If you have aspirations for the play offs, then Coughlin is nowhere near good enough, not even as a back up. He's got hands made of sugar glass, he's poor at judging crosses and he has the most bizarre kicking style where he spins it off the side of his boot into orbit and falls way short of the halfway line sometimes.Only a few names I recognise: Coughlin always seemed okay, but must surely be only an option as back up?
McFarlane is central coast mariners youth league player i thinkOnly a few names I recognise: Coughlin always seemed okay, but must surely be only an option as back up? Norburn is decent, but again, can't see him as first choice, Fenwick did okay for Hartlepool and I think we were linked with him in January.
I think McFarlane is a teenager from Australia, and Hamilton has been at Stockport, Holden at Gateshead, and a couple released by Cheltenham in there too.
But apart from that........Coughlin is nowhere near good enough. He's got hands made of sugar glass, he's poor at judging crosses and he has the most bizarre kicking style where he spins it off the side of his boot into orbit and falls way short of the halfway line sometimes.
..he's the best keeper in the leagueBut apart from that........
There's a couple more players I can try to shed some light on. Glenn Belezika played at right back for Buxton last year. The main thing I remember about him from last season was the brainless red card he picked up in an FA Cup game so he could have a bit of a problem with his discipline. Abou Sanogo is as far as I know still at Northwich. He's a big centre forward, decent in the air from what I can remember. He scored against us in the Cheshire Cup final a couple of years ago. Neither of them are Conference standard players.Barrow AFC: Andy Coughlin, Glenn Belezika, Darren Holden, Abu Sonogo, Julian Barton, Brad Beatson, Zack Kotwica, Oliver Norburn, Liam Molesworth, Scott Fenwick, Omari Sterling-James.
Substitutes (all used): Patrick Udoh, Tommy Raheem, Dan MacFarlane, Henoc Mukendi, Danny Uchechi, Matty Hamilton.
that's todays trialists

So basically your game yesterday was a load of random blokes up against another load of random blokes. Who the fuck would pay to watch that?
I do remember wanting Coughlin to stay to be our number two. Although I think that's possibly because he's a scouser and, for as long as I've watched Wrexham, we've done better with Liverpool accents in our team.
Mills making Sean Newton captain and bringing in Anthony Barry and John Rooney plus Rutherford from up the Wirral pleases me greatly.

Four ex Chester players there, so are you still confident?I do remember wanting Coughlin to stay to be our number two. Although I think that's possibly because he's a scouser and, for as long as I've watched Wrexham, we've done better with Liverpool accents in our team.

Nice lad Rutherford. I used to go to Total Fitness, Prenton when I worked at St Cath's and would often see him training there around the time he broke into the Chester team. Would have a chat with him in the steam room. He only left Chester because of Mad Terry.Hadn't realised he was one of ours until you mentioned it, born in Moreton.
I don't think Rovers have a single Wirral lad in the squad now, a sad state of affairs.
Rutherford was here during Vaughan's reign?Nice lad Rutherford. Thanks for that. Nothing concrete yet but I certainly wouldn't mind either of them as a cheapish punt.Akinola has 1 year left on his contract at Braintree and they rejected a 6-figure sum for him in January.
Emmanuel is out of contract. We were apparently interested and whilst it wasn't flatly denied by Cowley, he gave the impression that he wouldn't move from London because he's got a young family.
Similar players, though, from what I've read/seen.
Surely not, how could he possibly leave swampy and the football god Cooper ?Kurtis Guthrie off to Colchester for a fee. Ok player, capable of scoring double figures in L2 as he matures I reckon, though maybe not in his first year. Good in the air, gets fouled a lot and has a really hot girlfriend, which I think contributes to the fact he thinks he's too good for this level and has a bit of a stroppy teenager act.
Margetts would make sense. He's from Doncaster, played for Hull as a kid and had loan spells at Gainsborough.Rumour is we have at least one striker training with us this week, someone supposedly young and did well in this league last season for a play off chasing side. Johnny Margetts is the rumour going about on banter, though I have no idea how reliable this is, or if Margetts is any good, he seems to have had a lot of clubs in a short space of time whilst still scoring goals?

I see he's over six foot, would he be more of a target man or out a bit wider? We tend to play a bit of a 4-2-3-1, so forwards often find themselves out wide in the three if they aren't the main focal point up top.
