He’ll plant a bomb at the club before he leaves?

Bloody hell never realised he was that bad.
Wasn't there a club owner who tried to burn their main stand down before being chased out of town...part of me thinks it may have been Donny Rovers, who had a miserable time about 20 years back.

You’re right, it was Ken Richardson apparently.

Was not expecting that result. They had everyone play bar Morelos and Kamara as well.
A classic Micky Mellon performance. Very hardworking and well organised defensively and had the quality in the opposition box when it mattered.

The result suggests (a) we are putting a decent side together and (b) a lot of SPL teams would struggle in Leagues One and Two. Rangers were undefeated in the league last season.

I liked the look of the majority of the new signings as well, the centre halves, Cogley and Mani in particular.

Should we just give Tranmere the title now?

I am not really making any such claims. I am just impressed with the immediate difference in organisation and workrate under Mellon, compared to the dross served up by Hill last season.

However, I would expect us to be there or thereabouts.

delighted to see some football finally!

vale looked good although we play newcastle town every year and it really is just a fitness exercise.

couple of my observations:

benning is going to fit right in, already linking up well with rodders
conlon is fucking unbelievable
brad walker looks like a decent upgrade on joyce passing wise - though wasn't tested defensively
we've got a couple of decent youth prospects. no idea on names but there were a few of the bigger lads who looks like a class above newcastle

Beat local North West Counties League 1 team Holker Old Boys 7-1 in our 1st friendly with goals from Ollie Banks (pen), Zanzala (2), Josh Kay, Tom Beadling and Dmitri Sea (2),
Best goal off the game was Jamie Hodgson for HoB who lobbed sub keeper Lillis from the half way line.

Normally this is a fixture that we would play at half speed and scrape a win or a draw or even lose. I was impressed that the players didn't seem rusty at all, and thought one or two of the new signings looked like they'll do the business.

I have to say, I do believe there's something in the rumours that Quigley is off - not refusing to train (that's nonsense), but the way Cooper never mentioned an injury and that he's now changed from saying his squad is nearly there to saying "there'll be one or two out and a couple in".

Crawley beat local team Horley Town 1-6 today 3 ogs from the Horley keeper apparently. I was too busy figuring out what to mix with various Rums to give a monkeys but Tiki Fire is a damn fine little tipple. Promise.

there may or may not be something in the Quigley rumours... but Cooper said a couple of weeks ago that there would probably be a couple in and a couple out - so that's not new.

We have Lewis Ward, ex-Exeter keeper on trial tonight, any use Exeter fans?
Good ‘keeper. 6ft 5 and still very young so will get a lot better. As Denzel said, he had some unfortunate injuries in his time with us but he would be a very good signing.

Beat Tiverton 1-0. Ben Seymour scored! Sounded like another good run out, playing two different elevens in each half
Was at the game and it was indeed a good run out. Their ‘keeper had a very good game making some decent saves.

First half was a more experienced team. Of the new signings Nombe looked very quick and he will certainly stretch defences next season. Jevani Brown didn’t do too much, which was a bit concerning but it is early days! George Ray looked fine but wasn’t really tested and Callum Rowe was keen to get forward from left back which was nice to see.

Second half was a bit more disjointed but our goal was well taken with Randall and Caprice doing well in the buildup to setup Seymour for a tidy finish. Of the young players I liked Diabate who’s a unit for a young lad and it was great to see James Dodd playing after such a horrible injury. He’s 21 already so could we be involved at some point this season.

he only played eleven minutes for us in one full game, an inglorious hammering 5-2 by the Gills. However, he spent last season at Truro being managed by Paul Wootton who coached him at Argyle. As I never say him play can’t tell you much about him, and he did not feature as the next great young thing on Pasoti. good luck to the lad.

Yems was speaking about how he wanted players who were close to the Crawley area and not from hither and thither.

If Battle does sign he is from Devon/Cornwall and our other signing (so far) is a Geordie. There's nothing like following a plan and that's nothing like following a plan.

It's easy to get players to go from the South West or North East to the London area.
It's less easy to get them to go the other way.
(Yes I know that Crawley isnt that exciting but the attraction of being half an hour from London to a young lad shouldn't be underestimated)

Our friendly on Tuesday against a Brentford XI is off due to a Covid outbreak in the Bees squad.

We'll now be playing Southern League side Chesham United away.

Home to Barnsley tomorrow, behind closed doors.

They mostly win against Dale, even when we have actual defenders, so I forsee another twomping.

Could do with a powerful, experienced centre back. Our new manager, Robbie Stockdale, is from Redcar; David Wheater, last heard of falling out with the Oldham shambles is from Redcar; 2+2= a pretty useful No 5...

Can only go by what the Trust say. And they sound very optimistic things will be sorted very soon. Just waiting for the EFL to ratify Axis.

Apparently EFL approval is nearly done but we still need Power to play ball. (I assume in completing paperwork to transfer shares) Given how difficult he's making things I'm sure he'll be continuing to carry on in the same vein unfortunately.

West Ham are sending a team to Northampton and a team to play ourselves tonight. Michael Antonio and Manuel Lanzini are expected to play against us.

A small crowd will be at our game which will include myself.

Lost 1-0 at Fleetwood this afternoon. Split the game into four quarters of thirty minutes and most of the first team squad have played a bit apart from Ryan Johnson and Jake Taylor.

Seem to have been integrating a lot of the youth lads with the first team squad also during these games which is a change from previous years.
