I don't think he's good enough for your level tbh. Although If he does end up with you can't begrudge a player going to the club he supports.

How's Rekeil Pyke, I didn't realise he was with you untllil recently?
The less said about Pyke the better. The fact Ricketts gave him a 3 year deal last summer has to make Pyke his worst bit of business. Never a football league player let alone League 1 player!

Steve Cotterill has been trying to shift him since he came in but unfortunately there’s nobody daft enough to take him. Luckily he’s behind Bowman & Udoh at the minute and we’re still after a 4th striker.

Wikipedia describes this guy as 6ft 4, fast, two footed, great goal record and a great ball player on the ground.

Sounds like he should be worth 150m.

Ricketts! of course, yeah Pyke looked ok for us....but no more than that so I was surprised to see him in your squad.

Sad to see that the might of Hollywood and all those sponsorships still can’t compete financially with whoever it is that owns Stockport. A real shame.

More seriously - can you fit Madden, Quigley and Rooney into a balanced team? I would say that’s a bit of a struggle. Let alone Whitfield and Reid.

We would need Bill Gates to join the board to be able to compete with Stockport and their mysterious backers.

Nothing mysterious about Mark Stott. It's all out there. Local boy done good. He's put a lot in off the pitch aswell. Definitley quite wealthy, don't know exaclty how much.

Doesn't mean anything re: Quigley though. If it's location, sounds like Wrexham are the shout.

We definitley need a big physical striker who can get in behind etc. Cardwell was trying to be it and started well but wasn't good enough really.

Someone of Quigley's profile should be our number 1 target tbh.

433 guvnor.

Madden played out wide in that formation for Fleetwood, so him one side roaming then Whitfield the other side holding the width and Quigley in the centre. Reid off the bench.

The creativity/goals from Rooney in a three with the energy of Croasdale and then hopefully a new holding midfielder with some height to compliment them should work well.

I see the Wrexham forum has gone from nailed on he’s signing to there is no evidence we were ever in for him.

Same guy who's calling Quigley is saying that Ben Barclay is still a done deal. He's listed as a DM or CB. It'll be interesting where he plays for us. Maybe he is coming as a DM which indicates the formation change?

Only issue with 4-3-3 is, is MSH and Kitching solid enough for back 4 full backs. MSH could play further forward at times I suppose.

We need to start attacking more though next season. The champions of this league need to score goals, goals, goals. Passing round the back with 3 central defender and two holding midfielder is not attacking football in my book. No matter how much modern football leans towards possession being king etc.

Barclay was a big, clumsy centre back (albeit one who clearly had some potential) when we had him on loan. Can’t really see him as a midfield particularly.

On your last bit, my one Notts prediction I’m happy to make ahead of next season is that we’ll score the most goals in the league. We might well concede far too many for us to be in contention, but we will be bringing the fun.

If Quigley signs for Stockport over Wrexham I am officially calling the Hollywood Project over.

Be surprised if Reynolds ever shows his face in North Wales after such an indignity.

Maybe people will start to realise that they aren't going to try and buy the league.

If Quiglwley really does come with an 150k fee I really don't think it would be us in for him anyway .

I said last year we'd do play-offs and crash and burn. I got stick for it saying I was downplaying us and had fellow County mates telling me I was negative etc. Never fancied us all season.

I don't like making predictions until I'm sure which will require me to watch a few games of the new season but I said when we were bumped out of the Play Offs that we'd go again. My instinct is I do fancy us for the league this year but that's a hunch. A lot of work to do and I'm still not sold on Rusk.

We’re the same usually don’t do it to late afternoon/tea time.

The guy who has said he’s coming to us on our forum is usually right but everything points to you guys getting him.
He's signing for you, resigned myself to it.

No doubt those telling us that he's signing for us on red passion feel pleased about themselves.

Accrington site list him as a DM/CB because when he first joined Coleman tried him out there.

But I did some digging on him and he quickly moved back to his natural CB position where he’d always played at City/Brighton/Notts County and that’s where he made all his starts in League One last season.

So I think he’ll be competing with Ash and Hogan which would make sense with Stott going, Jennings not suitable as a CB in a back four and Keane not good enough to be play there regularly.

Both Kitching and MSH played in a back four at Hartlepool so don’t see that being a problem especially if we have a good holding midfielder plus Croasdale in the team to fill gaps when they go forward. If you want to be more solid in some games then you can bring in Sam or JJ.

I’m not ruling him out turning up at Chesterfield after James Rowe decided he’s already bored of new signing Stefan Payne

I’m making you favourites, and I think unless someone does something drastic then your team is going to be the most balanced and deep in the division. I agree on Rusk, though, last season it was too many draws and not quite enough goals that cost you and with the players you had I’m struggling to see that as being down to personnel rather than the approach. The possession for its own sake and overvaluing the draw things are what stopped us getting promoted under Ardley IMO.

Funnily enough, I popped onto their forum earlier to see what people made of Taylor, and there’s already a thread worrying that Danny Rowe is off because he’s not been seen at pre-season training.

Think we’ve realised that and that’s why it looks like we’re giving up on the 352.

When teams defend deep against us (and most did) it’s a complete waste having a 5th tier CB as your spare man when in possession. It also complicated things with Rooney/Madden in big games as we had zero pace centrally and we didn’t trust Rooney from a defensive perspective deeper so we played him as a 10 where he’s rubbish.

Yeah, I agree.

Rusk was trying to get them to play youth team football last season. We got results up to a point because of the quality of our players.

The coaching staff need to realise this is not the time for re-inventing the wheel, we've got the players to get out of this division. Keep it simple, play to their strengths, attack in numbers etc. They're good players at this level but no point trying to turn them into this ultra possession team.

I never once thought I'd ever see a TUG OF WAR over one of our players.

He goes with my thanks and best wishes etc. I don't care where he ends up as long as we get a decent bit of cash and it isn't to a club in our league.

$tockport putting up a valiant effort to claw back Chesterfield in this title race just when it looked all over. Going to the wire this one, lads.
