Not unless he can outspend his rivals like he could back then. I've read about some silly money being thrown around there when they started
Doubt we ever had the highest budget, certainly not when in the Conference North. We might have for the middle promotion after we'd batted off Fylde in the first year I suppose.

What NY did do was needlessly chop and change and bring numerous players in simply because he could. It was his undoing in the Conference Premier having to try and contend with a transfer window. He brought in rubbish and then couldn't really do much about it.

What's the general feeling on Greene because he seems to go from a good manager to a bad one with your supporters every 5 games or so.

Same as your lot with Moyses and we're both as consistent as eachother. General feeling is he's doing a decent job as many get the feeling our budget is maybe top 6 or top 8 but until he takes us up, not a great job.

In fairness, it's nearly 3 years ago he inherited a club 18th in the league getting 750 on a Saturday and 550 for his first game, a midweeker (think we averaged 900 that season). We got back 250 or so of the 500 who cleared off after Jason Lee took over in 2011 and our games are normally exciting at both ends, so he's made fair progress

Boston fan from Boston, living in Brum.
We put 4 past Stockport, who had plenty of the ball (especially early on) but did nothing with it. I've rarely seen a team lose their heads and discipline like they did after we started scoring, they were an embarrassment to the 121 who bothered coming down. Surprised they kept all 11 on the pitch. 3 wins in a row for us and we're starting to get to the stage where points on the board outweight opponents' games in hand. Taking advantage of winnable games over Xmas could see us cement a top 5 place.

It's the same old story whenever we play anybody decent - start well, dominate the opening 20 minutes, miss a few chances, concede the first goal, repeatedly get caught on the counter and completely lose our discipline.
Young is completely out of his depth and we are going backwards. He hasn't got his usual ploy of spending his way out of trouble and he hasn't got another string to his bow. He is working with an increased budget this year to our manager last year and we are no better, in fact we are probably worse, he should resign but he is desperately hanging on for a payoff I think.

We've got Lowestoft twice over Xmas. Really think they're the sort of side, like Gloucester and many of the other southernmost sides in the North, you have no excuse not to take 6 points off. (Yet we have a dire record at Worcester)

Their woeful. We have the embrassment of being the first side they have ever done the double over at Conf North Level:ffs:

Tamworth 1-2 Alfreton (Strong 63, Jones 5, Miekle 69)

Hurrah!! Some much needed Christmas Cheer! A precious victory. Didnt travel. (Never do on Boxing day) so cant really comment. Judging by Twitter though we were much like the early season Alfreton Town who competed well and were the better side for the first half and deservedly went in 1 -0 up at HT.. Tamworth didnt leave the dressing room for the first half. Perhaps one too many last night?!

Tamworth improved in the second half as they couldnt play any worse by all accounts.. We showed some fight and held them at bay quite well. We could do nothing though about an absolute screamer from 35 yards which made it 1-1 . Bemoaning our luck again tthe Superb Lindon Meikle popped up with a stunner of his own with 21 minutes to play to bag a vital win.

We really do like to put ourselves through it though! The Hapless Tom Allan gifted them a pen after a clumsy challenge but Matt Duke saved our bacon with a fine save! Keeps Nicky in his job for a while longer. Just.

Unfortunately several others at the bottom won but we move one place to 15th.

Some surprising results. Boston can kiss good bye to the play offs if your losing 3-0 at bloody Lowestoft!

I think you're a jinx mate.
Seems that way doesnt it?!

Funny enough in our only other victory in the past 12 games at Harrogate I decided I was going to leave the press box and stand with our supporters for the first time ever. It seemed to have the desired effect. Might try that again!!

We'd still been on the lash. A truly horrific performance to lose 3-0 at Lowestoft, who really could have had a couple more. Not seen us that bad since perhaps Hednesford (at least we got 2 goals that day). Lowestoft much better, did what they needed to

Moors 3-1 Nuneaton. Former Nuneaton player Andy Brown scored an excellent header for us. Looked in control as soon as Nunny went down to 10 men and only conceded 16 goals this season.
Making my first trip to Alfreton tomorrow - any chance of being called off darksithlord?

Not sure we can kiss top 5 goodbye. We're 4 points better off than we were last year and have a run of games to propel us nicely into the last 10 matches which look more tricky

You can't rule yourselves out with Soutthwell up front. Is it the same team that made it to the playoffs last season? You hammered us 4-1 at the end of last season.

Not sure mate. I will hear from the groundsman in the Morning. Id say its very much touch and go. Its rained on and off today and all last night.

He's injured until end of January and Dylan McEvoy, who has been very reliable at left back is also out with a calf injury, possibly until new year. We'll see how we get on. Fortunately, the fixtures we have I'd hope we could cope without them but boxing day was a disaster. Win these next 2 and Xmas has been OK. Anything less and it's been disappointing given the opposition

Drew 2-2 away at Alfreton. Nice ground apart from the stewards stopping you standing right behind the goal. Alfreton look like a good team with pacy players, I'm surprised they are that low down the league.

Beat Gainsborough 1-0. Shaded the first half and scored bang on half time. Dominant in the 2nd half and only poor finishing & good last ditch blocks kept us from winning by more and we had to survive a couple of nervy moments at the end but deserved the win.

Excellent crowd too of 1889 (86 away). Bit of a shame those extra 700 home fans didn't come and support us more this season though

You must be delighted to have left with a point tonight. On another day you could have lost by 4. Can see why your where you and have tasted defeat just once. Think you will be promoted for sure. See my match report.

Sorry to hear about the stewards.

Alfreton 2-2 Solihull Moors (Smith 23, Bradley (p) 75, Knights 45, Armson 90)

Well I am lost for words on how we didn't win Today. It was our best Performance by quite a way for at least 18 months. All those raving about our boxing day performance have a point. We look totally transformed! Nicky has since said some stern words were said before the Tamworth and it safe to say that whatever he said had the desired effect!!

First off let me say that Solihull were very impressive and we be promoted IMO. Its a good sign when you are absolutely pummelled for two halves of football but managed to draw each one 1-1 and come out with a very fortunate draw.

On another day we would have beat Solihull by 4 or 5. Sam Smith was fantastic and had his best game in an Alfreton shirt. Tom Allan and Niall Heaton also shone brightly. While Solihull couldn't cope with the pace and directness of Meikle and the Immense Sam Jones.

We started on the front foot from the off and never really took our foot off the pedal. Sam Jones saw a shot cannon off the post on 15 while Smith saw his follow up saved and Bradleys shot was then cleared away superbly by a Solihull Defender. We then deservedly took the lead on 23 after a great industrious run by Jones down the left was turned home by Sam Smith after he reacted quickest after Dan Bradley saw his shot saved by the keeper.

Further shots from Jones and Bradley were saved before Moors broke with pace from Nothing and Dean poked it through to Knights he fired past Duke to make it 1-1.

It was end to end in the second half with both sides going for a winner. Smith had a shot cleared off the line before our pressure was finally rewarded on 75 when Jones was sent sprawling by Nottingham for an absolute stone wall penalty.
Bradley smashed home to make it 2-1. Minutes late Allan crashed an volley against the post. Before the same man fired a quality across the face which somehow nobody in an Alfreton or Solihull shirt turned home!

Then Heartbreak in the 90th as Moors launched a rare attack and after Knights found Armason he beat Duke at the 3rd attempt after his first two attempts came back off the bar to break Reds Hearts

Its amazing what a win and a bit of confidence can do though. The improvements from last Saturdays limp home defeat to Bradford PA is stark. Replicate todays performance and we will be absolute fine.

This is exactly what he is has done and it's awful.

He's completely out of his depth, if it wasn't for his past successes I would go as far to call him a complete fraud.

You were by far the better side. The stewards were very friendly, it's just irritating not being able to stand right by the advert boards, when we never have any problems when we allow this at the Autotech.
What is the name of your number 8?

Our Number 8 is Lindon Meikle. Clearly too good for this level. We have him on Non contract terms from Macclesfield. Think Barrow will be in for him in January though which will be a shame.
