East Midlands. Apparently only spent two days a week in Plymouth. We're a bit more convenient for him than Plymouth but either not convenient enough or he hasn't been able to handle a tiny bit of criticism over his management style.

Can't see how this is going to end well for him though. Chesterfield are up shit creek and he'll struggle to save them from going down given how their owners make ours look good; and if they do go down, then what? He might lose his job, and then who in their right mind would appoint him after that?

For what it's worth, it's not just Sheridan that I blame for this. Our owners have now had two managers quit in the space of six months.

Not sure what he expected from life as a football manager to be honest. I think I heard he lives in Sheffield. Keith Curle also lived in Sheffield and managed us for four years, spending the majority of every week here and his family life didn't seem to suffer, he frequently had them with him.

He must know that he's taking a huge risk with his future career by walking out of a club to drop down a division after 5 successive victories. At least Steve Evans went up a division, so can be put down to ambition, Sheridan just looks untrustworthy by walking out in this manner and unless he performs miracles at Chesterfield I can't see him managing at this level again.

The bookies have installed Gary Bowyer as an early favourite. Only because he's available and managed at this level fairly recently, would be a huge boost though. Sadly, two names that haunted us all summer, Russel Slade and Lee Clark have also reared their heads again.

The list of available managers is a little better at least than it was in the summer, and our position in the league may tempt a few who wouldn't have considered us when we looked in for a relegation scrap. We can't offer any funds though, not unless EWM put their hands in their pockets, sensing a chance to increase the value of their investment.

Doesn’t always work out a job is there if you fail. Micky Adams was the best L2 manager by a good way until his disaster at Tranmere f*cked his reputation and no one touched him since. Simon Grayson was the same in L1 until failure at Bradford has seen him not back in football.

Sheridan has survived on a record of short term turnarounds, he fails, losing that reputation and he isn’t worth it for anyone

With the stuff on and off field at Chesterfield am thinking it’s a grave error

Should have seen it coming - he jumps ship at every opportunity that comes his way. I think the whole distance excuse will be the official line but the very public fall out with Danny Grainger on the pitch on Boxing Day was the final straw.

Who do we get in?

Yeah course, that was more tongue in cheek. It's an odd one for sure. Not ideal for you guys given the timing - least if you can get someone in quite soon they will have a few weeks of the Jan window
