Doubt it, it's the worst Tranmere team he's ever seen.

Liam Watson will take over again soon, it's all he ever does.

Micky Mellon must be the next manager in danger of the chop. Bromley away and then Leyton Orient home - unless he gets at least 4 points from those games I think he is in trouble. Perhaps Ronnie Moore is already waiting in the wings - ready for a return!!

Mellon was meant to be the guarantee of promotion. I'm not sure who they can get who is better/more proven than him. I still think they'll comfortably be in the playoffs even if he stays, they've simply got too many good players.

Although there is unrest, I highly doubt Mellon is going anywhere soon. We're skint and can't afford to sack him. I know looking at the squad, people will laugh at that statement but we really don't appear to have a penny left - budget is spent, still got Alabi to pay for and numerous losses over the summer. Unless we are in the bottom 4 for a sustained period (5+ games) I think Mellon will be given at least this season.

As for Moore - I love Ronnie, he's been one of the best managers in my lifetime, but enough is enough. Time to move on and stop living in the past. I'd rather give Andy Parkinson a go if Mellon left, as our youth team are currently top of the league, unbeaten and won a cup last season.

I don't think Mellon's future is that secure. Smaller squad, ill-balanced lacking pace and width and a continuing rift with Cook, who's undoubtedly our best forward. Seems to be pinning all of his hopes on the soon to return Ben Tollitt, good player but only a kid and may take him time to get back into the swing of things.

If the crowds keep dropping think the Palioi will have to act. It's disappointing, as thought things would be going a lot better. Currently we're more likely to do a Stockport than a Lincoln.

I agree with Boz. If there is even a remote possibility of relegation Palios will get rid of Mellon, even if he has to pay £50-100,000 out of his own pocket. He has been ruthless on and off the pitch since arriving at the club and I don't think Mellon's CV will save him indefinitely. Relegation would ruin all the plans the owners have in place and would be the effective death knell of the club.

Having said all of that, we must be absolutely skint at the moment as we have not even brought in a loan signing, which is incredible given how we have been performing.

The concern for me is that Mellon's performance has mirrored exactly what happened at Shrewsbury, where he had a great first season and then struggled badly for eighteen months, despite having a competitive budget. Look at how they have performed since he left. I honestly can't see him turning it around.

Ok they are a bit off the pace for a shot at the title but talk of potential relegation seems a tad OTT

Tranmere's start this season mirrors a lot the season we had after our 98 point season..
Morrell took over about a month in (as per Mellon with 95) and took the club to 98 points and so close to promotion. The next season was more or less the same team but with a huge lull and we just started horrendously and never recovered, when everyone thought we would as we still had a good team.
Morrell eventually left by mutual consent I think after a few more months than this; into early next year off top of my head, and several seasons later we've been bang average apart from the early spell in Mills' first season.
Hope for their sake it doesn't take them as long to sort themselves out as we have after the come down of getting so close to going back up.

The season after our 98pts was Wembley loss v Newport. That was the end of the road for that team and they didn't recover. Talk of Tranmere going down is nonsense, as said elsewhere too many good players, although confidence is rock bottom. The danger for Tranmere is finding themselves adrift of the play-offs if their former continues.

Ah yes course! Had done very well to block that fateful Wembley trip from memory!
Still kind of similar then, both struggling to recover from defeat in the PO final

Playoff final losers struggling a bit the following season is definitely a thing.

I think Neil Ashton actually said how it took it's toll on the Wrexham squad. The feeling in the dressing room perhaps not quite as buoyant as it had been previously under Morrell. That could be seen as an excuse I suppose, made by a player declining in their career, but more than one player's form dipped considerably that season after Newport.

I don't think it's a thing anymore. Last 2 playoff final losers went and won the final the following season.

A squad always needs a freshening up as well. Not sure if Tranmere had many ins and outs, but I've always looked at squads as 3 year cycles.

90% of their squad is overweight.

Was never going to work at that level, Mills is a dinosaur with training methods that are 30 years out of date. I expect him to pop up as a BT Sport regular now.

Unlike York's Chairman to act as swiftly as that?

We're absolute shite and I never wanted him back in the first place, we're a joke, a total joke club sleep walking to oblivion, being mid table in the Conference North should never, ever, be seen as "decent", anything less than being near the top is an abject failure.

Had Newton thrown his toys out of the pram yet? Once Mills was sacked at our place he just stopped trying. They have some sort of weird relationship.
