Went along to Arnold tonight, good fun with a pint in the sunshine but don't really know what you can learn from a game against opposition of that standard.

First half we pretty much played 4-2-4, with Stead and Spencer right up top and Jenner/Valencic pretty much with them, worked at times but also seemed a little bit forced - although we should've scored more than the one we did, which was Stead flicking in a Spencer cross. They defended pretty well, to be fair, and the 'keeper made four or five great saves. Was particularly impressed by Jenner on the right, who could beat his man easily and had a decent final ball.

The second half was just silly when we changed the entire eleven against an Arnold side who only made a couple of subs, the pace we brought on in Campbell, de Silva and Snijders was too much and we scored seven. De Silva took all four of his goals really well and hit the post, Campbell and Snijders both looked lively and trialist Stanley Aborah played really well in midfield.

Only bad thing is that we have no idea whether either of the trialist 'keepers can catch a ball or not after that. :D

Our 1-1 draw against East Fife must be terrifying you lot. Tonight we are playing the mighty Arbroath FC. Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

On the face of it, that doesn't sound like a good result.

Last pre-season we drew against St Johnstone...but we thrashed Raith. Make of that what you will (probably not much if you've any sense).

East Fife are the equivalent of Curzon Ashton..... so I'm very pleased that we avoided a 3-0 hammering.

We beat Workington 3-0 tonight, Asamoah, trialist Osei, and Kearns were the scorers.

We managed to keep the score down against part-time Arbroath FC. 1-0 to the Scottish fishermen.
Tisdale will no doubt be delighted we aren't conceding too many.

Our first is St Neots tomorrow, with Lowestoft on Tuesday, but our first at the Abbey, against Norwich next Friday night, has turned into a 4 quarter 120 minute marathon. I may be tempted out, especially to see old boys Ruddy and Johnson.

Hucknall Rolls Royce Leisure FC (or whatever the fuck they're called these days) at 2pm tomorrow - last season we played a shite team against them and Derry had to be subbed off at half-time because he decided to randomly play and was trying to fight some player on their team. Abbott had to drag him off. Great stuff. Jeremy Balmy scored two wonder goals too.

I hope we play a good team and twat them though. We beat Arnold 8-0 and they're one level higher than Hucknall.

Guessing the two weird Romanian trialists might play

We're away at Tamworth today, loved going as a competitive fixture but friendlies don't have the same feel. Be our first game against half decent opposition apart from a rumoured behind closed doors spanking against Bury though no one has any idea what went off there.

It took one minute for Big John to score against Premier League opposition.

Be afraid, League 2. Very afraid.

We won 7-0 at Penrith AFC this afternoon.

Really should have been about 15-0.

Lost 3-5 to Crystal Palace. No shame in that score and we gave them a decent game, especially in the second half when our talented youngsters came on and they brought on fringe players.

Yep, probably should've been a lot more, but it was an enjoyable game.

I liked the look of Hery in midfield, and thought Brough, Miller and Wyke were the standout players in the 1st half. Kearns looked lively when he came on.

Can't read very much into these games, but it was good to see some of the new signings in action.

Rovers won 4-1 at Salisbury this afternoon in our first PSF. We had half our first team playing with the other half made up of youth players; the other first teamers and youth players are in action at Sutton tomorrow.

Jamie Lucas and Nathan Blissett netted two each. Trialist Billy Bodin looked lively but lacking in end product in his first outing.

In our friendly today, we didn't swap sides at half-time. Apparently it was because they didn't think it would be fair for Hucknall to play uphill when they were already 6-0 down

EDIT - well that funny tale lasted all of 30 seconds. It seems we actually just asked to play uphill both halves for fitness purposes...which is a much less humorous reason.

Beat Didcot Town 5-0 at Didcot this afternoon. We fielded a different team in each half.

2 goals for Kemar Roofe in the 1st half - 2 for Danny Hylton and 1 for Ashby in the 2nd half.

Next match tuesday near Vienna.

anyone from AFC or Watford expand on how the game went, I have only been able to read what is on the AFC web site. Cheers

I spent a lot of today stewarding/distributing water to other stewards/partaking of the excellent beer festival. What I did see was pretty damn good. You couldn't tell that Watford were three leagues above us.

I spoke to a number of Watford supporters. All lovely people and I wish them all the best in the premiershite.

Early doors in the pre-season league and Carlisle are cheating by playing games every other day while Notts County are doing that thing you do on FM where you find a bunch of shit teams and absolutely tonk them to get morale up. I mean Rolls Royce FC? Come on guys, at least make an effort.

Meanwhile Yeovil went completely left field and played a cricket match because Paul Sturrock's don't answer to no man.
