Our manager Jamie Fullarton has decided to walk 19 days before the start of the season with only 14 players signed up. Should probably be the tinpot thread

Have you still only got 14 players?

You need at least 2 more by Saturday according to the National League rule 6.4.2

Each Club must have at least sixteen (16) Players registered fourteen (14) days before the start of each Playing Season.

Massive (and sadly credible) rumours flying around that our takeover is about to collapse because the new guys have zero money. Andrew Crofts who came in as player/coach last week has left to join the Brighton U23 squad. Complete shambles but we've come to expect nothing else.

Or what?

Macclesfield used to have about 3 players signed up with 2 hours to go until kick-off on the opening day.
Chris Kinnear seemed to be the same at Dover, then suddenly magic up 17 midfielders.

Kinnear went down the dozens of trialists route. Centre backs were his specialty not midfielders

Will probably be completely wrong in this bonkers division, title should be anyone’s but Fylde out of that lot seem a decent bet. Teams going down are looking weak as it stands, didn’t have Barnet going down but now they lost Fonguck a player that can keep you out of trouble it might be come a struggle, plus the honeymoon period is over for Currie.

Fonguck was not as important a player as many have suggested. Still a loss, but he was pretty inconsistent. Our failings last season were mainly down to Still's awful tactics and Currie having such an intense fixture schedule that he had no choice but to throw us into games without having put an effective style together. There is still more than enough quality in the squad for us to at least finish in upper mid table, even though Still did leave us with some duds on two year deals.

There isn't a single Maidenhead player I would take over Barnet's current options in any position right now. I think bottom 4 looks likely for Maidenhead but I've been continually proven wrong on that front.

given whose post you're quoting perhaps you should have said "Our failings last season were mainly due to YOUR awful tactics"....

That prediction table is indeed bonkers. As I said before, even with Still’s tactics and inconsistent team selections we managed to finish 12th. I can’t see how Hartlepool and Dover will finish 17th and 16th places above us! Fonguck was an important player for us in the first half of the season but far less so in the second half and he didn’t fit anywhere specifically in our team. It’s a shame he decided to leave but not a huge loss.

Come off it, you lot tell us every year, everyone knows you’re going down especially now the league’s bestest EVER midfielder has now left

As it stands. With the side we have kept (still) under Ardley I'd expect at least top 4. However that is with the caviat that we have new owners.
A few Notts fans have said we have a good side, which is very true and if NA can get them to gel, which he couldn't last season we should be comfortable.
3 teams worry me this season, won't say who.

The bookies have you joint favourites and despite what anybody says. They are the best barometer. I dont know who you have kept from last season and who you have lost. I personally think you'll need a season down here to suss shit out and then next season cherry pick the best players and go for the title

That was the other Barnet fans, not me. I always thought that the danger of us going down was slight at most and as soon as we won a game it would disappear.
Also, with his prediction the Daggers fan is giving more credit to his namesake’s managerial prowess than he gave whenever he was talking about Still!

Notts are up with the favourites because they are a big club not because the bookies know anything about this level of football. Odds are more a reflection of how much has been lumped on a club rather than any reflection of how well they may do as the bookies hedge against possible big losses.

Having said all of that.... Notts do seem to have kept hold of some surprisingly decent players. a forward line featuring Hemmings, Dennis and Boldewijn is pretty frightening on paper.

We were bookies joint favourites last year too.
We've a gaping hole at left nack, target man striker and centreback.
The club is in turmoil with the real prospect of administration or even liquidation. I'd take fifth bottom right now.
However, if a takeover happens we could make a go of it with there being no transfer window.

As others have said, it depends entirely what happens with this ‘takeover’. IF it is successful, I’d expect us to be up there, looking at the starting line ups in the other thread I’d say we’ve still got 5, maybe 6, players that, if playing to their potential, would get in most sides in the division. But if the holes mentioned above aren’t shored up and the players aren’t being paid, it means nothing.

Let’s have a look at your mock draft fella ?
A rushed draft prediction for the league. Still a long way to go this summer.

1. Fylde
2. Wrexham
3. Solihull
4. Chesterfield
5. Bromley
6. Hartlepool
7. Harrogate
8. Boreham Wood
9. Dagenham & Redbridge

Above is what I last posted, since my original post I've put Bromley up 1 place, and I'd make a few adjustments again. I don't see Halifax surviving anymore, though I didn't expect them to have that much of a stinker this summer. I'm moving Sutton a fair bit down too.

4. Harrogate
5. Bromley
6. Chesterfield

last 3 predictions have Dover 6th from top or 4th from bottom.
