Yeah the damage has already been done by the clown but I was a bit concerned that we would end up heading for League One with him next season.

He should have been sacked after we lost at home to Burnley. It was clear as day he wasn't up to the job.

Players aren't blameless though, some of their attitudes have been an absolute disgrace.

After a quick fire manger boost no doubt but how often has it work?

Noticed Saints and Stoke both have Swansea and West Ham away for example so still in their hands a bit.

Ah, disappointed to hear that! A new manager boost could save you now. Any early rumours? Either someone was lined up or they've just panicked.

We want Premier League experience so I guess the only stand out is Mark Hughes.

Bit late in the day that.

A job on the south coast near where he lives would be right up his alley. I don't think his heart was ever in the Birmingham job, I'd say Southampton could be different if given the chance. He'd keep them up I reckon. And that is all they're bothered about short term.

Southampton in talks with Hughes apparently. The managerial merry go round continues.

Why Hughes? Someone explain the sense in this?

Eddie Howe has been backed it seems - surely most unlikely to happen!

Look at Puel’s and Pellegrino’s appointments. Cheap and out of work are the requirements for the Southampton managerial position.

My ideal realistic appointment would be the Fulham boss, but the last time we took another manager from a club was Nigel Adkins.

Why are you comparing Puel with Pellegrino? You would have been midtable all season with Puel in charge. I know he's boring but he gets points on the table. Pellegrino is, well I'm sure he's done something right in his career otherwise Southampton wouldn't have enrolled him. Surely the board can't be that stupid?

About the Hughes comments I don't see the harm in that. Hughes did a solid job at Stoke for a few years. He got the boot when he lost the dressing room. Shimples.

Nah, we would be very much in the relegation battle with Puel, probably a few points better off but still in the battle. Our shite home record didn't start under Pellegrino, it started with Puel.

Yeah Adkins was a disaster too. What did he ever do for you?

Oh..

Nigel Adkins is second to only Rickie Lambert in my personal hero status?

Hughes appointed until the end of the season.

Probably the best we could get in the situation we're in. I suspect he'll earn a big bonus if he keeps us up.

:ffs: It's the stress of this relegation battle. We haven't had a relegation since 2003, not used to this!

Hughes doesn't seem like the kind of manager that will motivate a team and bring them together, but not sure what else they could've done tbf. The whole club does seem to have taken a big step backwards this season after years of progression.

I wouldn't say it's just this season we took a big step backwards. Last season was the beginning. I know we got 8th and a cup final but we ended up finishing like 20 points behind our 2015/16 total and were absolutely abysmal at home.

That summer we replaced Koeman, Mane, Pelle and Wanyama with cheap options despite being in the Europa League. The club was the most attractive it's ever been, we needed to show ambition but instead we signed shite like Nathan Redmond and appointed Puel.

This could be good news for Stoke as Hughes might re-sign some of the donkeys he`s laden them with if he is still there after the end of the season.

Stoke might now feel extra motivated to help relegate their old boss.
Hughes might be able to motivate his new club to help relegate his old club.
Or of course both could drop together!

That West Ham game is obviously huge. I don't think Saints have actually been in the relegation zone all season? With the Cup this weekend, depending on results (Huddersfield/Palace and Stoke/Everton) Saints could drop in all be it with the game in hand. I've always thought that makes a physiological difference, actually being below the red line.

We were 19th prior to the West Brom win I think.

I wonder where we would be if we failed to win that game as word on the street was only a win would save the clown from the sack.

Our game against Southampton is so huge. Thing is, with a new manager coming in the team usually step up their performance. Already so nervous for that game and its still two weeks off. We have two-on paper- winnable home games coming up- Southampton and Stoke. If we get less than 4 points in those we could be gone as we've still got to play Chelsea, Arsenal, City and United.
