Stevenage will go up if they play how they did today for the rest of the season. Easily the best team we've played against all year.

The two most creative sides I have seen at the theatre of greens this year have been Stevenage and Exeter.

No way we're making top 7.

We've been in relegation form for the past 12 matches and if anything we only look like getting worse. I can't see our form changing at all.

Now we're not even scoring goals which is the one thing you couldn't criticise us off, but 3 blanks in a row coupled with the fact we cannot ever keep a clean sheet is a recipe for an absolute capitulation between now and the end of the season.

Carlisle United will NOT finish in the top 7.

I suspect many more Carlisle fans will be starting to agree with this.

We're still 3rd you c***.

Pompey's result went our way again, so when will you stop throwing your toys out of the pram? Teams go on bad runs and still manage to get promoted, if we had dropped out the top 3 then I suppose you could have a point but the fact is we are still 3rd and that's an automatic promotion spot by the way!

You've just got to be more positive and have some patience.

I'll tell you why we won't make top 7, and why I'm not positive... because this year we've played 12 games and we've mustered 12 points. That's 1 point per game.

See if we did that for a season, do you know what would happen? We'd in all likelihood go down. Fortunately for us we had a great first half of the season so we don't need to worry about that.

Now we have 11 games left. If we get 11 points we won't end up anywhere near the top 7. Can you honestly see us improving? I think if anything we're getting worse. We're not even scoring goals now which is even more worrying.

Yes I can see us improving when whiny armchair fans like you start getting behind the club and actually buy tickets to go to games.

Armchair fans like me? Are you fucking kidding me?

I go to every home game and probably 60% of away games. I bet I attend a fuck load more games than you you whore.

If your players bicker like you two, you have no chance of top seven.

Looking from the outside your form suggests that HG is right that top three is something you need to forget about. However, you did put the ball in the back of the net three times. Our penalty was one of those some give it and some don't. As a result the officials made four decisions that materially game. You also thought that you had a penalty shout (I think the ref got it right by the way). So in terms of the game this could or could not have been a different result.

If we assume that how you played today is how you play for most of your remaining games, I think you have a problem. You lack grit. There are some individually good players, such as your centre back who won a lot of ball, your keeper and Adams. However, as a team you seem to lack that togetherness and bite. You look like a team that has to score first, because they do not believe they can chase. You were great until we scored.

I know that one game is not necesarily a fair reflection, but based on yesterday I assume your target is top seven, not top three.

I'd have to agree I'm afraid, don't want to be 'that guy' but with the exception of 2/3 slightly above average players for this division I wouldn't say you were one of the better sides we've played, Portsmouth and Luton and even Exeter and Stevenage all seemed to have a bit more about them. Soz about that.

I think this thread proves that 4 promotion places is too many.

What's gone in the past has gone. Carlisle are in third with 11 games to go, so any terminal predictions are very much premature. If you get to 81 points, you get promoted. Just a bit of luck and an improvement in form and you can get there. Some fans make judgements way to quickly these days.

No you don't because you're on here having a moan about us during every match we play I've noticed.

I'm not bickering, it's him who is always complaining about everything even when we were doing very well early on in the season he still wasn't happy and said we were rubbish and would finish outside the top seven. Unless we're Barcelona then I don't think he'll ever be satisfied.

As for yesterday I think you obviously had all the luck thanks to shite refereeing so well done.

I don't think he goes either, he's been having us all on.

HG is a fraud.

It's not about being positive/negative on our chances, it's about being realistic.

At the moment the REALITY is that we are not good enough to maintain our position or even top 7. That's a fact.

Obviously we may improve all of a sudden, but there's been no signs of that for the last 12 games hence our pitiful points return. We have 11 games left, the form has to turn very quickly if we have any chance, but worryingly we seem to be getting worse if anything.

Obviously I'll hope and prey that a miracle happens and we turn the corner but I genuinely don't believe it will happen. There just nothing there to suggest it will.

We are 3rd in the league so that means we are BETTER than all of the 21 teams below us, the table does not lie!

That's reality.

So if/when, for arguments sake, Carlisle do drop out of the top 3 or even out of the playoffs altogether, would you also admit at that point that 'the table does not lie', and it isn't merely a result of luck, or divine intervention etc

Umm... Carlisle in 3rd place have played 35 games and have 58 points = 1.65 points per game.
Luton in 4th place have played 34 games and have 57 points = 1.67 points per game.

So on that basis I would have the current league table in the Jeffrey Archer level of lying its fucking tits off.

3 points for Pompey on Tuesday and Carver will shut up about this better than 21 sides idea.

As an neutral, I have to say HG is right. I've just looked* at Carlisle's results since the new year, and while I won't go as far as him and say that it's relegation form, it's definitely not promotion form either.

*I mean a proper look - quality of the opposition, what form were they in, etc etc.

There's no way Carver would've been able to create an imaginative and punny name like MysteriousCurle. It can't be him, surely?

His second account will be PUNCHFACESMASH or FUCKINGBALLCUNTS. Or something of that ilk anyway. The name reflects the man, after all.

12 points from 12 games. 1 point per game.

I appreciate that in the last couple of years 46 points would be enough to stay up, but there have been plenty of other years where it would get you relegated.

That's why i describe it as relegation form.

Are you Donald Trump? You certainly have more points than 21 teams that is indisputable, though two might have more points than you once they have played their game in hand. But the evidence does not back up that you are better, certainly your form in 2017 is not better than 21. Of the games I have seen since, say since Boxing Day oneards I would say Wycombe, Stevenage and Exeter played better than you.

I would like you to go up, I appreciate what your team has done, but you are not on form the third best, third highest on points, but not the third best. Anyhoo, I wish you well and would like to see yourselves and Exeter get promoted behind us and Donnie.

Carlisle are struggling no doubt and clinging onto that 3rd spot but I expect either us or Luton to replace them by this time next week.

Am I the only person here who has a brain?

Carlisle have been in the top 3 for most of the season and you lot are still saying we're not good enough? Fuck off.

Well use it then!

It's very tight in the top 7. Only a few points between 3rd and 7th.
There are 11 games remaining (12 for some teams).
Our form over the previous 12 games has seen us pick up a pathetic 12 points where as in the same period teams below us have been in much better form than us.
If you were looking at things without your blue tinted glasses on, who would you think is more likely to pick up more points in the next 12 games? Teams in form with confidence and momentum, or a team who've been playing like they are in a relegation scrap for the past 2 months?
