Haven't Barnet had something like 6 managers in the last 18 months?

Although Tony K didn’t directly succeed Stan Flashman as chairman.

Now that I've recovered from the amazing news that McGhee will no longer grace us with his shit presence I can spare the time to make a proper post.

There's still a lot going on behind the scenes at the club (and has been for a while) that only those close to it know about (or these things are rumoured about at best). I can't divulge everything but what I would say is don't presume that TK has laid everything bare with his statement. There are a lot of lies and purposeful misinterpretations in there to make him seem humble and apologetic without admitting or mentioning about 85% of the other stuff that goes on. For instance - of course managers weren't joining us 'because we're bottom'! It's because TK is known throughout the land to be an utter prick to work under and all agents, representatives etc know this. Just one of many examples (obviously I can't go into specifics about this or anything else unfortunately).

Also - McGhee was more of a prick than people can ever imagine but even he got completely shat on by TK at times. I'm sure he's very relieved to be out of the club as much as I am.

I don't think we'll stay up and I don't like MA despite his success with us. But I do look forward to him hopefully getting the best out of Akinde again as he's been utterly shit for the last few months.

I know he isn't a very likable fella and bit of a mercenary manager but it seems strange that Barnet fans have so little affection for a guy that won them the Conference/National League title at only their second attempt from a league that is well known for being very hard to get out of even after the introduction of two promotion places, as well as saving their arses on a couple of occasions.

Was it the style of football, his personality, his seeming lack of commitment or any from the above that rankled with fans?

I’m putting myself out there now - I reckon Barnet will stay up. Allen will be the difference.

Personally I think they’d be better off getting relegated with a sensible structure to bounce back for the long term than the short term fix of Allen (what happens next season?) but I do think they’ll stay up now.

They're about 3.5/1 to stay up when I checked this morning, which isn't good enough to tempt me. I thought they'd be longer than that.

Allan at Eastleigh? and hasn't he had heart problems?
Not sure
Eastleigh is a poisoned chalice to be fair. They're not doing any better this year. Atrocious when I saw them at Maidenhead a couple of weeks ago.

We played them on Saturday and they were pretty poor, we should've beaten them.

I understand why Allen went there, because as we all know he is a mercenary, but as you say that club is a poisoned chalice right now, they don't invest money into players the righ way. When Allen left, I believe he made a comment about a lack of harmony behind the scenes as well.

Medals has actually outdone himself here.

Any chairman that gives him another chance should be lynched.

I don’t think he’s been the same as a manager since the Preston job broke him.

He was already broke, I think the job at North End just proved he completely fluked it with Stevenage.

I may be wrong but Allen leaving for Eastleigh was, at the time, mutual. Fans were critical of the style of play and some of his signings, in spite of us being upwardly mobile in terms of our league position.

TK wanted someone to blood more of the youngsters and IMO Allen was not prepared to do this as he didn’t believe they were ready. Allen leaving (with us receiving compensation) was at the time, a good outcome for both TK and Allen.

With the benefit of hindsight, Allen should have stayed, with Eames or someone else young with potential being made his assistant with a longer term view to take over. Such is life.

How many of those have been Martin Allen though?
Its a bit misleading but still an appalling record.

Allen 4 times, Fairclough 3 times and I think Rossi 3 times. 13 different people have been manager or joint manager since 2010.

IIRC we only had 6 managers between 1997 and the end of 2010 and two of those were John Still.

We've had three managers since 2010. Abbot, Kavanagh and now Curle, and Kavanagh's reign was barely 12 months long.

Waits for inevitable Exeter fan response.

Tisdale might be gone tomorrow... the last two manager we've faced (Westley and Sarrl) are both gone.

Changes in management are never ideal during the season, but there must be some correlation between higher numbers of managers a club has in a defined period and your performance on the pitch (presumably a negative one - unless you're Watford)

I'm sure there is but high manager turnover is as much a symptom as it is a cause of underperformance. I think a lot of is it because sacking the manager is the only real tool available to a beleaguered owner. I'm sure there's a correlation between performance and number of players used per season, we used over 50 in the season we were relegated which seems par for the course for relegation candidates.

Normally when a new Manager comes in, the club has a mini run of say 3 wins from 5, or 4 wins + 1 draw from 8. We have not had any of that with all of our managers this season, so is our luck about to change? In 38 league games this season, only 5 times have we scored more than 1 goal. At the moment, Akinde has not scored in the last 12 games, and Shaq not scored in last 16. With MA back, anything might happen, but at least our last 8 games could be very interesting now, instead of the season just petering out for us. I would imagine Chesterfield, Grimsby, Port Vale & Morecambe will all be thinking twice now about us finishing bottom.

Just had a go at this and ended up with a very tight outcome;

17 - Port Vale (51)
18 - Morecambe (49)
19 - Yeovil (46)
20 - Forest Green (45)
21 - Barnet (44)
22 - Grimsby (43)
---------------------
23 - Crewe (43)
24 - Chesterfield (38)

Given that it doesn't factor in goal difference and Grimsby's is currently much worse than Crewe, I'd probably have those two swapped round. 14 points from eight games seems high for Barnet though, can't remember any of the results I put in!
