Yey, this competition is back for most of the league. Everyone looking forward to another round of fixtures?

Going to be weird at Gresty Road, as I think Wrexham will have probably sold out the 1,600 capacity end and they'll likely be less home fans than that in the ground. Although I wouldn't be surprised if a few of our 'yoof' show up to cause trouble. Hoping we fully rotate and get rest for as many first team players as possible.

Same with ours, Derby have sold out 3,000 and be surprised if there's more than half of that many home fans.

Home to Leicester kids. It will be an opportunity to give some fringe players and those coming back from injury minutes on the pitch.

I apologise in advance for our attendance in this one. Couldn't care less about this tournament and I wouldn't go even if we got to Wembley.

I'm told that it's mostly Forest fans who turn up to our games anyway, so presumably there will be a massive interest in playing their biggest rivals.

I didn’t even know we were playing. 0-0 with zero effort from either team, penalties, who cares, get this competition in the bin.

I’m only slightly interested in our game at Grimsby to see if we carry on where we left off against Swindon at the weekend, or whether we slip back into that Hughes-negativity mindset.

As always, I’d make as many changes as you’re allowed to.

GK: Harry Lewis

RB: Dan Oyegoke
CB: Matt Platt
CB: Cieran Kelly
LB: Liam Ridehalgh

CM: Kev McDonald
CM: Manny Osadebe

LW: Adam Wilson
AM: Bobby Pointon
RW: Chisom Afoka

ST: Tyler Smith

This way, we’re able to start with five players that started against Swindon. Smallwood, Cook, Walker, Gilliead and Stubbs remain protected; and I’m sure Kev will want to try and keep Wilson and Pointon on the pitch to develop their footballing relationship in that final third.

I fancy us tonight.

Disappointing to hear we’ve sold 200+ advance tickets for this one.

We announced our squad for tonight game last night, dunno if this is normal for this cup?

Either way it’s all about getting a few that need minutes and resting the spine; George Williams, Hiram Boateng, Calum Johnson in particular.

Could do with Swan playing and getting a goal in open play.

All this is good for is getting some minutes into those on the fringes and some young lads. I do think we’ll win however, Hurst sounds like it’s the last thing he wants and I think our players while the search for a new manager goes on will be trying to impress anyway they can.

Plus we probably need the £10k to help pay Hughes off.

Why should we end your misery just to continue ours?
Cos you've got two more games left so you're still in it no matter what happens tonight. You could put us out of this shitshow of a competition today!

Actually, I am interested to see how we play regardless of who is playing. On Saturday, we played on the front foot and moved the ball forward quickly which has been a rarity recently. We created chances and gave Swindon chances which gave entertainment regardless of the result and a rarity at home.

We appear to be playing Morecambe tonight. Surprised they’ve not requested to postpone it as we’re within about a week of an international break…

Hopefully an opportunity to get Telford on the scoresheet and Whitfield some fitness, so a high-scoring defeat would be ideal.

I'm going, missus and lad going on the train and i'll drive over to there when I finished work. Probably the same time it takes for me to get home as it is getting to Crewe.

Family never been to Gresty road, but yet many a time been to Crewe as a town. Not sure on where to put my car yet, but plenty of time to do some homework. I last went in 2003 in the league cup.

Main road next to the Mornflake Factory. Can even park it under the Railway Bridge. Wont be busy tonight but I always park there as it's a quick getaway to the A500 and back to Macclesfield for me.

I also went that game as a kid. Denis Smith got sent to the stands and he sat right in front of me. Fergie was present watching Darren play too. I never knew managers could be sent off until that game.

You know what, I think you're right in seeing Smith getting sent off. Remember Carey getting sent off in the last minute or so, but couldn't think for the life of me remember which part of our coaching staff was sent off. The ref totally lost the plot, and rubber stamped the ref's name into memory: Trevor Parkes.

SAF turned up to a fair few of out games when Darren was playing, only when not interfered with Man Utd. He got on with Brian Flynn when he was manager so was well looked after. SAF helped us in loaning some players to us when in the 90s and to the turn of the century. Darren should have taken over when we were in a mess in 2006 when Smith did get sacked, but as normal, we gave it to the cheap option in Carey.

Will be looking to park on the industrial estate side I think tonight as the fam is going to the Brewers fayre after my lad does some train spotting (he's only 11 but obsessed with trains), but where you mentioned is where I'd go if heaven forbid I drive to the league game next year. I'll be getting to Crewe just before 6 I think.
