Watched this for the first time and was totally underwhelmed, daft in places and the plot was a mess but the action scenes weren't bad. 6/10.

I finally got around to seeing Batman vs Superman the other day.

Yeah, ok, so it's really not that great is it. I think, to be fair, my expectations were so low going in that it was still better than expected. But yeah... not sure I'll ever sit through it again. Still though, I'd say it was actually a lot better than Man of Steel.

I watched the ultimate edition, which may mean that it was a bit better than the movie others experienced as it apparently fills in quite a few holes... but on the other hand, it meant that it was a real fucking slog of a movie that seemed to go on for about an hour too long. About 2 hours of build up to an admittedly pretty bad ass final hour. Though saying that, for a movie called "Batman vs Superman"... they didn't really fight each other all that much, did they?

But yeah, Batman was very cool in it, and I was pleased with how Wonder Woman turned out as well. And I've always been a fan of the casting of Henry Cavill as Superman as I think he does a good job in the role.

So... eh. A bit better than expected, but I didn't expect a lot. I'll probably still go and watch the likes of Wonder Woman and the Justice League movie.

It was supposed to be a scary horror film starring Ethan Hawke but it was bloody awful. 4/10.

Thought it was ace, the ending was a bit naff but I really enjoyed it.
If it wasn't for the missus i wouldn't have got that far mate, when she has a glass of wine in her hand i tend to agree with her as she gets a bit feisty when she's pissed, she liked it and even screamed a couple of times

High praise indeed

The sad thing is though, there are actually people who would disagree with that.

People just need to accept that Man of Steel is a pile of shit and move on.

Young Frankenstein (1994)
A classic film with Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman who stole the show as Igor and had me laughing throughout the film. 9/10.

Zootropolis.

Berluddy brilliant and has some good observations on racism and the current terrorist 'threat'. It seems almost like Trump saw the film as a bit of an instruction manual, too. My five year old loved it enough that we saw it three times in three days, but there's enough for adults for that not to have got THAT old yet. Certainly plenty of laughs at the various pop culture references the first (and second, and third) time around.

Ghostbusters

It was alright. Just alright. Not awful, not brilliant. Alright. Some good laughs in the first half, but the endgame isn't as engaging as the first (or even the second, really). And partly this is down to what I was worried about, as the original cast cameos crop up and drag you out of the film. They feel not only more forced than the ubiquitous Stan Lee in every Marvel flick, but more invasive. It wasn't the film that the 11 year old me was waiting for since 1990.

Star Wars: Force Awakens and, incredibly, the remake of National Lampoon's Vacation showed how it could have been done. Both were essentially remakes/reboots but with original cast in original roles, as cameos. I just think it would have ticked the right boxes. The plot could have been identical, just slightly different front end.

Welp. Suicide Squad.

It wasn't terrible. Not even close for me, it just wasn't good. It's too weird, little things like the amount of fucking music in it (the official soundtrack must have 50 tracks on it) makes you wonder how hard someone tried to make this film good knowing that it was very bad, but ultimately it needed another 12 months for them to get their shit together and write a tighter plot and get the characters in-sync. The cast was good imo, Robbie and Smith nailed their parts (I'll accept some of the criticisms out there of Harley being a bit like a porn parody character but I thought it was over the top in a good way in that respect) - Leto was shit, a man consumed by his own ego trying to out-Ledger the part. The main issue is just how half-arsed the story is, it was essentially the laziest way to get all those characters they wanted on screen and I did not care for it one bit.

Bad Blood. A film about hillbilly gangsters. Now, I should like this film. I have great affection for films about The South, meth, gangsters and a great respect/ love for Sean Bean but this was fucking awful. I mean, I'm it's target audience but no, it's shit. Some old bollocks about chess involved too.
2/10 and the 2 is just for the soundtrack and having Sean Bean in it.

Side Effects (2013)

About a woman - who's husband has just been released from prison for insider training - going through depression and is prescribed drugs that
have side effects.

It's well paced and I liked the twist. A very solid 7/10

80's Brat Pack film about a group of twenty-somethings and their troubles in becoming adults after their college days.

Not gonna lie, the film is terrible. The plot is wafer-thin to non-existent, the acting is poor and the characters are mostly arseholes. The directing is also erratic as the film jumps around all over the place with little cohesion.

A very generous 3/10, mainly for the John Parr song.

Agree, story was absolute garbage. Robbie was absolutely brilliant, loved her sponteneity of randomness. I saw it in Imax 3D and was quite impressed with that aspect. Wasn't the best film but definitely not the worst.

You know the evil weapon she was building, all I could think of was how much it looked like a Pokestop...

Regression.

Ethan Hawke plays a detective investigating the claims of Emma Watson who says her father abused her.

Pretty bloody awful film with little going for it.

2/10

Haven't seen it but there's even a body double in there for a certain scene with Watson so not interested :D

I don't know about that. The opening 45 minutes were embarrassing; they made me squirm. Me and my mate tried to figure out who the target audience for the film was and the closest we got was early-teen Juggalo.

I liked Margot Robbie, though, I think. Will Smith was also more understated than he usually is.

We also saw the new Bourne film, which felt like a boring Jason Statham film.
