Crawley's game with Southampton u23s has been cancelled...probably due to terminal boredom.

Away at Burgess Hill Town tonight. Not going to go as I can't be arsed.

Hungerford Town tonight with the usual array of first teamers, under 21s and under 18s as well as 3 triallists. I'm assuming the same 3 as we had at Melksham.

I don't think we have enough goals in our squad to be anywhere near the top 7. Proctor only averages 5 a season, Wilson never scored more than 10 in a season. I think rodney got 14 or 15 last season but didn't score many from February onwards. Unless we win games 1 nil then I can't see us being any higher than mid table unless another player is signed that can score around 12 goals a season.

Sutton beat Chesham 2-0 tonight in our first pre-season friendly. Both goals were scored in the 2nd half the first by David Ajiboye the second by club legend (and fitness coach as well as registered player) Craig Dundas.

We just annihilated Taunton Town 5-0.

Scorers: Nombe 2, Seymour 2 and Jevani Brown. Good run out and the starting XI got 60 minutes.

Onto Bath City on Friday for a slightly tougher test.

Drew 0-0 with a West Ham team which featured Darren Randolph, Angelo Ogbonna, Mark Noble and Michail Antonio. Around 1000 in attendance.

We had to rely on two very good saves from Sam Sargeant to deny Antonio to get the draw.

We looked hard to beat but offered little cutting edge in the final third. We did play 4-5-1 though to stifle our opponents for most of the game to be fair.

Danns didn't look good enough for us on trial 12 months ago - I doubt he's any better a year later.

Wasn't there but it seems Burgess Hill were a good "physical challenge".

Our keeper made a mess for their goal. Their defence made a mess for ours.

Two trialists have been identified. Joel Lynch (defender) ex of Sunderland, QPR and Burnley. 33 years old and lives near-by. Tommy Wood (forward). Last seen at Tonbridge Angels but once (2020) of Wimbledon reserves.

Beat Penrith 8-0 this evening. Difficult to read much into pre season results but we pretty much start our warm up away to Penrith every summer and think this is the biggest win we've had over them. Goals from Abrahams, Toure, Mellish, Dixon (2) and Clough (3).

Obviously we’re clearly going to win the league with such performances

1st friendly of season and team needed a run out.
Good result although anything less .......................... !!
Too early to identify any change of style with new manager in charge.


Good number of FGR away support with all happy to watch a game of football live rather than streamed or on TV.

As mentioned above, a decent run out against City rivals Bradford Park Avenue.

BPA 0 - 5 Bradford City | Niall Canavan, Andy Cook, Kian Scales, Oli Crankshaw and Abo Eisa with the goals.

Such a refreshing change to recent pre-seasons, where we’ve approached these types of friendlies with a squad full of trialists. Business has been done early, so the lads should be reap the benefits in the long run.

Penrith aren’t they side they were a few years ago. Been shocking for a few seasons but Carlisle did look very good in spells. Clough if he stays fit will be a quality signing. He’s more than capable of 20-30 goals this season.
