Seen people suggest that it's Andy Mangan. But then our fan base seems to be infatuated with him so could just be that.
Would be surprised if that happened at this point, because Stockton's gone and youngsters Omatola and Ilesamni released. Currently, Mangan aside, that leaves us with Cook, Norwood who's incapable of converting one-on-ones and Stephenson, raw and returning from injury. Tollit and Kirby, both returning from injury could play forward,, but probably not their best position. Bring someone else eg Amond in and Mangan could be surplus to requirements.

Fingers crossed.
Been dismal in his second coming but could still do a job for someone maybe even us.

Why does everyone think Amond would go to another team in this league? He's still under contract and if I were Pools, I'd point blank reject any bids from non league sides, there'd be absolute fucking hell on if Amond joined Tranmere (or any other team here), there really would be. That would very swiftly send me to a 'no' for season ticket renewal.

Honestly, Amond seems like a decent bloke who has his head screwed on. After spending years down here and finally getting his big break last season, why'd he want to return here again?

*edit - just waiting for the Mail headline saying that Amond's going to Tranmere by Tuesday evening.

He only spent one season in the Conference?

Maybe he doesn't want to play for a basket case team?

And he spent one year down here with Grimsby, the previous four he was in league 2, and didn't get relegated any of those times, so I don't think joining Hartlepool can be considered his big break

Okay, got it wrong, I now do recall he played for Morecambe (?) in L2

As for big break, I meant last season was his big break in his career sense, obviously didn't phrase it right. He got 14 odd in a relegated side, first time he's really scored regularly in a higher league so in that way, he's had a big break to being an established FL striker. So that's why I questioned if he would return to the Conference

Amond doesn't deserve to be back playing in the conference, one of the few bright spots in a dismal season, wouldn't begrudge him wanting to leave but if he wants to go set your sights a big higher than another non league team.

I think you are right he probably won't want to play in the conference again and surely he'll get league offers but if he has to play in the conference. A team like Tranmere would be a better bet to get out of it than Hartlepool as it stands.

Hi Soup Ladle, just wondering what you think of your signing of Luke George from us? When we signed him from Southport 2 years ago he was the North West Conference player of the season. He's missed 50 % of games through injury, missed 6 games for biting, last season and generally been poor. Most Chester fans are grateful that he's gone. Still hope he works out for you.

Andy Cook said he'd move to a league side from Barrow but shipped up at Tranmere. Amond could do better joining Rovers than a L2 struggler.

I don't know if there is any evidence of Rovers making an offer for Amond. At a recent meeting with fans, Mark Palios said that we were looking to bring in a couple of players as well as Dunn and that we'd put a bid in for one. Main requirements are a striker and a central defender with pace, but no knowledge who we're actually targeting.

I'm not so daft as to think that Tranmere aren't a bigger club than us but our board must be mental to sell him to a team who very well could be our close rivals next season, the bloke got 30+ goals in his last stint in the conference, if we want to get out at the first attempt keeping him is vital, if he wants to leave just make sure he ends up back in the league.

Be mega disappointed in the club if he ends up at Tranmere.

The difference was that he was out of contract - I'm not sure we'd have sold to another conference side. Also, Cook only went to Tranmere after whoring himself out to all the League 2 clubs, but nobody wanted him - I don't blame him for signing for the biggest club in non-league, but it was almost a last resort (Eastleigh was the last, last resort).
Can't see Amond having no options in League 2.

I can't see Hartlepool being one of the clubs challenging for first place next year. Maybe if they keep Magnay and Amond and add players of a similar calibre. There are half a dozen better teams on paper already

Broadly agree with this. Many of the Pools players will be unfamiliar with this level, likewise their manager, so don't expect them to hit the ground running. Play-offs under new arrangement their best bet.

I would have Amond back at Blundell Park in a heartbeat.

Even more importantly they don't have a manager who is familiar with this league. Dagenham and Cheltenham both did exactly the right thing by having Johnson and Still as their manager. Aldershot under Waddock have improved immeasurably. Tranmere and Mellon too. I don't think the importance of that can be overstated.

Most of us are just happy we've got a players who's physical & sounds a bit nasty,as we haven't had a player like that for ages now.
Sounds a bit of a lose cannon, but if Harrrison can get him to channel his aggression, than great.
We've had too many soft players in the side recently & that cost us our league place this season

Hardly think that biting another player counts as being physical.

The NLP have linked us to Sam Magri of Dover.

Seems like he's opted to leave Dover, with Fleetwood, Rochdale, Bradford, Peterborough, Hibernian and Motherwell in for him as well.

I keep seeing suggestions that Tom Denton could be on his way to join us. I know we tried to sign him last summer but he ultimately decided to go join Halifax.

You'd have thought he might like to give the Conference Premier a crack seeing as he's won promotion to that division 2 season's on the trot?!

Needless to say he'd compliment our forward line well so would be a welcomed acquisition if he does leave Halifax.

According to a poster on W2R, we are due to announce a couple of signings this afternoon. One rumour going round is that one of them could be Adam Dugdale who has recently left Eastleigh.

We've been "very close" to signing a midfielder and a winger for about a week now, and I reckon they may be announced tomorrow with the chairman in town for a meet the manager type thing taking place in the evening. I'm expecting we could see Jack Thomas back from Mansfield.

Did he shag your lass or grind mud into your living room carpet or something, we get it, you don't rate him

None of those things you mentioned. He's always injured or suspended and when he plays he's Conference North standard at best. And he's not a hard man. Good luck to him all the same. The players train in Total Fitness and he was always happy to chat with us supporters who recognised him.
