Gary Brabin is camped outside the deva as we speak. Instead of a shirt with home bargains across the front he is now dressing himself in Tesco carrier bags so that he looks the part.

Neil Young is free these days....

Neil Young is always at our matches, but only as a fan and representative of sponsors Merseyrail, with whom he works.

He's had enough of management after stepping into the basket-cases that were Stockport County and Altrincham.

Odds from Bet Victor:
Gary Brabin 4/1
John Askey 5/1
Graham Barrow 5/1
Tom Shaw 6/1
Marcus Bignot 6/1

No chance Askey will leave us for Chester.

Bignot now favourite after publicly declaring that he wants the job.

Is that true?
Because I've heard he's got a well-paid job outside football lined up and doesn't want to be considered for the Barrow job, where he's currently helping out.

Yep. Works at Solihull College. Saw it announced the other week.

Heard today that John Askey is desperate to land the Chester job, but I think it will go to Marcus Bignot.

Askey is a time-waster so I wouldn't bother even thinking about him. He's been at Macc for 45 years and is scared to go anywhere else.

You could tell the barrow players were buying into bignots ideas during the pre match warm up today.

Brabin will do well at chester, he will double their points but half their gates.

Could chester not afford a cheeky attempt to pinch chris kinnear?

Think Justin Edinburgh was down here as well today, unless it was a clone.

Pretty sure he's a teacher by week.

Thanks luke , he sure taught us a lesson last week.

Edinburgh would be an amazing acquisition by chester, ive always put him forward when we have been recruiting a manager.

Kinnear's a PE teacher on South London somewhere.
No idea how old he is, but he was 1st player-manager in the 1985/86 season

Now suggested that it's not Westley anymore, but somebody employed elsewhere. Rumours include Kevin Wilkin (Brackley) and Lee Hodges (Truro).

Can't say either...excite me really. Wilkin struggled at Wrexham (perhaps may have done more with more time?) but Hodges would be another ex-player, and I don't think that'd go down well with fans.

That's the first I've heard about Askey. Would be surprised if he ended up at Chester. No disrespect to Chester but there are better jobs out there if he wanted them - including the one he's got already. Shouldn't have thought our budgets are too different (especially once you've paid us compensation for Askey), plus Macc aren't in a relegation battle.

I think we've got the potential to be a bigger team than Macclesfield (72 years a FL club), but fan-owned ain't all it's cracked up to be. It'll probably work for teams like Wimbledon, but even tinpot teams like Guiseley and Solihull have more money than us. I think Bignot will get the job and because we couldn't afford the compo for Askey he's safe with you. I doubt his magic would work with us anyway.

Chester are obviously the bigger club, but I don't think it's the right move for either Askey or Chester, so I'd be very surprised if it happened. If Port Vale continue to do badly though....

Keep an eye on our former manager Dermot Drummy. He did a great job off the pitch for us with the community and rebuilding the club. Even with results being not so good towards the end he did an decent job keeping us in the league. Record of being a good coach I'd give him a good chance of getting the role if interested.

Bignots team and set up where poor against us and relied a lot on Bogle.
