To be fair, it required an excellent save from Vigoroux to deny Dickenson first half, that shot was worth us going 2-0 up.

Abrahams was good again but he gets into positions to cross it and there's nobody looking to get onto it, not even Mellish. Clough had a greater impact today than he did at Port Vale so hopefully he's approaching match fitness .
That's what you get playing a winger as a lone striker.

To be fair it was a good save by their keeper, Dickenson did everything right. 2-0 at that point would've been telling because Orient were still on the bus.

Well deserved win for us today, tight first half, only Burey's individual bit of skill for the goal was the difference, second half it was all us, really should've had four, including our own striker blocking Fergusons goal bound shot bang on the line with the keeper beat.

Walsall's back line looked very poor and they have a kamikaze keeper who just kept flying off his line at every opportunity wiping everyone out in his way.

Zaine France Angol was MOTM, started a bit shaky but just did everything so well, solid performance, chuffed as owt tonight, DC has almost single handedly made Pools such a positive place to be at, it's enjoyment to watch us again.

Brilliant shithousing at the end, too! Anthony Grant and Jonny Williams go to the top of the class!
Granty's always at it nice to see he's got a sidekick!

Mansfield generally played the better football, but Bradford look equally dangerous, and with them being away you’d expect them to be more countering. I think we were the better team untill we scored the second and lost all composure and after that I’d say Bradford edged it.

I think a point was a fair result, but obviously Cook got himself in a good position and the ball fell perfectly for a tap in, which is shitty for us but how it goes I suppose.

I’m most disappointed in Bradford first goal, good header but he was completely unmarked and it’s just not good enough defending, also why did we not do anything about the obvious overloading of Bradford players down the right? Bizarre, just feels a bit of a self-implosion from Mansfield perspective.

I think overall losing that is a cruel ending, but it was generally a good game between two decent sides, and Bradford look a good side, and I’m sure they can say the same about Mansfield despite the result.

Deserved defeat today. Our gaffer said the offside everyone went bat shit at for the second was the correct call so no complaints there. Rochdale just had a bit more guile and creativity and hit us on the break to make it 3.

Bit worrying how quickly we ran out of ideas. Also a special mention to the referee who was absolutely fucking dreadful. Dale got everything all afternoon and there were some truly baffling decisions in there.

I’m hugely concerned. I’m obviously pleased to have 6 points on the board, but I really can’t see us winning many games over the coming months if we continue to play in this ineffective toothless way.

Beech surely has to change that front 3 for the next game. He must have seen enough to see that it simply isn’t working.

Oh, Gary Bowyer is a cnut. He pushed Jonny Williams over - not a little handbag shove but thrown to the ground. Someone should have decked the twat.

Would agree with that. Hawkins is an absolute nightmare to play against and gave us the run around the last time he played against us for Pompey in League One too.

I think its pretty clear that RB is our weakest area with Threlkeld being out and young Finn Cousing-Dawson being constantly targeted every game. No surprise to see Clough do the same today but I think the overloads were a bit OTT as all it took was one switch of play to Vernam on the turnover and he was 1v1.

Two good sides who should be in the top 3 come May.

Woeful in the final third.

Fitness levels and tactics are a concern regarding the last 20 minutes of games.

On that showing both Carlisle and Orient will be lucky to see the sunny side of 18th come the seasons end.

Vast improvement required from both.
The frustrating thing for us is we do have some really good players. We have two really good young full backs, Riley and Guy are both good in midfield. If we could just get to even a bog standard league 2 level in terms of attacking, we’d be a decent team. I just can’t see us troubling many teams and as well as we’ve defended (barring the 2 sloppy goals), we aren’t going to continue keeping teams as restricted as we have done, it’s just not realistic, we have to pose a threat ourselves otherwise we’ll end up dragged into the relegation mire.

I'm a little bit annoyed to have lost but only because it was two good teams and we were at least worth a draw. We self destructed. We could have prevented the goals by preventing the overloads on the right side of our team. I heard the team were straight out on the training field after the game.

I really can't fault Bradford. They barely wasted any time, they weren't dirty at all and they tried to play for the whole game. If we finish above them we'll stand a good chance of automatic promotion or maybe even champions.

I agree about bradford, can’t fault them, decent numbers decent noise and decent football.

The game changed when Maris went off injured. His replacement was young Stirk and was a rabbit caught in the headlights.

you just knew Cook would pop up with a goal.

Hewitt was left exposed at right back with Maris not there.

Quite a few missed chances and yet it still finished 6-3. Both sides will need to improve defensively I reckon but if we can keep scoring goals our leaky defence might not matter as much. Going forward we look unstoppable.

Score 3 away from home but still on the end of a tonking. Appiah's first goal for us lost in the mire that is our defending.

I still say our defence is good for this level but I'm really not sure what went on today. Francillette's 2nd ever league game so we need to cut him some slack but the other four today, plus the defending midfielders, need to hang their heads in shame.

I cant say too much as I wasn't there but letting in six goals is plain awful!

Cass had a decent game to be fair, he’s had to bide his time as Jones has been decent and obviously Benning is the big name but Benning has been dropped today fairly and he’s done a good job, interesting battle for that right spot when Gibbons is back as he’s an excellent right back so a good battle there. Considering we had Zak Mills all season or a centre half there it’s a huge upgrade!

I've just heard Clough's interview and I'm glad I'm not Hewitt. Accuses him of being too good mates with the Bradford player and failing to tackle him all game.

Great selection in the end like, can see why he done it, ZFA is a lot more comfortable on the ball than Timi and could add a Lewis Cass style dimension to the left flank if he keeps that display up.

Yes good times at the minute, DC has transformed the club on the pitch and made the Vic a difficult place to come.

I suppose we've come away from our opening 4 games with 6 more points than you predicted, and while we need to improve up front we still have players yet to have their say on the season, the same starting line up for all our league games so far but I think Mampala will grow into it, Clough will get match fit and Toure can still make an impact.

That was a standout game and performance today. I've never seen us looking more potent up front. Gapping wholes at the back at times though. This will happen because of how we're set-up. Some very good positional play though kept Crawley at bay, (also they were fully occupied at the other end). A couple of players fell to their knees at the end due to tiredness. That will be our enemy, we have Brentford on Tuesday and we could really do without that. Might be worth keeping an eye on the odds for a Port Vale win next Saturday.

Very happy tonight. Early days, but looks promising atm.

On a slightly shallow note the electronic add boards along the touchline look proper impressive and grown-up. They were ultra bright and florescent half an hour before the game. Then we ran them at half brightness. But impressed.

Aye, it's why he's the manager and I'm a Town End pleb.

Next Saturday should be fun

I’d keep my eye on the odds for a draw as that’s what we are starting to specialise in. Be a interesting game, we absolutely cannot afford another first half like today if we are to have a chance. If we do repeat it you’ll put us to the sword.

As I say, hopefullu Clough sorts the attacking creativity problem out.

Have you heard the Callum Guy to Wrexham rumours? That could be another big problem that’ll need solving if/when we cave in and sell.

I think Stirk did quite well when he came on, I heard the interview and yikes! I’ll be honest I think Clough deserves criticism for not being able to sort that out during the game.

Clough is fuming with Rawson too. I understand to a certain extent his anger because we shouldn’t have thrown that game away.

Not a particularly bad performance from Tranmere, just that Newport were more of a goal threat. Deserved victory for the Exiles.
I thought we deserved a point, but we missed some glaring chances again. I have no idea how Glatzel missed the target from ten yards in the first half.

The striker situation really has to be sorted this week.
