HERE IT IS, THE MOST OPTIMISTIC POST OF THE NIGHT, hopefully. maybe.
oxford win their final 2,
accy lose their final 2,
bristol rovers draw their final 2,
plymouth win 1 and draw 1,
pompey win their last 2... Autos for Pompey. Get your money out now.

In all seriousness though, id most like Plymouth in the play offs, and rovers in the final. Only reason being that plymouth will give us the most away tickets of the 3, and id like to put to bed the nightmare of the other week against them. And playing Rovers at wembley for the sheer numbers

I think there's something funny about the way revenues are divided between teams in the playoffs which make the amount of tickets you sell home/away not really beneficial, I only remember because we pretty much sold out when we got embarassed by Wycombe last year and didn't even get much income from it to sweeten the pill

oh not even to do with the income, just a higher chance of getting tickets for myself is what i meant. much easier to nab one of a couple of thousand than say 900 at wimbledon

We have a difficult game on Saturday, then again none of the teams around us have particularly easy ones. Its almost like a shootout now!

Certainly have to approach the game better than we did against Stevenage.

Decent result that tonight. Wimbledon have finally lost a game, which is good news for us as I fancy to finish 4th if we don't make 3rd

I think it is beyond doubt that the highest Wembley attendance for the final would be us vs you though.

I don't think any combination of teams would provide an 85,000+ sell out really. I think a combo of us, Rovers or Portsmouth would reach 75-80k

Really hoping Rovers come up, although I HATE their number 9, Harrison - Horrible player, somehow got away with punching our keeper right in the face, and also ran over to celebrate an equaliser with....our fans, not his own.

Fucking Plymouth being a waste of a play off spot for the second season in a row, why do you start seasons so well and then finish them so crap? I remember back in December people were saying you'd win the league, fucking idiots don't know anything about football do they?

Kind of hope somehow that Portsmouth can still make Autos on the final day of the season, will give the game a bit of extra spice!

I remember years ago we had Grimsby away on the final day of the season, we were already promoted and they needed to win to make the play offs or get promoted (can't remember which one it was) - They were 1-0 up in injury time and the ref blew his whistle for a corner but Grimsby fans thought it was the final whistle and some invaded the pitch - the club also let off celebration balloons...when order was restored, we took the corner and duly equalised - great fun for us celebrating as their balloons went off into the distance.

Pretty sure Pompey would sell theirs out no problem. If we were playing you or Pompey we'd also sell out I reckon. If we had Wimbledon, for example though, we'd take about 38/40k I'm guessing.

I'm guessing Plymouth would take a shed load, superb away support. Genuine question though, do you have the 'floating' support to take 40k?

We took 35,000 on our last trip to Wembley in 1996 to face Darlington think we might get more then that now though so probably close to 40,000

Yeah this, if it was vs either Rovers or Pompey I'd imagine we'd hit the 40k. Also if it's vs Pompey chuck in couple thousand Southampton fans in their opponents end no doubt

Im guessing at head to head results between those teams. Think we lost to Pompey and Plymouth early doors.

Ah right. Amazing that since we lost to Pompey in December we've not lost again. Can't get my head around it!

Grimsby needed to win to get the final automatic promotion spot but Leyton Orient grabbed it that day at Oxford Utd, who were relegated. The relegation battle to avoid 2nd bottom was pretty mad that season, on the final day there were 6 (I believe) clubs still involved.

Saints are welcome in with us if there are spaces, we gave em Lambert who almost single-handedly took them to the Premiership so the least they can do is cheer us to L1.

What am I talking about we are going up automatically :2thumb:
