One of our local papers is reporting that we're thought to have made a 6 figure bid for Miller.

Only six figures? Lincoln are going to BLOW YOU OUT OF THE WATER with their offer.

Old swampy is desperate for promotion and 100k plus is nothing to him. Dover would be stupid to turn that down when he can just walk for free next summer.

Someone on Southport's forum seems to thinking they're weighing up a bid for Callum Howe from us, who is currently on loan there (and Captain, which is unusual for a player on a short term loan). Not sure we'd let him go tbh or that Southport will have enough to tempt us. Not that he'll go for silly money, but what they can afford probably won't tempt us.

Also rumours around here again that Margetts is coming back on loan having only made one sub appearance (and one goal) at Scunny.

Not that the FGR and Eastleigh fans will believe us but our record fee for a player is 75k twice, once for Dean Walling in 1997 and in 1998 for Tony Battersby.

Tony Battersby, what a blast from the past that is.

I see Chris Kinnear is being a cry baby again...

Chris Kinnear has accused the clubs openly coveting Dover’s 15-goal top scorer Ricky Miller of acting without class.

The Whites boss stopped short of saying who he was referring to, but only last week National League leaders Forest Green were linked with a move for the striker, and outspoken Lincoln boss Danny Cowley has also previously gone on record saying he is a big fan of Miller.

The 27-year-old former Luton forward is under contract at Crabble until the summer and Kinnear said the recent speculation had been disrespectful, both to Whites and the player.

He said: “It’s none of our business, it’s the business of the two sides who are ranting on about it and talking about it.

“If you have a bit of class and dignity you don’t talk about other people’s players but some people don’t do they? They just get on with it.

“We try to sign players but we don’t talk about them and the best managers don’t but the ones who are bit full of themselves they tend to mention it.

“I don’t know what they’re trying to do but they’re not going to pull him away from us. If he does move on that’s one of those things but for the moment he’s playing for Dover and that’s the best thing we can hope for.”

Last week Dover chairman Jim Parmenter issued a statement in response to a piece in the Stroud News and Journal saying Forest Green were attempting to prise Miller away from Crabble.

He told the club’s website: “Ricky is not for sale. He is under contract at this club and is a big part of our push to promotion this season.

“We would not consider selling Ricky to a club at our level and believe if and when he finally moves on it will be to a big club with good league pedigree.”

Mr Kinnear should be careful about what he says. At no point has Cooper or anyone else from our club ever said anything publicly about Miller.

OUTSPOKEN Lincoln boss Danny Cowley has though.

True. CK must have been talking about him then.

Our club has acted with class, as usual. Cowley could learn a lot from the way we conduct ourselves.

He doesn't need to be careful at all Chris as he has not mentioned any names. But whilst I can see both sides, or am at least trying to, your bias appears to grow with each post on this one. Whilst you may be factually correct about MC not saying anything publicly, I think it's beyond dispute, that someone has most certainly been speaking to at least the local press, and whoever that person is definitely comes from within the football club. You may separate the two, I can't, as one is as blatant as the other.
From Kinnears perspective the only real gripe he's got is that such tittle tattle may certainly unsettle the player, a player that is currently glueing his side together and when he hits a dry spell, and all forwards do, he knows on evidence witnessed this season that the team will really struggle.
Do agree though Chris, tis all a bit melodramatic and the criticism slightly OTT, because as surely as night follows day, if a Div 2 side makes such a bid in January, I rather think, and rightly so I'm afraid to say that Miller will be off

I agree it isn't great when speculation unsettles players, but it's part of football. Quality players will always be in demand, but no one is forcing you to sell. We have lots of scouts at our games, and I wouldn't be shocked if one or two of our key players are the subject of bids in January. If a key player leaves, no complaints, we'll just have to replace them.

It wasn't long ago we used to lose our best players all the time as we couldn't match what a lot of other clubs paid at this level. It was frustrating but we accepted it and got on with it. Which is what you should be doing now.

Kinnear would do well to remember how Dover behaved in signing Jack Parkinson

The bizarreness from Kinnear continues, Dover put in a 7 day approach for Joe Healy... without bothering to tell us.
