Lincoln rumoured to be buying all of Eastleigh's and FGR's squads, for a combined £4.1m, paying each of them upwards of £3k per week.

And yet they'll still claim their not big spenders.

Newton is a spoilt child, who's ego is far bigger than his ability. Not bad at all at set pieces and bombing forward, terrible at his main job ie defending, gets caught far too often for pace and his positional sense is lacking too.

He started the season at Barrow in 2009, as a marquee signing (I think he was the England C defender at the time), but fell out with the managers and was loaned out after a couple of games. Always acted like a tit every time he's been back too. Probably best avoided if anyone's bothered about keeping a harmonious dressing room.

Danny Cowley seems pretty happy with the agreed fee as well.

"He's the best young centre-half in non-league football. He's unbelievable value for money for the club."

If Lincoln are so happy about it and got such good value for money why did they ask us not to publish the fee?

Perhaps for the same reason most clubs want transfer fees to remain undisclosed, so as to not let on what sort of money they've got knocking around?

It says nothing about the money they've got knocking around, they didn't choose the price.
This comment on our forum from Steve Parmenter says enough:
We really would have liked to disclose everything, but it would not have been right having had Lincoln ask us not to - its a professional courtesy which we may like reciprocated in future..... I think you can draw your own conclusions about why they might not want it disclosed though.

I imagine that it's not so much they don't want people to know they've got money - more that the deal came out more costly than they expected and they don't want fans to get on their backs about it.

wasn't he partly at fault for both Barrow goals when we won at Lincoln?

No, he wasn't. That was Waterfall.

We've obviously paid/going to pay more than we wanted to, that's how a tribunal works. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work that one out and we've been on both ends of that before. That said, if it's also incentivised on our success then that can't be a bad thing. Our player outlay with be in our accounts so it shouldn't be hard to spot, although those accounts won't be in until this time next year I don't think.

Sean Newton to Flyde. Or Fylde. Whatever it is he's going there.

Typical Sean Newton move. He's also good mates with Danny Rowe, who was also part of the Jon Nolan love-in here at Lincoln.

It's almost like they want to be the most hated club in non-league

Parmenter saing they wont sell Miller to another National League club.

We're going to need all of Asif's negotiating skills to get this deal done.

Apparently the word around the club is that the fee is about £75/80K and am delighted that our Chairman has turned it down. Reading his statement makes, on the face of it things perfectly clear that he will not be sold to any other National side, which also saves Miller having to make a decision.

No disrespect to FGR Chris, but though you look favourites to win the league, that doesn't mean you will, look what happened last year. I think the timing of your bid is clever as your management know only too well they can not afford to wait until January, when far more established clubs, and the way he's playing many from at least league one will be throwing their hats into the ring, and reading more of the statement you also get the impression then and only then will JP consider letting lad go, which I again think is probably the right and certainly decent thing to do

In football not for sale means raise your price. . .

If we really want him we can easily have him. .

I'm not sure he Jim would sell to a club in the league. The amount you'd have to pay to make him change his mind would be far more than he's actually worth.

I would like to think, even if FGR had an offer accepted, (and can any NL club really turn down 80K - £100k to keep a player for few months as would be the case in Jan) that Miller himself would turn them down. Yes they could probably match, hell beat most of the Div 2 salaries, problem is regardless of how much Chris thinks winning the league is all but done, it isn't, and am sure on top of the money, Miller want to ply his trade back in the FL and joining FG does not provide that guarantee

Another stone in the ointment, and surely would kill all this speculation at a stroke, is if Cooper is offered the MK job, lets see what happens to the all conquering Forest Green confidence then?

Apparently Joe Healy is signing for Dover
Real shitty move on his front, we held a place for him why he went traveling and as soon as he gets match fit he ups and leaves

If he does indeed do that then we're fucked. We need to improve in midfield, I guarantee Jay knows that, but we were expecting Healy to come back and help improve things, and if Dover take him from us now then that's 2 months wasted when we could have been improving.

With FL clubs not able to bid, our interest will probably flush out Lincoln's properly as well. Rather then Cowley doing his sneaky tapping up/get the players head turned tactic he's going to have to put his clubs money where his mouth is.

Be interesting to see which club would win a bidding war, not sure we could match moneybags Lincoln ultimately but they would probably need to go to around 2-250k. Seems the player would prefer a move here going by his comments, but money talks and Lincoln have lots of it.

Reckon he'll end up staying at Dover until next summer though and then move on a free to a league club, possibly us.

Tbf, Dover's Chairman did say that when he moves on, it'll be to a big club with good league pedigree so that counts you out on both counts.

Who needs Miller when you've got Matthew Rhead, eh? :animatedf:
