I cant wait to see how rubbish Rooney is as Chester fans never cease to slag him off. Hopefully he's as bad as Lincoln fans told us Newton and Nolan were. Or Torquay fans and Heslop.

For about the 20th time I can't think of many Lincoln fans who questioned the ability of Newton or even Nolan, they were/are both very good footballers. Nolan is a petulant child and his best bud Newton is a cock too, they are decent players though. Most clubs have there numpties in them to be honest.

Nobody has a bad word to say about Newton's quality. He was brilliant for us and no-one will say anything differently.

With the ball at his feet he's undoubtedly a good player. Play him anywhere in the middle though and you're struggling as he's far too lightweight. That's where he wants to play though.

I wanted him to stay but not that fussed. He's difficult to accommodate and I'm kinda glad that problem has gone.

Good bit of advice about John Rooney ......... don't let him take your penalties.

Apparently Jeff Hughes has signed for Tranmere. Good news if true as he would bring a little bit of much needed creativity to our midfield.
2 year deal. Just hope Brabin plays him in the centre of the park rather than as a makeshift winger.

Maybe not then haha - can't get in the Tranmere team but linked with a club two divisions higher - says a lot about Brabin.

Which league one club is it?
A couple of years ago there was a suggestion Sunderland were interested in Kirby. Fairly implausible and nothing came of it.
The L1 club I'd heard mentioned were Northampton, but again that started on a site not renowned for the reliability of it's information. Kirby did quite well for us second half of last season, when Brabin finally gave him a chance, but don't see him getting much of a look-in this season.

If the friendlies so far are anything to go by he'll be playing as a number 10 with two deeper lieing midfielders (probably Barry and Nortey) behind him.

Looks like we're taking another look at James Caton after he played and score tonight and the Cowleys seem pretty keen on Margetts, too.

Caton disappearing for 2 or 3 days then returning seems a bit weird. Something must be happening with that deal for him to come back.

We MUST sign him, it's an absolute gimme that we will benefit so much if we can get some sort of deal on the table. I do think it could be the difference between managing to nick a play off spot or not.

Not a rumour as such, but the Boreham Wood Official Twitter has announced that Yakubu will be on trial with them tomorrow which is a bit left-field, even by Conference standards.

How big is Nortey? If he hasn't any size to him then that's an incredibly small and lightweight midfield for this division, especially when you then thrown Rutherford and Evans in to the mix.

Your hope is that he links well with Jordan White, he did with a similar in stature Oli McBurnie whilst with us, but White is no McBurnie, who's been included in Swansea's first team for pre-season.

The state of Scottish football I can see McBurnie breaking into Scotland's Senior squad in the not to distant future.

According to Wikipedia he's only 32...surely not?

Didn't realise it was the ex-PL Yakubu. Surely nothing more than a fitness thing?

Whitehawk or any other conference teams, what can you tell me about David Ijaha? On trial with us and played today. Looked alright but very top heavy, not sure whether he can cope with league football.

Our latest triallists: Tyrell Waite (Notts County/Lincoln), and I think Jack Deaman (Cheltenham/Basingstoke), Ronan Murray (Notts County/Torquay), Matty Hamilton from Wigan who seems to have impressed a lot, Coughlan who saved a penalty and seems to be getting decent reports, and Sinclair (maybe Emile Sinclair?).

Ronan Murray is a midget, so the idea of Barrow signing him is nonsensical.

Was really bad when on loan with us last season and Fylde thought the same when he was with them the season before.

Coughlin isnt up to much. For a big lad he is terrified to come for high balls.

Deaman was a youth player with us
