Proof, if it were needed, that Northampton can get salty about anything. Given that we play two games by March 12, how do you think we'll fare in making up those 11 points?

Sorry Tinpot, having reread your earlier post I now realise that the second line was aimed at your good selves and not us, a bottle of wine on a school night does me no favours :ffs:

Don't forget our impending points deduction.

Too little too late for Luton. Even we're above you, and we've got 2 games in hand, and perhaps most importantly we're fucking shit.

A lot of us are just looking for an overall improvement in football and attitude and something to really get behind for next season. Our current form is a bonus that very likely will just be a prelim for next season in this League having missed the Play Offs. Fans can dream though, even if unrealistic or unlikely.

We're still in it with game(s) in hand, but our form has to improve.

Northampton need booted out of this thread and into their own Champions thread.

I genuinely don't know how we've still got a chance of getting into the playoffs, we've not been good enough for months - 3 wins in 11. 3pts behind 7th with games in hand on those above us.

I think we'll get beat at Dagenham midweek, and almost certainly get nothing from our trip to Exeter next Saturday.

Everyone is beating everyone (except the bottom 5 or 6). Plenty more twists and turns to come.

I would worry for the stability in L1 of whoever gets promoted via the playoffs given how shit and inconsistent the contenders seem to be.

I realise I'm viewing this through my own jaundiced lens whereby we literally couldn't afford L1 quality players if we went up, whereas other sides could, but still.

I'd back Northampton and Oxford to do well in L1 already, Plymouth would need a few additions. It's mad how Burton will be in the Championship next season barring a complete meltdown.

Momentum is a funny thing. Will wager that they will be back in League 2 before the end of the decade.

Happy to add Orient to the list of "it's inexplicable how we're still in the promotion race - we're utter shit" teams. 45 minutes camped in and around Luton's box and we managed one shot. Dire.

Down to 14th can still make playoffs. Personally feel we may just miss out. If we can keep majority of squad and make 4 or 5 improvements then who knows next season.

It went back to the John Still school of defending yesterday. And Jones admitted after the match that it wasn't the way he wanted to play. I thought the longer it went on, the more likely Orient were to score. But they didn't really get close.

Luton will be very confident now, was wondering what was gonna happen when they played some better teams.

Huge jump between the two divisions. I'd fancy Oxford definitely to be comfortably mid table - in terms of ability, I'd say they've been the standout team this season (I know the table doesn't say that) and they would be the best equipped. Northampton, in my opinion, seem more styled for League 2 than League 1 and would need a few additions.

I'd genuinely written this season off. And I can be (overly) optimistic on this forum!

We've got struggling Crawley next weekend and then Plymouth away the following, which I'm looking at heading to. 5 hours+ on a coach, 4 hours and £70+ on a train or a flight from Gatwick to Newquay with a replacement bus service for 2 hours and a hotel. If we can get 3-4 points from those 2 games, we'll be right in it still with 9 games left.

Maybe. Though we have only lost away 2 times this season. Once against Luzon when we played with ten men after a red card early and a one nil at Oxford when we should have nicked a point. This suggests beating us is not that easy.

We've fucked it. 3 points from Dagenham and Yeovil at home and Newport away is wank. Our home form has been average at best all season. Still not beat a top half side and I can't see it happening in the next 4. Rovers and Wycombe away and Pompey and Northampton at home. Need to get 6/7 from Rovers, Wycombe and Pompey to have any chance IMO. We aren't good enough though and after yesterday I think Murray knows it.

Huge jump between the two divisions.

Myth. Despite a properly shit selection of promotion candidates last season, the only ones who have struggled are Shrewsbury, which seems to have as much to do with running out of cash as anything.

Northampton, in my opinion, seem more styled for League 2 than League 1 and would need a few additions.

Like Burton?

Any team that pisses League Two like the Cobblers are doing will do just fine in the league above.

We've struggled at home for the last 16 years (No exaggeration - look at our records!) and most teams this season have come to our place and played 11 men behind the ball and more recently, marked Simpson out of the game with up to three players!

We have to learn how to break teams down, we've lost 3 home games under Nolan and in general don't get going at home.

Away from home when the game is more open, we create more chances and have been more enjoyable to watch since Nolan came in for me.

We're still beckoned for a 9th-14th finish, we're far far too inconsistent and we have a rookie Player-manager who is annoyingly not dropping himself.

Even if we scrapped 7th place, we'd end up losing away at Accrington on a Thursday night in the 2nd leg, as a few of our players for me are not ready for a playoff scrap.

We're not going down and even though it will be a faliure for our squad, owner and both managers we've had this season, I'm not bothered about the playoffs because we wouldn't win them and it would cost extra money and time which personally at the moment I don't need. I'd rather go up automatically, but thats not happening.

Sound proper bitter. Either way I didn't say it was easy (although we do our best to show otherwise) - Bristol R are a very good side.

For what it's worth, I think some people are being too nice about Oxford. I think our best bet would be to tighten up defensively if we were to go up - definitely need improvements down the flanks and a lot of supporters want a new keeper. I'd be happy with the midfield two we have as a good foundation though.

Also, never really got the fuss about getting promoted before because the league system seems pretty arbitrary and the difference between the two leagues relatively slight. But the prospect of avoiding the annual brouhaha of play off bound teams saying "the league must be terrible this year if we are in 7th" is incentive enough to try, I see that now.

Good day for us yesterday, both with our own result and others.

Huge games on Tuesday and Saturday against fellow contenders, would be happy with four points but six would be ideal at this time of the season!
