Who will be the new boss at Chester ? Step forward Mr Brabin - He will certainly apply. Maybe Stephen Burr will return.Mark Wright or perhaps Stephen Vaughan Jnr may want to fulfill his destiny and manage the club he once captained!!!!

Hasn't applied. Likes his job at Sunderland.

He's a Gateshead fan. But I don't think anyone else would disagree with the fact that Chester are obviously a bigger club than Macc, both in terms of history and support.

The old Chester were yeah but this current Chester is pretty much on a par with Macc I'd say, all things considered. There's more chance of Macc getting out of this league than there is Chester.

Edit: Upwards I mean...

Not sure what anything you’ve just said is relevant to the size of the clubs debate, but there you go.

It’s all a bit school playground this but to settle it - We’re a bit better supported, Macc have a better team at the moment.

John Askey to Port Vale? Unlikely but there are rumours. I for one am in the minority here but I wouldn't be bothered if he left. There is a reason why nobody has taken a punt on him. Negative manager in terms of tactics and sticks to playing his 'favourites' who don't seem to offer much to the side.

Either Askey is a good manager who has kept Macclesfield in a position far above where their budget would naturally place them. Or he's an average manager who makes a big deal about having no money as a ready made excuse. I've always wondered how he mabages to get the players he has to sign for the club if they are so skint. They must all be taking huge paycuts.

Interesting comparing the vacant manager jobs at Chester and Barrow, as it's a lot of the same names being touted.
Both decisions are due to be made this week.

Bignot has been involved with us for a few weeks, but he's favourite for the Chester job - Barrow fans don't seem to want him as results have been poor since he's been here, but Chester fans seem quite keen (favourite on the Chronicle poll, anyway).
Also, 10 candidates have reportedly expressed an interest in the Chester job, and only two have in the Barrow job (one being Grant Holt). However, it looks like we're about to settle for the man who has overseen the past six games - one win, three draws, two defeats - and very much the cheap option.
Hard to think of anyone half decent who is realistically available to either of us, but I think it's testament to how badly things have gone for us lately that seemingly nobody of note has applied for our job.

Mark Yates left his role with our U23's yesterday. Could potentially join Barrow or Chester.

Haven't followed non league very closely since we escaped it but I thought that you had a bit of cash to chuck at it, so surely you should be able to attract a decent manager rather than going for the cheap option?
We went for the cheap option when Mike Newell was sacked by appointing Neil Woods and spent 6 years in non league because of it, well worth paying a bit more to make sure you get the right guy in in my opinion.

We had a bit of money to chuck at it in Conference North, but compared to everyone else in this division we're probably spending around what most sides are now. The crowds just haven't come in, as hoped, so there seems to be a reluctance to spend big - Cox's style of football (though grossly exaggerated) hasn't won a lot of admirers, and the chairman is desperate to play attractive football. Micky Moore (who I gather was your assistant for a bit) seems happy to bow to that request regardless, and in doing so has probably bagged himself the job. As we all know though, winning brings the crowds in.

I'd be all for spending a bit more for the right man - I just don't think the right man is available, nor can anyone really identify who that could possibly be.

I expect that if Graham Barrow wants our job again he’ll get it. I wouldn’t be disappointed as his reputation alone should give us all a bit of a lift. Always a risk appointing club legends though and I would have some doubts at the back of my mind.

If it’s not him I’d expect it to be Bignot or Richard Money, who has also been revealed to have applied. Only doubt about him is working with our tighter budget.

Micky Moore to be appointed new Barrow manager at 3pm (it seems).

Not overly happy with that.

I wonder if Marcus knows how desperately poor we are and 2/5 for relegation.

Who's Micky Moore?
http://barrowafc.com/team-member/micky-moore/

Micky Moore began his career as a player with Derby County and Swansea, but was forced into early retirement with a back injury at the age of 29.

He went into coaching and is now a UEFA A licensed coach.

Micky has previously been manager at Solihull, as well as Assistant manager at Mansfield, where he and Paul Cox worked together. He also had a spell as assistant manager at Grimsby Town, adding to his wealth of non-league and football league experience.

Was Bignot's assistant basically. Very surprised he hasn't followed him over there, though I suppose Gary Whild will.

Time will tell. Not sure what he's done to get his reputation - manager of an average Solihull team until he was given enough cash to get promoted by adopting much of the ex-Kidderminster side. Poor at Grimsby and unpopular with the players there too... Maybe he'll work out, but I wouldn't be confident as a Chester fan he'll be any savior....

That's the last we'll see of Barrow then.

In respect of Conference North.
