Not sacked, but something that could lead to him being sacked. Although it’s Burton and their owner loves Clough.

Clough was asked tonight about their fans calling for his head, and his response was that he wished he’d joined Forest when they came asking.

He's gone early then.

Bit of a gamble. Whilst the entertainment value was low with McCarthy we were never going to be in a true relegation battle with him... if we get this next appointment wrong, that could be our reality next season. Equally as likely that we push on, with perhaps a slight change in strategy from Evans - but we've just got rid of stabilty/stagnation - whatever you want to call it.

I think it's the right decision for what it's worth. Just very aware this could go either way. I'll be making the fortnightly travels to Portman Road next season with a season ticket providing I'm not underwhelmed with the choice of new manager.

It could either way. But frankly I don’t think most Town fans care. His football was atrocious, he loved a dig at the fans and basically made it Mick FC.

Don’t get me wrong he’s a good manager and the squad is always together but he just uses the team so poorly! We have a decent team, probably mid table but we could do the same but playing much better football! Rather than being told we are the worst team others have played, week in week out!

He put that team together on a shoe string, I'd love to see his net spend figure at Ipswich given you sold Murphy, Mings, Cresswell etc, and spent a few hundred grand on players like Waghorn, Garner and Sears.

Think someone already mentioned it but Mick McCarthy looks like a decent manager on the outside looking in, but when he's your manager, the football is dire, he turns the fans against the club and he'll always stick to his tried and tested methods even when it's obvious that it doesn't work. I understand why Ipswich fans are so happy to see him leave.

Mick has undoubtly done well on a purely results basis given what he has had to work with under Evans' ownership but I really don't think you can begrudge the Ipswich fans for being fed up of it. It's also never going to get any better without a change. Same football and hoping that one year it falls right and sneak into the play offs. The change is high risk but it's also needed if Ipswich want to progress and maybe a little bit of progress with make Evans pay a bit more attention to the club as it seems to be suffering neglect from the top.

Obviously I'm hopeful that it all goes wrong though.

Imo you can’t say McCarthy did well out of the Cresswell sale, Paul Jewell should be given the credit on that one!
We pay a very competitive wage for the clubs without parachute payments so it’s not necessarily a shoestring! Ideally we’d have liked the owner to invest more but looking at the accounts, it isn’t as bad as people make out!
He’d been handed plenty of huge potential youth players but he just never gave them a chance, until last night when needed and they were arguably the best players

Coleman - right manager. Wrong time.
Who next ? You need someone to steady the ship. Safe pair of hands. Someone like a pulis style manager.

I'd say it was a clever move by Coleman going to Sunderland, he gets a nice big payoff and he can use the excuse that everybody fails at Sunderland.

Then some club will forget that he's a dog shit manager and give him another job at some point in the near future.

Coleman is really overrated in domestic football. He'll always live off a decent couple of years as Wales manager, he can thank Gareth Bale for that.

Rumours at QPR about Holloway. Apparently, he will be leaving the club after Leeds as he is struggling after the loss of his Mum on Thursday. Steve Mclaren will come in. He has been a guest of Les Ferdinands recently and Tony Fernandes has said a few times that at the end of the season they need to take stock and look at everything including management and make some tough choices.

If Holloway goes I would be very happy with this. When Steve was here previously, we played great football and when he left, we struggled massively.

Yeah I think Wilder will leave, he knows this is as high as his stock is likely to get, without any backing from the board he's not going to be able to get that unbelievable start out of this set of players next season that's kept them in the picture, Sunderland are a big club and can probably offer him more than hes earning currently.

He won't leave for Sunderland I don't think, personally I don't think he will leave at all he just wants the 2 chairman to sort things with each other so he knows who he's working with and what to ask for. Like he said yesterday he 100% doesn't want to leave but unless they sort it out he may have no choice.

I don’t think he’ll go but if he does then I fancy Blades to be in big danger next season. Always felt their squad has been punching above its weight due to Wilder. Not many could have a team with Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp up front in the top two at one point.

Those 2 players with 30 goals between them, highest scorer in the league from open play old Leon.

Billy sharp is a natural goal scorer, and regardless of what team he is in will always get goals at this level.

Would have Leon and Sharp over Wigan's front line any day of the week. Based on this season it must be up there with the most prolific forward lines in the Championship

Unless you've got 2 who've scored more I think it is.

We usually play with a front 3. Bonatini is on 12 but hasn't scored since the first week of December. Jota is on 17 I think, Afobe is on 6 or something. Costa and Cavaleiro are on about 7 or 8 each. Hard to say as they switch about a lot.

As I said, punching above their weight thanks to an outstanding manager. Billy Sharp scored only 21 goals in 101 Championship games before this season. Leon Clarke 35 goals in 208. He’s got over half that in one Championship season under Wilder. A top manager finds a way to polish t**ds. If he goes, Leon will return back to his usual self.
