Having a shot and scoring it is not a fluke.

There's a world of difference between good fortune and fluke.

Christ the lord! I have not said we’ll be world beaters, for what it’s worth I and many town fans still want McCarthy out of the club.

I just don’t get the whole ‘we’ll be above Ipswich’ being a milestone! If that’s your main aim for the season, then you’re less ambitious than our owner!

If our goals at the start of the season came off Waghorns arse, hit the post, rolled along the line before the cb trips over and pushes it into the goal, then yes, it was a fluke!

It’s only a milestone because when I suggested it I was mocked by a number of Town fans who thought it was ridiculous a Brentford fan could possibly think we would finish above you guys given the way we were apparently completely outplayed!

Please tell/show me where someone has said you were completely outplayed. We didn’t ‘outplay’ you and you don’t have to do so to deserve to win. We kept you back while you passed side to side to side and we took our chances unlike yourselves.

I totally agree to be honest, although in particular Forest are on track to lose half their games and be play off challengers, which is also a bit daft.
But fair play to SU and Forest, I just believe that all things being equal they are going to start drawing some games and therefore drop back somewhat.

Depends where those draws come from. We've won 8, lost 8. Of the 8 we have won we were probably fortunate against Millwall only, the rest we were good value.

Of the 8 we lost, we probably deserved more in 3/4 of them.

Point being, we will start drawing eventually, let's just hope our rate of defeats slows down rather than wins. Based on what I've seen so far, they should do.

I thought you guys were insanely lucky to win against us.

I suggested at the time that your rate of scoring with every shot on target, and us having by far the worst record of getting goals from shots on target, both weren't sustainable, and that over the course of the season we'd do a lot better than you guys, and in my opinion likely overtake Ipswich and finish higher in the league, though I thought it would take a lot longer to catch up.
Of course it wasn't sustainable, no one thought that it was and every team is going to have results that don't match performances, we just happened to have a cluster at the start of the season. We're still 8th so it's not like it's been a disaster since those first few games.

I remember when Mick McCarthy said Cole Skuse was the best midfielder in the Championship. Crazy bastard.
He was right.

He was right.
Was he fuck.

I like Skuse, but he'd be a squad player at best for us, and there are several midfielders in this division who would improve us.

Good result again tonight although somewhat seriously overshadowed with the news Paul Coutts has broke his leg, the pictures don't look good. Wolves have a pretty easy 5 games on paper coming up so to keep up with them over that period will be impressive. I don't fancy Cardiff or bristol city to win tommorrow so hopefully I'm right and a little gap starts to appear

Our midfield 3 of Coutts, Fleck and Duffy is the best midfield I’ve seen at SU since I’ve been going from the mid 70’’s. We’ve played those 3 players in almost every match for nearly 18 months.

The central 2 of Coutts and Fleck have an almost telepathic understanding of pass and move playing simple quick passing possession football. So if we lose 1 of that close knit unit then I’m expecting their effectiveness to initially struggle.

Coutts was suspended for our home match against Ipswich and that was one of our weaker displays, although Ipswich were set up negatively trying to frustrate and then counter.

So with Coutts expected to be out for the season Sheff United’s promotion chances have taken a big hit. Hopefully Wilder will perform another miracle and find a quality player to seamlessly slot in but it’s a tall order.

Our next game is home to Fulham Tuesday night, it’s now a massive match, fail to win that or perform under par and some Blades will be predicting that we’ll struggle without Coutts.

Never mind us struggling his career is now virtually gonna be finished. He's 29 year old and it's took him till now to start showing championship quality and dominating midfields. Players never ever recover properly from broken legs and the fact he will be 30 year old the amount of time it will take him to even start to get into any form again I just can't see it happening unfortunately for him.

Last time we lost an important player to a broken leg was rob hulse in the premier league. March the 17th it was I think cos I remember it being st Patrick's day away at Chelsea , we were about 10 points clear of safety and ended up down

Good win for us today. Thought the worse when we went one down, but one thing I will say about Bruce, is that he's gave us a bit of steel. Years gone by, once we go behind that's it. Sunderland next which I expect us to win, no excuses.

How the fuck Brentford didn't get at least a point I'll never know. Win is a win though so I don't care and it keeps us within touching distance.

Must be the 10th or so time an opposition team have said that this season
