Notts have just won 17-0 against Rolls Royce and we didn't play a full side...

Beat Melksham Town 5-2. Triallist (Lloyd Sam), Keshi Anderson, Alzate (pen), McGlashan and Twine.

Marc Richards went off with a bad shoulder injury which isn’t good news at all.

While you lot are all playing shit pub sides, we were at Southern Premier League side St Neots and smashed them 7-1. Beware.

Decent 4-0 win for Tranmere too. I know Scottish footy is a bit cack but Dunfermline are a second tier side aren't they?

Yes, they are. It has to be an encouraging result for us as they played their strongest team.

The crowd was 700 including 200 Rovers fans, so the England game affected their gate more than ours, bizarrely.

Good win for Notts County against Rolls Royce. Did they even get out of first gear? I heard they had too much in the engine room. I think they never even got started. #carpuns

Oh and Crewe won 1-0 at local neighbours Nantwich, full squad got a run out, 45 minutes each. It was our first pre-season game and it showed.

Yep, it was only Nantwich but I bet they're much better than Rolls Royce :ffs:. It's like you say JJ, what matters is that the full squad got a run out against step 3 opposition. Result is of secondary importance.

Drew 1 1 against kidsgrove louis dodds scored which aint really a good result but we put 7 past them last season and had a shit season so im not overly worried at the moment. We have made 11 signings so they will need time gel.

Have to say winning 4-0 away at Dunfermline is extremely impressive and sets us up nicely for the remaining pre season games. Obviously at home to Liverpool will be a tough one (especially after they hit Chester for 7) but an encouraging start!

What does it say about the Scottish second division though....

We lose 6-0 to SPL side Rangers, you beat second division side 4-0... not sure what it says about the quality of Scottish football.

I wouldn't read too much into it, just as we don't read into losses at Cammell Lairds. Still, a good run out and it's always nice to win.

BTW... it's coming home...

We lost 4-3 to Cleethorpes Town.

Mitigating factor is Paul Dixon started, no idea if any goals were his fault but im blaming him anyway. :bg:

See Grimsby had Rovers striker George Waring on trial in the Cleethorpes games.

Two of our goals at Dunfermline came from youth team players another from a triallist Soukana. Good result, but MM post match remarked he’d only got about thirteen players capable of making the first team so expecting more signings.

Inter-sport pre season is a fun idea. Disastrous result for the cricket club though Christ.

We (Bury) have Huddersfield at home tomorrow night. If we lose 6-0 again I might start getting worried. Won’t have 40,000 roaring Glaswegians this time though.

We play Norwich tomorrow at SB so that will be a bit of a barometer depending on the strength of their team. Looking likely at least a couple of trialists will be given some minutes.

It's then onto Sheffield Weds on Friday again at home.

* Edit, just seen on one of our forums that the left sided CB we had training with us with a view to signing might be Baily Cargill after he was released by Bournemouth. He has recently been on loan at Coventry, Gillingham, Fleetwood and Partick, anyone know anything about him?

Norwich have one of the better youth set-ups in the country so good opportunity to see some talented youngsters in action.

We are on our way to play a behind closed doors game against Norwich in Thursday.

We've left early because a part of the travelling community decided our training ground (borrowed) would make a nice place to not travel for a few days. Mind you, the coach driver has headed south. Seems he wants to see the beach at Bournemouth first.

U's play City at their new temporary home in Histon tonight.

Might walk down for a couple of beers. More likely I'll get the bus pass out, have time for a few more beers, and consider walking back.

What's happened to Histon? They had a very good side a few years ago. Near the top of the Conference etc. Then nothing...?

The ground was and is safely in trust from the Chivers (jam making) family.

They had a 10 year rise and 5 year fall, starting around 2000.

Now the money (a lot of which was dangled but never there) has disappeared with the egos and individuals who were playing with the club and it's reverted to the community club that fits its resources and situation. A ladies team and plenty of youth/academy activity (U9s, U12's, U18's - with a new U13 team launched this season).

First team are comfortable back in the Eastern Counties Premier Division with Lance Key as manager. Lance was the Histon keeper sold by Histon to Wednesday for £10k in 1990. That cash, along with the fee and a friendly from ManUre for Guiliano Maiorana, allowed the club to survive financial problems (all in the Eastern Counties Prem Division) 10 years before the Southern League to Conference chasing the dream.

We're playing Torquay away tonight, which is funny cos back in 99 when we played them in the FA Cup 2nd round it was a big deal for us to play a Football League club like them. Fast forward 19 years and we're the Football League side going there for a pre-season friendly.

Wont be going though, obviously I'll be down the pub watching a proper game to see who's getting through to lose to us in the World Cup final. It's coming home.
