I am going to say that the two relegated will be Barnet and either Grimsby or vale. Can see chesterfield getting out. If they can use their games in hand wisely and get at point at vale park.
All to play for.

A football club needs a good owner. Our main driver of the last ten years of success is sound stable owner who doesn’t blurt off in the media..instead just quietly goes about his business running a well run football club.
Perhaps you need to go backwards to go forwards. Shows how far u have fallen since we lost out to you on the promotion season - we have raised our profile and got to the championship and you are staring the conference in the face. And it’s all down to a leadership.
Fuck the clown off. Sounds a dickhead. And disconnect his internet so you don’t have to read his tweets and online rants.
Professionalism of a club starts at the top.

When he first came in he had Wildes who had great ideas and was a PR man... that helped the early days then they fell out.

It all went wrong after the cup game at Exeter and just spiralled as one balls up after another... I mean what chairman dismantles a solid league one side that was in the play off hunt until the second last game over a cup loss? All we needed to do was tweak that squad and we could have gone a step further. It wasn’t massively far away and had a solid core like Dickinson, Dodds, Duffy, O’Connor and had been improved with Grant and Alnwick... somehow we even had AJLS as a goal machine... he totally dismantled it over losing to Exeter as explained more tonight because he had given Page another 450k to improve the squad and the loss left him incensed...

So we go to the foreign experiment with Bruno... then Brown the Clown... stick with Brown the Clown... and on and on.

He wouldn’t have hired Aspin I doubt unless fans pressure hadn’t told... he admitted tonight he was close to hiring Westley...

It’s a spiral to oblivion as it stands... we must survive this season and hope Aspo and Rudge can pull further miracles out of hats in the summer.

Lot will depend how quick Pope gets back... we’ve started creating chances... 40 crosses against a promotion hunter... Tom Pope is on the end of them rather than Tyrone Barnett we win that comfortably... if we can keep creating as we have lately upon his return we should pick up points...

How is your club structure divided up, and who owns what? I think I remember that Smurf has spilt it in to three companies (but I very much could be wrong on that).

I'd agree with you on that and even if we somehow get away with it this year it's only delaying it for one more year. As it happens I will take us to get something from Crewe away and maybe someone like Cambridge too though more in hope than anything else.

Agree with your previous post too, Burton are pretty much everything we are not in the way you've been run so it's not a massive surprise to me the trajectories of our two clubs since that 7-1 game.

Got to admire Smurthwaites suggestion of each of the 3000 hardcore fans raise £270 each to cover the shortfall. I will even credit it as the closest he's come to a plan since he took over.

Good question and one I don’t think is totally clear... Ground and Club are separate... believe the retail side is too.. shop and ticket office.

This is common though in football (sure Crewe are similar and Mansfield fans may have mentioned it) assume there’s a business reason behind that.

Reading some of the Vale stuff is scarily similar to what's going on down here.

I'm just hoping we somehow have more fight in us than either Vale or Grimsby, though there's precious little evidence of it so far.

We’ve plenty of fight that’s not the problem... Pope and Worrall aside though not much quality.

I dont believe a word he says, its never his fault is it? We arein a mess mainly of his making and the finances are less than clear.

The finances plainly dont add up! How can we be losing that much? When our income isnt that bad?

Interesting to see if the £1.6 Million wage budget is correct.

If we stay up Norman can fuck off.

If we go down Norman can fuck off.

The fact he sat there like a smug little c*** last night and actually said that the fans shouldn’t protest to show their discontent but that our solid core of around 3000 should actually all pay £270 to prove to him that we want him gone. What kind of moron would say that?

The daft c*** is up to something and it’s only a matter of time before it all comes out. We’ve been here before with previous regimes and it will all be found out.

Personally, I think that the fans should be protesting outside the main entrance and storming the board room. I’m sure I remember flares being used outside the ground during previous protests. There should also be another coffin march. Staying quiet and being passive will only get us so far. We need to take action now before this circus clown leads us into the abyss which we will never return from.

Or Leyton Orient or Tranmere, who have had similar falls from grace.

Obviously we all know it's not easy at a club of modest size and stature like the above to balance success on the pitch (in this case at least established League One status) with financial security as there are so many variables that affect things for better or for worse (injuries/suspensions, personal problems, managers not working out, sheer luck etc) but surely heads should roll regarding the way those clubs have been mismanaged in recent years, not just within their fanbases but among the football community at large.

I fear you may be another Oxford with Uncle Norman taking the ground and matchday revenue (except ticket money), and you lot being left as tennants paying him rent for the ground. I can't see why he'd have split the club in to different companies otherwise.

It’s nothing to do with bad luck. It’s everything to do with owner’s intentions. Invariably they are looking after themselves and to hell with the clubs.

Some clubs survive their owners. Some don’t.

Best bit when he denied telling a fan the value of exclusivity had come to 200k.... so they produced the email he sent them telling them!

The comment about fans not protesting and doing something useful and paying the short fall is just crazy. He is terrible with PR but even thats too far!

To be blunt, any owner of any club separating the ground from the club is terrible news and there's usually a pretty clear avenue which clubs take after this has happened, and it's not a pretty one.

Good to know that the FA and their fit and proper test helps out again!

You see it at vale, you see it at Chesterfield and countless places before - including ourselves.

Yeah. I believe there are 2/3 different companies for the club, ground and sportswear side of things.

I wasn’t sure before but I am now convinced that he is siphoning off cash somewhere then pumping part of it back in to cover “losses”. There is also nearly £3million in player sales/sell ons that we are being told has been used to cover costs. When/if it is found out that he is taking the piss then there will be an absolute kick off over it.

It is interesting that the fans currently making claims are the same fans that uncovered the truth about V2001/MOLD and they genuinely aren’t the sort of people that would just make these sort of claims against him; these are people that have been fans for 30-40 years.

I would like the local journos to actually look into this properly, use any contacts they might have and do some real digging to find out the truth so we can crucify Gorman.

Something needs doing. The club will die as it is. Imagine after last night any defeat next Friday might see protests really flair up?

I don't get why any chairman would want to take over a football club with no interest in football at all??

The Pozzos have been rightly praised for running Watford not merely as a business but a football club at the heart of the local community with a great respect for its history and ethos, but while they have done indeed great things for the club above and beyond what was expected, you would still expect at any club the chairman to have some semblance of footballing interest/knowledge as a bare minimum.

Aren’t the oystons from Blackpool? Which if correct proves that a local connection is of no advantage at all in some cases

Sorry to go off topic, but in six seasons at Watford, three managers have lasted the full season (Zola, Flores and Mazzarri) - that's half the Pozzo era, hardly rare.

Three others left of their own accord (Zola, Sannino and Garcia) and only two were sacked mid-season (McKinlay and Silva, the latter for a good reason). OK, the letting go of Jokanovic and to a lesser extent Flores was debatable (though Flores had clearly lost interest and the powers-that-be were worried our poor form was going to carry on into next season), as was McKinlay after such a short time if only on a personal level, but all the other departures were justifiable from the manager and chairman's point of view (either ill health, or just not doing the job well enough).

BTW, I notice Yeovil (who could be considered part of the relegation scrap, although they are only outsiders at worst) are not playing this weekend due to several of their players being on international duty - their game at Accrington interestingly being the only League 2 fixture being postponed. Does anyone know who those internationals are, and what countries they represent?

We could soon be checking into the mid table thread 2 up at Newport and well on the way to back to back wins and 7 points out of the last 9 away from home.

I think after midweek you were home and hosed at that point. Today just puts the exclamation point on it.
