Apparently Luke Summerfield was at our game yesterday. Yep that Luke Summerfield. You know the one.

Anyone able to tell me who the fuck is Luke Summerfield?
Hurst signed him on a 2 year contract, mental. Shows signs of promise with attacking play and good finishing. Mixed in with that are a load of brainfarts where he gives the ball away, usually with some weird no-look pass. Very energetic. Seems a nice guy but not a fighter.

If you can take him from us permanently, that'd be great!

Summerfield is decent but prone to giving the ball away, as usual he had a bad game not helped by playing with Berrett and our fans gave him abuse and then we signed a few more midfieders so he put in a transfer request.

We have now signed better midfielders this Jan, but good luck to him, hope it works out. He will be a good signing for this level.

Jack Thomas is a great signing for this level but I'm not sure he's right for a Paul Cox side.

Hopefully he gets some vital game time to return to first team dutys next season.

What sort of midfielder is he? If he's a flair player, then yeah, he's wasted, but we've had a young battling midfielder for the first half of the season who thrived.

He's great on the ball, likes to run with the ball and got a good cross on him.

He will get stuck in but I'm not sure 'battling' is the correct term. Inexperience is evident though.

Technically he's decent and at one point clubs above were apperantly interested but the injury at the start of the season ruined his momentum.

How is Meikle doing?

Ah, okay - it sounds like he'll be playing either side of a midfield three.
Meikle has barely had a start, just because we've stuck with the same XI most weeks. He looks a useful sub, but that's all he's been reduced to, unfortunately. Will no doubt be out at the end of the season.

We're in for a young Grimsby defender, apparently.

Yeah no surprise with Meikle, typical lower/non-league winger end product is near non-existent.

Is Cox still playing his tradition style of football then?

Apparently we play hoofball, and are a dirty side.
We do okay for a bunch of big lads, and have been known to break out into playing football on the odd occasion.

Barrow are a typical Cox side in many ways, team of giants. Surprisingly shit at defending set pieces though.

Probably be Dan Jones then, bought from Hartlepool in the Summer and I don't think he's played a game yet.
Edit: just seen he's on loan at Gateshead already so maybe not then!

Yeah that sounds like a Cox side.

As far as I can see, that was just a one-month deal - definitely fits the bill as we need cover at left-back and centre-back.

Ahh right it probably is him then as I can't think of any other young defenders we have who are available.

Be afraid NL defences, apparently we've got Omar Bogle training with us!

If it was him, then he's probably been promised a start, where as he'd be on our bench. We've only got four defenders in the squad at the moment.

Rumours on our site that John Rooney is going to Guiseley till the end of the season.

He's just hit a rich vein of form so if true that is a shame.

unsure either way if he does go, he was pretty average for the first half of the season at best.. might blame Mills for that one as well.

Going to adopt the attitude of "good riddance we can do better" if he goes and "fantastic news, great player on his day" if he re-signs with us.

Also, if Rooney does go, he will follow the long list of every top scorer for the season leaving us since 2010/11.. (none of this squad will score 10+ goals in games remaining)
10/11: Mangan, 11/12: Speight, 12/13: Danny Wright, 13/14: Jonny Hunt, 14/15: Moult, 15/16: Vose (in January), then Jennings. 16/17: Rooney?
some list

Yeah pretty much my feelings. Would be a shame but he does blow hot and cold and I certainly wouldn't want us to give him an improved contract.

Isn't Rooney due an improved deal if he plays another game for Wrexham?

I've seen mention of a deal with Rovers, Adam Mekki and some cash going the other way, but would be very surprised at that happening.

John Rooney, the ultimate definition of a mid-table player in this division. Good enough to give you flashes that make you wonder why he isn't playing higher, but mostly anonymous and ineffectual against the heavyweight sides.
