Taunton 7 - Cheltenham 0 (last night)
St Neots 6 - Cambridge 0 (today)

Our squad is in Scotland* so I can only assume we played our u/12's or something. And the Robins had Leicester today so I can only assume their side was also made up entirely of 12 and 13 year olds.

*and smashed Hearts 3-2 so there Agombar stool ;)

Cheltenham's was their academy team.

More to my point about the mass of changes we made, we’ve only one friendly left now yet still only giving 60 minutes to our first choice players still which seems strange! Surely in the penultimate friendly we should be trying to get close to the XI being through 90 minutes by now!

But we actually played with a Size 4 ball, so we're still technically on 0 friendlies played.

Crawley lost 0-1 to Brighton's academy team plus a couple of stiffeners on Friday. Dodgy penalty. Free kick, hits the wall and Gavin Ward decides it's a hand ball. Good game but we are still lacking up front.

Just got back from watching us lose 3-1 at Horsham. Celebrating their ground opening. 4g pitch resplendent with the great smell of rubber. We played mostly a second string but it did include Ollie Palmer, Reece Grego-Cox, Josh Payne and Felipe Morais. All very slow paced and dull really the only thing of note was how poor the trialists were. A total of five decent park players and one Sunday morning pub player. If we sign any off them we are in trouble.

I don't think Cioffi has learnt anything from the problems last season. Still slow to close down, still unwilling to get the ball to the forwards with any speed and still too easily caught out by balls over the top.

Mansfield 2-2 Hull

Stags equalised twice after gifting them two goals with two really poor defensive mistakes.

Beat Dartford 2-0 with goals from Marvin Ekpiteta and Sam Ling. Good to see us still looking strong at set plays. Around half of our squad got the full 90mins today.

The other half will get 90mins on Tuesday when we're away to Bishops Stortford, we then wrap it up at home to Norwich U23s next Saturday at home, when the team expected to play the opening game will probably play.

We lost 4-0 to West Brom with a very odd line up, Hurst did say he would give everyone a shot just thought that might be against Alfreton on Tuesday.

Size 4 ball like my twelve year old uses! What was the reason?

Don’t worry. Normal order will be restored this season.

Don’t really care when we finish in relation to Crewe unless it’s relevant to us going up, that’s more an obsession for their fans than ours but hopefully without the hamstrings we’ve had the last couple of seasons or so we can do alright this year.

Properly prepared players, with fitness and tactics befitting of the club rather than Aspins negative sit deep ideals and of course the rising of the bad professionals within the squad should be worth a few points on its own.

Port Vale had the slightly stronger Burnley team yesterday, but honestly, who gives a shit? I know the Alex was baiting, but it's pre-season. This is always a timely reminder that we beat a full strength Hull team before the 08-09 season 4-0, with Calvin Zola scoring a hat-trick. We went down from L1 that season and Zola scored 4 goals in the entire season.

Pre-season results or performances mean nothing. Yes, it doesn't hurt to get encouraged by a performance, but using that as a marker for how you'll do is daft.

Totally agree our best pre season was arguably 2007 when we smashed Sheff Weds 3-0 beat Man United XI 3-2 (still Shawcross, Campbell and Rossi and looks superb...

Went down that year

Swindon beat Supermarine 3-0 and Salisbury 6-1 whereas we only beat them 2-1 and 4-0. Does that mean they'll finish above us for the first time in a while?

Salisbury fans saying on Facebook that comparing the two sides, Swindon looked better cos they were more of a constant threat, whereas we passed it in pretty patterns out from the back but kept going sideways and backwards. Had 90% possession though. Which is nice.

Just having a laugh with the person who's doing the pre-season league table... disqualified our two tour results because we played it in 3 30-min periods instead of 2 halves... Was going to see if we could get to the the first game of the season with no friendlies recorded. ;)

yes, I'm convinced that they will

I think you're probably right tbf :ffs:

They keep signing good players, annoyingly. Comparing their signings and squad to ours makes me think all that stick I gave out to Swindon fans at work last season is going to come back and bite me on the arse.
