Calderwood signs a new two year deal which is great news for the club. He's been fantastic in turning the club around since arriving.

Has he though? Has he really? Your last 3 wins have come against teams playing with 10 men for 69, 49 and 41 minutes. Seems sustainable.

Calderwood's record by my estimation is now 11-8-14 over 33 games. That's a 57 point pace over a full season, good for around 15th-18th each season. You know your club better than I do obviously, but I'd maybe wait a bit longer before breaking out the champagne.

Yeah I think a bit of over the top optimism is ongoing at Cambridge.

It's the best start since our return to the football league so I think it's hard to stop fans being optimistic.

19/20: P9 W4 D2 L3 F13 A9 GD+4 Points 14, Position 8. (Calderwood)
18/19: P9 W2 D2 L5 F8 A16 GD-8 Points 8, Position 19. (Dunne)
17/18: P9 W4 D1 L4 F8 A9 GD-1 Points 13, Position 11. (Derry)
16/17: P9 W1 D3 L5 F7 A14 GD-7 Points 6, Position 24. (Derry)
15/16: P9 W3 D4 L2 F12 A12 GD0 Points 13, Position unknown. (Money)
14/15: P9 W3 D2 L4 F15 A12 GD+3 Points 11, Position unknown. (Money)

Not saying Calderwood is going to get us promoted, but we do feel much more organised. It feels like we're in safer hands than previous seasons.

Christ I’m getting nibbles from Crewe fans when I didn’t even intentionally put any bate out there.

Calderwood has been handicapped with an awful squad last season as well, so his stats are likely to look better this season.

Yes we have had 3 of our 9 games against 10 men because they were all red cards!

When he took over we were national league bound, so yes he had turned things around, recruited rivals player of the year players so he’s earned his new deal.

I really think your record this season is a false flag. If you're plan is to hope 10-15 more teams have men sent off by half time, then sure, go for it. I'd like to see you win some games against 11 men before feeling happy with your progress.

Woah, back up there. Did I go off on your teams antics last week? Check the thread and you'll see I was more focused on blaming our own team for their mistakes. I fully agree our's is a red card, as were the other 2. I'm also a firm believer in the cliche that you can only beat whats put infront of you. It's not always easy to beat teams with 10 men, but you've managed it. If teams want to hand you a man advantage so often, take advantage of it.

But when only 1 win from 4 has come against a team finishing with 11 men, I just think you should pump the brakes on declaring your club turned around. Hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is a genuine turn around. I'm just not convinced.

Like you said, you don’t know our club like we do. You could have had 9 players for 90 minutes and still beat us last season. This season we seem to be made from different stuff.

Colin has certainly turned things around. We were heading towards the national league when he come him so for me, he deserves a pat on the back and a new two year deal.

We’ve picked up solid points against Bradford and Newport, as well as knocking Brentford out the league cup.

On paper we’ve had a tough start to the season so to have our best start to the season since returning to the EFL we have every right to feel optimistic and state our manager has turned it around for us.

I think Cambridge have had a decent start. They didn’t look up to much at our place but like any League Two side they’re going to have off days.

To be fair Crewe's manager didn't do a particularly impressive job in his first season, Calderwood seems to have Cambridge moving in the right direction.

Unfortunently we will almost certainly have to look to replace Ross Embleton with a more experienced coach in the next few weeks it seems.

Our circumstances have made this all very hard, but we now clearly need a more experienced head coach to guide us thorugh this season at the very least. We've still got mainly a non league squad who need to be organised if they're to get results a step up and improve - This is something we've been missing all season.

For the first time today, this group of players started pointing the finger at each other and arguing amongst themselves throughout the game - This has always been a sign in football that things aren't quite right somewhere in terms of preperation behind the scenes.

As expected, its been announced that Ross Embleton will be stepping down as Interim manager going back to his role as assistant Head Coach, with the club now officially going through a process to recruit a new full time Head Coach to work alongside Ross, Danny Webb and Jobi McAnuff.

Ross has done a great job in looking after the playing side of things since the summers tragic events, he and the other staff members put the players through pre season and have managed to get some points on the board. Whilst we've been a bit unorganised and let a few points slip, there has been no reason to fault the players we currently have - All of whom have been fighting tooth and nail and trying to play some good football at the same time.

Its only 4 months nearly since we lost Justin and you can tell that there are many people still coming to terms with this, I just wish some of our moronic fans would realise this and have more patience with the club and the staff, this season is a right off - We need to get through it together.

The only slight criticism is that we shouldn't have kept around 4 players that we did for sentimentle reasons, because they're not going to be good enough in the long term for us in this league.

The new Head Coach will need to be an experienced one and someone who is willing to work with our current coaching setup and with Martin Ling as the director of football.

Phil Brown, Stuart McCall, Steve Lovell & Derek Adams are the only names that I'd have taken who are currently out of work. A long shot would be Steve Cotterill, but I'd have concerns over his ego and whether he was past his best or not.

Up until a few weeks ago, Chris Powell would've been perfect for the role but he now has a far better role with England.

Phil Brown is not out of work - he's currently getting a mega tan in the Indian Premier League as manager of Hyderabad FC.

I think Sol Campbell looks on for Orient and would not be a bad appointment.

Don't really want an inexperienced manager with an ego tbh, Sol Campbell has every chance of getting this job and I'd give him a chance, I just don't think it would work.

Having said that, I just look at all out of work candidates and its difficult to pinpoint an exact name that would fit the jigsaw, because they will not be getting any of their own backroom staff, as the ones we already have did a superb last season to help get us up and Ling has already said that they will be staying.

Not sure how true this article is, but I was told Lings top three candidates were all in jobs - McMahon was one of them.

The other two were Dave Challinor of Fylde and Colin Calderwood.

Calderwood I was told is all but impossible - But he and Ling are close friends whom would like to one day work with each other again apparently.

If our board took Graham Westley or Martin Allen I would be amazed and I would also throw up.

Westley would be a disaster; Allen might do ok as a firefighting appointment to keep Orient up.

Chris Powell, Sol Campbell and Stephen Constantine apparently all spoken to last week.

Graham Westley will be spoken to next week apparently....**Shudders** cannot see this working if its him - our crowd will turn very quickly if he gets it wrong.

No Word on any out of work managers clubs being approached yet, but our owners are apparently willing to pay compensation - which is not something we've done since god knows when.

I was told Ling really, really wants to get Colin Calderwood in, but again this could prove tricky as he has just signed a new deal at Cambridge.

I would expect a new man in place by 12th October when we play Walsall at home.

Sol is your man, performed a miracle to keep Macc up. Westley doesn`t seem a good fit for the O`s who I have always regarded as a good old fashioned hard working , HONEST,working class team.
