Which end? Be nice to see Villa slumming it in the third tier again.
By all accounts our time in the third division in the early 70s started a bit of a revolution at the club. Can't see it happening again.

It's difficult if you're not very good, or not playing to the levels you should. It's very competitive mind.

Shows his ignorance, this league is the most difficult to get out of in the world. He should know, he's spunked enough money away trying and failing at it.

It's been like fantasy football at times. Going out buying a load of players for large sums of money. Anyone watching villa this season would know we just weren't good enough, end of.

It really isn't. Forge a set way of playing with a good team spirit and you're half way there.

You've just described Sheffield United in a nutshell and they didn't go up.

Teams have spent obscene amounts to get promoted down the years and it has backfired. Middlesbrough's owner said at the start of the season and I quote "we will smash the league" after spending upwards of £50m in the summer alone. There isn't a harder division in the world in terms of a competition. Anyone can beat anyone.

Sorry but after two horrible seasons for Birmingham n all the stick I got off villa fans it’s nice to see them fail in the play offs, possibly losing some keys players and having some tough times ahead now their parachute payments are gone :bg:

No surprise in what he says, but it's good to hear it from the man himself. This reminds me of when lerner took over the club. We spent millions. Infact we were one of the biggest spenders in Europe, and our wage bill was huge. We wasted a lot of money on players that weren't good enough to achieve our goal of finishing in the top 4. In the end the gamble never paid off, and the plug was pulled, and here we are in the championship because of it, and repeating the same mistakes again.

Interesting and depressing reads on our forums. Some saying that Xia wants out already, and would sell if he could. It seems will be selling some top players, and not bringing much in. Could be relying on the youth set up, which could be a positive and refreshing step. It could also see us down here for a bit. WIthout the coming and goings it's hard to say how we will do next season. It's been a bit of a disaster for Xia, but hopefully we can try and make the best out of a terrible situation. In this day and age with all the finances that come with playing in the top flight, saturdays game probably eclipsed the European Cup final game in 82 as sadly being more important. Just hope our fans are ready for a fight. Backs to the wall time, and hopefully make a go of it next season.

We knew the situation. If we went up, he would stay, if not then he'd probably go. Our financial situation wouldn't allow him another season with us in the championship. He's been top notch on, and off the field for us.

That statement is basically saying “we are screwed and we need to sell anyone we can” oh it’s glorious :bg:

Don't particularly want them to, but I can see Villa diving into League 1 before they get a manager who can work with a home-grown squad. Can see Jackett, Harris or Parkinson in charge in 15 months' time.

Reports suggesting Xia is open to offers for someone to buy the club. It could be rumours, but it's not a good sign if true.
