Dayle Southwell has followed Alfreton on twitter. Scored a bucket load at Boston 5 years ago. Still only 27. Whats he like nowadays?

Just looked him up, didn't realise how well he did after leaving us for Boston, looks like a classic case of performing well then moving up too many leagues in one go and losing that form.

He was only 17 I think when he broke through into our first team admittedly, but he never really looked league standard.

Any idea who Cummings and Hobson are? Hobson was on the bench for your first friendly, Cummings for them both. Apparently Hobson isn’t Craig, from what an Alfreton fan on Twitter has told me

Cheers for that mate. Some potentially decent signings so far from you guys given how poor you were last year

Yeah I was a bit pessimistic about our chances but we have made a few decent signings. Thought we looked a tad short up front but Southwell is a decent addition and I could have sworn he was older than 27

Yeah, feels like he’s been around forever. Bit more traditional BH football now I’d guess with that lump Rhead up top

Good stuff, you lot and Darlo are the two I'd like to see back up here if we're gonna be sticking around for a bit. Would be nice to see an ex-Mariner academy graduate banging them in for you.

That's a really difficult question! Motivated and in a good frame of mind I'd say yes. Otherwise, just a passenger. First season with us he was ok but went missing far too much. However I would say, for me, he was one of the reasons we stayed up that season, when Bond came in Dieng suddenly came alive, tackling more, putting in a real shift and was a real threat from set pieces.
Come the start of the next season and lazy Dieng returned. Then enter Campbell who played him centre back and in an incredibly shite team he was one of the highlights, Campbell definitely appeared to motivate him more than any manager he played under here.
Then the last season, which I didn't see as much of, he went back to centre mid and was more often than not lazy Dieng, sauntering about like we could afford to have a luxury player (which he really isn't).

Phil Brown wants him to stay, reckons we've made him a good offer, but he hasn't returned to training, as a free agent that's up to him. Up to me I wouldn't have offered him anything, he's part of the last 3 years of abject failure and one who for 75% of the time didn't even look bothered.

The Quigley runour won't go away. Someone is claiming he's having his medical with us tomorrow We shall see.

A rumour from the left field is Ollie Clarke, who appears to be under contract at Mansfield? I think this one may be completely made up

Cheers for the reply.

Sounds like he has something positive to his game but also seems like he only responds to certain managers/ playing partners. From what I’ve seen of him on the obligatory highlights reel, he looks like he can pass and has a nice touch for a big lad. But then anyone could look good from their best clips!

If we get him, hopefully Taylor can get him playing well and he can become a good signing but he does remind me of Nigel Atangana who we signed from Cheltenham a couple of years ago. Looks good for a bit but then goes missing too often. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Quigley rumours gathering momentum on our messageboard.

Someone is going to be disappointed.

Hes tweeted his goodbyes to Barrow, says he's moving to be closer to home. Which could mean any of us! (although suggests us or Shrewsbury)
Would've thought he'd mean us, as don't Barrow train in Manchester? A move closer to home surely wouldn't mean a few miles away.

yeah you'd think, presumably he's living in Manchester already... but we are Wrexham aren't we?

you would also imagine that him tweeting that today, means he will be announced somewhere else today also

I'm still a bit worried, naturally.

We don't usually announce signings until teatime either so it could be some wait!

We’re the same usually don’t do it to late afternoon/tea time.

The guy who has said he’s coming to us on our forum is usually right but everything points to you guys getting him.

I think either club make sense. Not having to go to Barrow for games is a significant chunk of time hed be saving, also it depends if he's talking about hes home being Manchester or Shrewsbury/Oswestry. I can't see him going off to L1 (and I think his goodbye message would read differently if he was off to the Slops)

Sounds like we will find out today

He’s not League One level. Whoever is getting him is stumping up £150k though I reckon. He’s a very good striker but not worth anything like that.

I’m pretty certain he still lives in Maesbrook just outside of Oswestry with his mrs.

I reckon he’s coming to either yourselves or us.

I don't think he's good enough for your level tbh. Although If he does end up with you can't begrudge a player going to the club he supports.

How's Rekeil Pyke, I didn't realise he was with you untllil recently?

If he helps gets you promotion and then provides goals at the level above I think that’s a fair enough price.

Isn’t he almost 30 as well or something? Going for it territory IMO.
