What do we think of Lowe? Is he the man to keep us in League 2 next season? Given the fact we probably only won 10 or so games since Sep 2016 I can't see any other goal for next season. It really is going to take something to shift this losing mentality.

But that's where you're wrong, and what I don't understand.

He CAN do all of those things, and did them with aplomb for us, so why is he not doing them for you? The bloke has got more ability than most in this league, and when he was with us was able to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and almost win it singlehandedly. His set pieces alone are some of the best I've ever seen (and I've seen us in the top league and seen us win what's now the Championship).

Seems to me it may be a man management thing from Clarke/Lowe and whoever else you've had managing you this season. I think the truth is that he never really wanted to leave us, other than to be closer to home, but Appleton going and then the imbecile that replaced him left Maguire with a difficult decision that he probably never wanted to make, and that all parties now regret.

Having said all of that, I'm amazed that he doesn't even get in your team and doesn't seem to have been a regular all season. What a waste.

Strangely I am looking forward to next season. I think if the youth are brought through and we make some good honest signings rather than big headed mercenaries then it might just be a bit more enjoyable coming to Gigg Lane again.
I think and hope that our complete joke of a chairman and his stupid, delusional dreams are now dead in the water and he just aims at running us like a normal football club now. No more embarrassing PR, no more talk of Bury 'belonging' in the championship and we should risk our future to get there all because he is 'driven.'
Let us do what we have been harping on about. Get the young lads through, give them a pre season amongst a small selection of remaining first team player, let Lowey and Schuey drill their mentality in them and I think we will be okay next season. And by okay I mean avoiding a Chesterfield.

By Clark, by Lucketti and until very recently by Lowe? Things have certainly improved with him in the team.

Presumably the likes of Cameron and Jones will leave due to their injury problems which is a shame given their commitment to the club over a long period of time. O'Connell is in the same boat. The fact is that no club can afford to carry players with their history of injuries. Zeli is also expected to be on his way to Walsall and Tutte will probably leave looking for first team football.

We could be left with a base squad looking something like:

Leigh
Skarz

Danns (age and money may be an issue)

A decent summary here.
I would wager Dawson will remain. We can only hope that a proper pre season behind him will get him fully fit. I'd give O'Shea a pre season as well.
I think that our first choice goalkeeper will be a new signing plus Murphy.

In defence it will be Cooney plus a new rb. Cbs Thompson and O'Connell and Shotton. Cameron I wager we will keep as well.
Lb Leigh and Skarz.

Lm. Adams, Mayor and probably lumbered with Bunn.
Cm. Dai, Styles, Dawson, Burgess and Danns.
Rm. O'Shea deserves a chance IMO. Adams can play on either side.

I doubt Lowe had anything to do with the signings, everyone knows Clark's record in the market is embarrassing. And Day has an awful record for just giving into incompetent manager's demands where signing players is concerned. There are questions over Lowe don't get me wrong, but as our chairman is a total joke, he won't go for a recognised face like Alexander and instead choose to headhunt some novice who has links to Huddersfield Town, we may end up seeing Micky Wadsworth or Lou Macari appointed or someone else who the idiot declares he has personally headhunted before promoting and offering endless praise to himself for it.

For this reason I think we are best settling for Lowe for now.

That squad above is entirely made up of guesswork so I don't know if it is those who will stay. Imo though, that above has the makings of a decent team if certain players can be relied upon to be more fit etc. It has a decent blend of youth and experience and there are a couple of other highly rated young lads who are not on the list.
For me what must not happen is another 20 first team players signed with all expecting to play whilst Day declares we will win league two by March with a hundred points before a ball has been kicked.

We should be going for players who are young and hungry, lads released by United, City etc, not a 35 year old player who won the golden boot ten years ago.

If Day can't learn his lesson from this season we may as well give up now.

From what the Oxford fans have said about Maguire, I can also say about Ajose and, especially, Ince. He was absolute class as a defensive midfielder on loan for us last season - in a dreadful side.

Ajose has had a bad attitude all season since a supposed altercation with Lowe in training after he was told he was performing shite - which he was. The same reason Charlton allowed him to leave on loan. I believe he sorted himself a bit after we got rid of him in Jan with Karl before he moved on and is now in and around the first team.

Ince is an odd one. There has been at least three games where he has looked relatively useful ( that’s a plus for anyone in the team this season) for the rest he’s looked sloppy and disinterested.

There’s definitely something gone on with the players and coaching staff, probably when Lee Clark and his team were here. We just don’t know what.

Having a 30+ man squad with lack of depth in one area and being top heavy in another and a manager that was clueless tactically and just deluded was always a recipie for disaster.

We could be here all century listing the bad things that happened this season and listing the reasons why. For me the foundations were laid in August with Clark's ridiculous transfer policy, awful management of his players, his turgid, negative football. And a joke of a chairman just sitting back and allowing it to happen before providing a further 10-12 games for the damage to set in and stain itself on the club.

I pity Carlisle fans if they are to end up with this parasite as manager next season.
