I would say if both you and us lose our games Saturday it confirms it's basically over in terms of survival and becomes a straight fight between us over who finishes bottom.

That could be an interesting battle at least, Might even deserve it's own thread with listed run ins and such.

I understand FGR's and Sutton's pessimism but there is often a team that drops into the mire after looking clear.

Keep the faith. Three straight wins and suddenly...?

Great theory...we have won four games in the league all season, if we win three in a row even I will be writing to the league asking for them to investigate!

We've won 14 of our last 91 league matches. Less than 1 in 6. So it'll need an improvement to get another 3 wins in the whole rest of the season, never mind in a row.

3 straight wins? We’ve not won back-to-back games in a little under 12 months, expecting us to win 3 in a row is pushing it

I think you've been drinking something very potent to think either FGR or Sutton could go on a three win run!

Last season we were just about the worst team I've seen in the football league.

Then. 3rd manager of the season managed to grab enough points to finish 3rd from bottom.

3 in a row may be asking too much but you never know in football.

True, anything can happen in football but not that. :bg:

Thankfully we're out of it unless we go on a major slump. No offence to any club in danger but I hope Sutton escape the drop.

Sutton have to win tomorrow. If they lose they're down imo.

Sadly I think we will be too...far too big a gap to make up...half our remaining games are against teams in the promotion and play-off positions.

Eight games without a win for us. We only need 3-4 wins so we might be okay. Worry for next season if Alexander is ehre.

I would tend to agree, it might not even take that much, I reckon everyone from Bradford up is already safe...barring a complete implosion...Salford are almost there too. Grimsby, Doncaster and Colchester should be OK, unless they fade really badly...it is looking like ourselves and Sutton going down, unless we can somehow find promotion form from somewhere...bloody unlikely!

I wish I could offer up some words of encouragement. Oh wait. You have to come to us, don't you? There are three points for you right there ;)

We still have to play Wrexham and Mansfield twice, plus Barrow, Crewe, MK Dons, Notts County and Stockport...we are going down!

As you were then, with the bottom 5 all drawing. Games slowly slipping away for Sutton and FGR, both had great chances to win today. Sutton 1-0 up and blowing it in the final few minutes is heartbreaking for them. 2 home games pass by and only 1 point to show for them. FGR being 2-0 up at Colchester and having to battle back for a draw as well isn't ideal.

Donny save themselves with a last minute penalty, but they are still looking in big trouble for me. Colchester will be disappointed to let their lead slip after 3 goals in 6 minutes as well. Grimsby get a solid point at Accy, but need wins soon. The rest of the pack above them look too far away to be caught, but worrying form for several of them. Salford look destined for mid-table as they look a different side under Karl Robinson unfortunately.

Next Week's Fixtures:

Saturday 10th February
Doncaster Rovers
v Tranmere Rovers
Forest Green Rovers v Mansfield Town
Grimsby Town v Stockport County
Harrogate Town v Colchester United
Morecambe v Sutton United
Swindon Town
v Salford City
Wrexham v Bradford City

Some tough games ahead for the strugglers. Donny are barely scraping results, so against an improving Tranmere side, I'm not sure. FGR, Grimsby, Colchester and Bradford all play promotion chasers. Sutton have a chance at Morecambe, who are finding wins at home tough to come by. Salford you'd back to beat Swindon the way both sides are playing.

Can FGR or Sutton make it interesting? Time is running out.

Conceding 3 goals in 5 minutes in a must win game against one of the few teams we can (semi) realistically catch is the mark of a relegation side.

Yeah and drawing to Doncaster at home conceding a shambles of a last minute of added time pen is also a decent hallmark of one. Doncaster are also terrible but too much to do now.

You've had a go at the National League and we haven't. It's our turn. Stop being so bloody selfish!

9 games still to play against teams in the automatic or play off positions is brutal;- we've only 1 left.

Tbh the way it's looking right now by the time we play most of the top teams we'll probably be as good as down anyway so the result will be irrelevant.

Same as the last 10 games of last season where we played a load of promotion chasing sides when we were so far adrift that no one cared anymore and we ended up 17 points behind 23rd.
