Not surprised at the outcome but I did have genuine hope that we had got beyond the old fashioned collapses of the 90's. Still lots of work to do both on and off the pitch me thinks

I do think a small part of this has been their ridiculous schedule at the end of 2016. Still the first time this tour we've embarrassed ourselves - shameful stuff from the middle order.

Cook needs to resign too. He clearly doesn't want to do it anymore.

He might still want to do when he next plays a test in 6 months time though. If he's still willing and able, I'm not sure I'd want to burden Root with the captaincy just yet.

Some hard questions need to be asked of Strauss and Bayliss after this shambles of a tour.

My main issue is with the selectors, they've done mostly fine until the last couple of years but their decisions are getting odder and odder. If I was Strauss, I'd be tempted to sack the lot of them.

The selectors and the team behind the scenes of the England national team just sounds like one big snobby boys club to me

I'm not sure that's as true as it once was. Strauss has shaken quite a lot up in a relatively short space of time and clearly there's a lot of friction between him and Bayliss on one side and the selectors on the other.

Care to explain what exactly?

You can see that in some of the selections. I'm looking at Ballance, Ansari, Batty. I'm obviously not itk but I imagine some of those selections didn't go well with Bayliss. It's not healthy and I expect a shake up amongst the selectors.

Of the top of my head... he's sacked Moores, radically changed the way we look at ODIs and changed the central contracts to reflect this, the format of domestic cricket - both the championship and one day stuff - changes again next season, he's desperate to bring in franchise T20 and I'm sure that will happen soon. I think the only reason he didn't get rid of Whittaker last summer was that he'd already changed too much. It's not all gone well, but don't forget that in the 18 months since he took over, England have got good at ODIs, won the Ashes, reached the final of the world T20 and won in South Africa.

As A-berg says, it's well known that Strauss and Bayliss fell out with the selectors when the selectors listened to the doctors and wouldn't let them have Anderson last summer when he was coming back from injury. The selectors keep giving him Ballance, who Bayliss doesn't want. God knows what he made of the spinners he was forced to work with this winter.

Wow Tom Abell named Somerset captain, 22 years old and has played 45 games for Somerset over the three formats

Just watched Warner smash a 100 before lunch from 78 balls at the SCG. Brilliant knock, he's got to be the best opener in the world, and it's not like Pakistan bowled badly either.

Wow that's sensational batting and yes I agree he's without a doubt the best opener.

India to chase 351 then, good total by England. India lost their heads for the past 7 or so overs.

solid start, think the game rests on this Dhoni/Kohli partnership

Great early wickets, but I'd feel more confident if we had 1 and that was Kohli than 4 with him still in there

just don't have a plan for Kohli, I get that he's well-rounded and it's difficult to bowl to him but you have to try something different.

Despite the best efforts of Morgan think we are going to fall just short.

Always a tough ask losing wickets at key moments.

Not pinning the loss on Morgan after his knock but the way he went about breaking up that Yuvraj/Dhoni partnership was bordering on ridiculous - especially the use of Woakes.

Great knock though. Nothing wrong with this side's batting performances - best in the world.

Great to see Morgan back approaching his best. Been a bit of a weak link in the batting lineup for a while now but when he's on it he's as good as anyone

Our ODI batting line up is imo up there with best in cricket history. When players like bairstow and Billings can't get in the side it's frightening. And yes good to see him playing well however him and hales would never be seen in an England shirt again if I was in charge.

Morgan seems to be making up for lost time - knowing his place is under threat I guess after missing the Bangladesh tour.

I know we won convincingly but anyone know why Rashid didn't bowl when 2 seamers went at 8 an over + in their 4 overs
