Are Hartlepool not a big club then?

Their crowds seem pretty decent.

Similar to ours I think, albeit in a league with bigger away followings.

Both them and Orient should boost the league average.

And if your really, really lucky I might even be on there next season.

More likely you'll have joys of Reremnart, but still.

Come on, go easy on him. Play off nerves can do funny things to people, particularly us tranmere fans who last saw a promotion when the telephone had just been invented.

In the least patronising way possible, I think the Aldershot fans and players can be pretty proud today. Would have been easy to fold after going down 4-0 on aggregate but it turned out that they were only a Scott Davies wondersave away from making the last 15 mins extremely tense for us.

On the balance of both legs though, we were the better team and deservedly go to Wembley.

Its not really patronising, think thats how a lot of us feel. We lost the tie on Wednesday but despite that we kept fighting and gave you a game today. Over the two legs you deserved to win, but think 5-2 was a little harsh on us.

Shame a few idiots went onto the pitch when Norwood scored, but to be fair they were probably bandwagon jumpers that I doubt had been to another Tranmere game this season.

Looking ahead to next season, there were two positives:

1) on the whole we matched Tranmere today, and proved that Wednesday was just a blip

2) we did it without Benyu, which is important considering he isnt going to be with us next season.

Good luck to Tranmere in the final, but can you please get promoted so you are out of the way for our promotion push next year. Thanks

Thank fuck for that Scott Davies save with about 20 minutes to go! It was nervy enough with a two goal cushion so not sure how I'd have coped if it went in!

A pretty even game and Aldershot redeemed themselves after a couple of mistakes cost them on Wednesday. Credit to the Aldershot support, not sure I'd have been tempted to make such a long drive at 3-0 down. Pretty noisy as well for the majority of the game. The future definitely looks bright if you can keep hold of that squad.

Looks as though James Wallace has picked up another serious injury. Glad this season's coming to a close, as we're running out of players

By the way, how is Mensah still down here? He's seems a class above.

So you think Tranmere would thrash us or Daggers then?

Interesting.
Maybe not thrash because pressure can do strange things to people, but in the 2nd half of the season the best 3 sides points wise have been Lincoln Tranmere and Aldershot by a long way. Tranmere just disposed of Aldershot very professionally, if the final follows the form guide there's no doubt who's going up.

Really fucking gutted with how the first leg turned out. I feel Kellermann's mistake in the opening 2 minutes set the tone and completely rocked us... then to have another mistake for 2-0 was devastating. Think it would have been closer as our performance in the 2nd leg showed.

Getting into the play-offs was an over-achievement and shows how far we've come from the last few seasons of dross. Most enjoyable season in a long long time. Waddock & Rowe have the foundations in place to kick on from this so we will have to see next season.

You'll be there next season, I think you were in the same boat as us when we first made the play offs, we weren't ready for it at the time and Bristol rovers rightly beat us convincingly! You have a great manager, good squad full of a lot of potential! Add some more experience and you'll be there again next season chin up!

I was really worried we would lose him to a league club this summer, and was elated when I found out he signed for next season. I voted Reynolds player of the season but the way he finished had the vote been now I may have changed my decision. He could be key to us potentially fighting for playoffs/promotion next season.

Was it a mistake? Or was it excellent Tranmere pressing? Nearly happened in the opening 2 mins of today with Maynard dispossessing your right back in the penalty box.

Aldershot clearly have raw talent, but not street wise enough yet. I'd imagine they'll be a step better next season.

As for us a win at Wembley would be a real springboard for our club with our new training facility we'll be able to reinvigorate the academy that brought through so much talent between 1990-2010.

I think next year could be a very competitive year. I hope we don't have to worry about it, tbh!

Thing is we'll be stronger too. No Brabin handicap, Tollitt for a full season and a few marquee signings lined up.

I would say a bit of both, in the 2nd minute of the first leg of a playoff semi final Kellerman has to be clearing that out of play, but at the same time your player read it really well to intercept and catch us out. Its one of those things I put down to experience, your players had a bit more experience and nous and over the 2 games I think that was the difference. In terms of technical ability I feel we were a match and Mensah scored the goal of the tie today.

Shotsweb is hilariously bitter and twisted. Fortunately, I met some really decent Shots fans today to balance things out, and they did themselves proud in the stands too. Hope you all got home safely.

Utter drivel on there, definitely not as classy as their manager. Listened to all his interviews for playoffs and he sounds a classy guy.

Did Tranmere break the attendance record?
Seemed to be a few empty seats but I'm not sure how many PP holds.

It has got appalling on there in the last year, used to be some really good posters but the knobs who have signed up recently have all but driven them away. Spent at least an hour after the game in the tent and pub and lost count of the Tranmere fans who shook my hand and wished us well, I know it's easy to be magnanimous when you've won, but they all seemed really genuine, a properly good bunch.

I was so proud of our lads yesterday, it would have been easy to just go through the motions, but as always they didn't want to let the travelling fans down. Whilst I'm disappointed for how the last week has turned out, I'm so optimistic for next season now.

As last word for the Tranmere fans, I spoke to all our lads after the game and they really appreciated the applause they got when they left the pitch, classy from Tranmere. And nice of the Tranmere players to acknowledge the hundreds of Shots who stayed behind to clap them, shows they understand the standards a big club require from their players. Good luck at Wembley, get back to where you belong.

No. 10,300 ish.

Highest of this season but a bit short. A lot of plastics didn't turn up when they discovered they didn't need to, to get Wembley tickets.

So glad to have finally won a Play-off semi-final for the first time since 1991. First trip to Wembley for 17 years too!
Aldershot have a lot of technically gifted players but maybe just a little young and a little lightweight down the spine of the team. They've got a cracking manager and with a couple of signings they'll be a force next season.
Don't care who we play in the final, I just hope we can give a performance. If we lose to the better team, fair enough.

Likewise, it was really nice to see the number of Shots fans who stayed back to applaud us off. I'm glad the players acknowledged it and applauded back.

Anyway, on to today's match. Here's hoping for a gruelling, bruising, demoralising encounter with a few red cards and extra time for good measure :2thumb:

Same, but with FGR to win...however that's in with the the same for Liverpool over Southampton which doesn't look likely now.

Is there usually no sponsorship boards infront of the stand the camera is pointing at at The New Lawn? I've never noticed before, probably because it usually doesn't have that many people in it, but it looks well tinpot.

It does look odd with the fans basically sat on the pitch edge, a bit like a school fete. The game itself is marginally more interesting than the first leg. Really don't care who wins though so my interest might wane!
