So the common way on this forum is just to talk bollocks, and when someone calls you up on it just say 'TRIGGERED'
Yes that is correct, I presumed it was usually meant in jest though.

He nearly scored from open play once. But he missed.
He got the winner from open play against Weymouth opening day.

He also scored another open play goal away at Stockport but (cough) there doesn’t seem to be a record of it anywhere. :animatedf:

Thank you for your reply, much quicker than I was expecting. Is that none, then?
I’m not one to get carried away like some of the other Town fans do but pontoonlew is right about how good McAtee is, it’s his all round game he always looks like he’s about to make something happen.
Early days yet though of course and the way some of our fans are going on on Twitter you’d think we’d already won the league.

Stockport doing that man lying down behind the wall total nonsense again. Bloke then proceeds to just strike it wide of the wall at low level and into the net.

Even I'm angry for their fans. The evil that is Rusk must go. You know it'll be this week too.
If there's no news by 5pm tomorrow then you can rest assured for a victory in El Cashico

We are in big shit. No chance of new owners coming in to save us. The future of this club is very, very grim looking

Our start hasn’t been too tricky either tbh, only played 3 in the top half and only one of the top 7. I’d be interested to see us against Devonshire United and Bromley because games against shithouse teams are where we usually come unstuck. On saying that, we’ve been the better side in every game so far, except maybe Stockport and that was fairly even. Our fans are also in hysterics tbf, we’re 6 games into the season ffs. Should only really judge teams 15 games into a season when ability replaces form.

Yesterday showed that we can still play fine but McAtee is the one that really makes us tick and I would hate to be reliant on one player. Great player but never going to be the divisions top scorer. Erico Sousa is the one who’s caught my eye, consistency defines a winger and he has been consistently shit-hot.

Aye, never look at the table until at least 10 games played for a start.

I've obviously not seen any game yet, but listened to every one, and listening it sounds like Sousa and Efete are real handfuls down the right hand side, and Hunt is great at set-pieces. Mcatee sounds a handful, but without seeing him, I can't say if he is as good as Lew thinks and Lew usually does over exaggerate (good or bad) players at times.

It's obvious we still need a goal scorer (someone who will get well into the teens at least) despite scoring a few, its nice sharing goals around (9 different scorers so far) but we can't rely on that all season.

I think you might lose all three as well. At least two will be new grounds for you to tick off though, so not all bad!
Our October looks horrible.

Solihull are a tough team to beat and Sbarra will likely score.

Chesterfield, Daggers and Boreham Wood are all losses.

Leaves Eastleigh and Dover.

Could Southend drop straight through the league? Always thought they'd bottom out like we did but they're not scoring many, not winning and there doesn't seem much of anything to put he brakes on.
We've signed some right dross. If our strikers get injured we're fucked.

People always say don't look at a table until ten games in but if I were a Barnet fan I'd be looking hard. In our many relegation seasons I've usually had an inkling after about five games that it's not going well with the top of the table already looking distant.

Poor first half from Notts, feared we were going to be Devonshired, Maidenhead perhaps slightly unlucky to not go in 1-up at the break.

Second half we were 10 times better, far more direct and got the ball forward much quicker. Got an early goal and should have got 2/3 more - real off day in front of goal for Roberts, and the keeper made an unreal save from Taylor. No idea why the Maidenhead guy who brought Rodrigues down for the penalty didn’t see red, it was a clear goalscoring opportunity. Also what was with their defender shoving the ref? Didn’t even get a ticking off. Very odd performance from the official.

Never really felt like we were in trouble after the goal, not sure Maidenhead had a chance following that. Devonshiring avoided.
He'll get you again....don't you worry!!

Depends what the aim for the season is, if it was promotion then yeah it's bad, but surely after last season for them, promotion was already a distant hope for this season

Speaking of Barnet, how long is Kewell going to keep trying and failing to be an adequate manager of a lower league team? He’s surely rich enough not to need to be embarrassing himself any more.

If we don’t beat Weymouth he should go but even if we do beat Weymouth, I have no faith in him. He seems to be that fatal combination of simultaneously being very sure of himself and not at all bright.

That's true but it's been looking like a relegation battle from game one.
With goal difference Stockport are effectively ten points off the top already. You can't get promoted after ten games but you can make it very hard for yourself as the PPG average starts creeping up.

Aye after your post I had a quick look at the table and while Barnet look in trouble they are only 2 wins of about 10th. I think Stockport and Torquay fans should have bigger concerns than Barnet, both in with the favourites for promotion and both already a long way of top.

How about a bit of credit for us? Second half was near perfection and best performance in years. Stockport's heads had gone with half an hour left, they knew they couldn't match us. How soon can we play yous? :ds:

Free kick so close to the edge of the box that struck with power to the keepers side. I thought at the time he got a hand to it but I was down the other end so I can't be sure. Maybe he should have saved that. Blinded by his own wall I suspect.

I think collectively as a fan base we are quite highly strung - as one the Wrexham posters on here observed. The Fishy can swing from wailing and near wrist slashing to over the top euphoria within a couple of weeks. The best start in 30 years and, apparently, the last time we won our first 4 home games was under Lawrie McMenemy in 71/72, has generated alot of the latter.

My reference is the Lincoln championship-winning season - putting the cup-run aside they went quietly about their business in the early season in a highly effective way, with an emphasis on unrivalled fitness, a pressing game and exploiting opposition mistakes really well and winning alot of pens through the effective pressure. so far so good in that respect.

Until you've been in administration a few times, survived a 10 point deduction in the middle of a relegation battle and still stayed up, only to then go bust anyway, and see that nobody else gives a fuck, stop yer whining. :ds:

Based on what I have seen, I have no faith in Kewell either however, I think this season we need to be a bit more realistic. We should be looking at survival, as comfortably as possible, as our aim this season with a view to improving next term.

Yes, our points tally so far is awful but in fairness, we have already faced likely title contenders Notts County, Grimsby, Dagenham and Chesterfield. In fact Eastleigh at home is the only game so far where you might have expected us to have picked up 3 points, and let's not forget, Eastleigh smashed us home and away and just missed out on the play offs last season.

Our next 4 fixtures are going to set the bench mark for our season - Weymouth, Halifax, Kings Lynn and Dover. If we don't get minimum 7 points from those 4, we are in desperate trouble and I expect Brennan will step in to take over from Kewell.

If we do hit that target, I would be happy to give Kewell more time. It does us absolutely no good to keep chopping and changing our manager every five minutes.

Only 6 games in for us but I'd also agree that so far McAtee is as good as Lew is saying. The fact that we signed him up on a two year deal right at the start of the summer tells me that Hurst had him identified as a target as soon as he came into the club for his second stint. His record at Scunthorpe was underwhelming to say the least and I suspect that has worked in our favour here. Hurst's ability to unearth a rough diamond is something he's had in his locker for as long as we've known him and early signs point towards him having done it again here.

A fair post and I am as sick of the constant chopping and changing of managers as you are. We have had a difficult start and there weren’t many matches where I’d expect us to pick up points. I think my issue is that our primary problem, the centre of midfield, is so obvious and yet Kewell shows no sign of trying to resolve it. In all of our matches, including the Eastleigh one, our opponent’s expected goals have been much larger than ours. Let’s see if we can dominate against Weymouth on Saturday.

Just watched the highlights and that first from Efete is almost a carbon copy of Waterfalls from Tuesday. Inch perfect corner to the penalty spot and strong header into top corner. (Someone with video editing skills needs to put them side by side)

Fox for the second was a great strike too.

So you saw The Shay, did you see any of our town's other crown jewels? The Piece Hall? The Gibbet? The Minster? The Town Hall? The indoor Borough Market? Dean Clough Mills? Shibden Hall? The stocks at Illingworth Gaol? My pad? We're West Yorkshire's Capital of Culture you know. :bdick:
Didn't have time for much of that my friend, but enjoyed the vibe of the town, seemed a friendly place, few nice pubs etc. The best away trips are where the station, centre and ground are all close together. Congratulations on the three points.
