Won 2-1. Good confidence boost for the reserves and kids.

None of ours have got themselves in the frame for selection on Saturday, that's for sure. There was a lot of hype this season that we've got some strength in depth which we haven't had previously but not on that showing. Another game ticks by for Telford who's still yet to score.

Forgot we even had a game tonight.

How on earth have Grimsby lost to us with that line up of ours?

38 year old Colin Doyle in net hasn't made an appearance anywhere for nearly 3 years

I put £50 on Derby at 11/10. I hardly ever bet on Notts either way, I'm not very balanced on Notts prospects, either wildly optimistic or too negative and rarely go over £5, usually Accas, but occasionally I get the feeling and I was pretty certain we'd lose. Derby brought 3,000 so were always going to put a shift in and we were never going to play our best team.

I was surprised by how poor they were to be honest. Their midfield was Hourihane/Sibley/Bird, so a guy with a fair amount of Prem experience and two of their bright young talents that are constantly getting linked with an upwards move, but it was pretty easy for us to control possession and the general flow of the game with a makeshift team.

They created chances on the break as you’d expect with Collins and Barkhuizen upfront against a couple of random loanee kids, but there didn’t look anywhere near as much between the teams as there should’ve been, albeit I was only watching on a stream.

Think Grimsby also played a near reserve side.

I remember when we lost to Eastleigh in the FA Cup, four young lads ended up doing jail time after what happened in the aftermath of that game things escalated that badly. The cups always seem to bring the knuckledraggers out at our place.
They tried it with us the young lads came off worse there own fault for looking for trouble and finding it.

Watched this tonight on a stream to my shame, so desperate are we. Good first half with the change squad, dominating possession and a goal up. Horseman makes changes at the half and it's back to the shakiness and a goal conceded, though we ended up winning the penalty shootout, with Searle saving a couple of times to add to the pen he saved during regular time, after Dh has been leaving him out for a loanee for apparently not training right.
It was a shit game we never turned up again until the last 30 minutes bang in trouble if we keep Sadler he needs to go lose Saturday and he might be out.Nice to see Troy back even though he didnt play still well liked here how has he been for you?

Didn’t watch the game, have no idea how it all panned out; who dominated or who played, other than we didn’t lose.

Like we rarely do against Grimsby. Always.

I watched the stream too. Slocombe made a fair few saves, it made the scoreline look closer than the match was I thought.
Having said that I thought we did well for a scratch team, Macari looked ok and nice to see Morias get a goal.

Lost 5-1. Good job lads (no idea if we’re eliminated or not but fingers crossed).

If you beat Fulham kids in your third game in 90 minutes or on penalties you are through youth.

Don't think our players give any more of a toss about it than us fans really. Couple of youths and fringe players and our reserve keeper in our lineup too so we also weren't full strength.

We lost 3-0 to our local rivals, got knocked out after just 2 games, had our captain sent off, failed to score in this competition yet again and the only thing I'm disappointed about is the crowd. Good riddance to this nonsense cup for another year. :fing:

One of the few bright spots for us this season, touches of real quality and always putting in a shift and trying to get things happening. In a better team he'd easily bag a hatful at this level.

2nd half we had 7 under 17s playing. What’s the point. OK, it’s great for those youngsters getting a run out in the game but any player anywhere near the first XI didn’t want to be anywhere near that game. Utter waste.

Stockport County.
9 academy lads getting on the pitch for us last night but experienced head Paddy Madden who needed minutes grabs a hat trick to get us a win at Salford. It was more of an academy game for both sides tbf. We're now in danger of going through.

Yeah probably fair enough.

Nice to see Eisa has reverted to type and bottled a tackle in the lead up to the second goal.

Woke up to the news that we're through.

Decent result for the reserves tbf, if we don't play first teamers then I'm not arsed. Hope we don't get to Wembley though as I'll no doubt go and it's always a crap day out. We always lose there too when it's not minus 12 degrees inside the ground.

It was actually an entertaining game. 18 years old Freddie Jeffries came on and looks to have the feet and assuredness of 19 years old Bobby.

You don't need any more injuries because of this cup. We got another injury last night plus a red card due to reaction to a tackle.

At least the red is only applicable to the Pizza Cup games

As soon as one of the Premier League clubs wins the competition, they’ll be collected calls for a complete restructure.

Most of which are completely shite, so we might be waiting a while yet.

Comprehensive 3-0 win last night against Crewe with out 2nd string and a couple of players who should be in and around the first team who needed minutes. Davies looks back to what we saw of him a couple of years ago, but not getting excited too much as Crewe were desperate to not win, and their lads didn't look interested.

Nice to keep another clean sheet, and good to see a couple of the kids make their debuts.
