Madden’s wage is going up by £1k a week every time someone posts about it haha. I doubt it’ll be that much anyway, same with Quigley, it’s the security of the three year deals (and decent wages, imagine both are north of £2k a week). Very few three year contracts handed out at this level - we’ve given some to our obvious resale assets but that’s about it.

Back in the NLN in 10 years after going bust in 5?
Wrexham fans didn’t seem to care about our long-term future when we signed Madden. Funny how you do now after getting taken over and beaten to the signing of Quigley.

You’ve essentially been taken over for the purpose a TV documentary so let’s just enjoy our individual rides and hope it doesn’t end in disaster for either of us.

After us becoming a mid-table NLN side not so long ago and you guys being stuck her for what seems like eternity it’s good that the brotherhood is being bankrolled rather than the non entities like the Forest Greens, Fleetwoods and Salfords of the past decade.

Sad to see that the might of Hollywood and all those sponsorships still can’t compete financially with whoever it is that owns Stockport. A real shame.

More seriously - can you fit Madden, Quigley and Rooney into a balanced team? I would say that’s a bit of a struggle. Let alone Whitfield and Reid.
Reid's place will be on the bench

Known as the Akinde Effect. Used to wind up the Lincoln lot devastatingly well in the summer of 2018.

Just a little joke, I genuinely wish you well.

Prefer this to having our best player pinched by Fleetwood halfway through the season.

A major signing (or two) doesn't make anyone champions but the 11/2 at Billies & B365 does look to be well on the large side.

Back in the paupers’ world, a bit of Twitter detective work seems to think we’ve got Lamine Sherif training with us. A midfielder once of Leicester, most recently of Accrington.

Beyond a few fans on our forum, and wishful thinking on our part, there was no indication we were ever in for Quigs. As he can't head the ball I suspect he isn't a Parkinson type forward anyway.

Also the documentary thing is not true. If Ryan Reynolds (Holywood A list) and Rob McElhenney (producer of two successful shows including the longest running live action show on US TV) just wanted a documentary do you think they would need to go to the trouble of buying a non league team thousands of miles away? and invested heavily into the infrastructure of that club? they'd just have to ring up Netflix and pitch them an idea about pretty much anything. The documentary is part of the marketing strategy for the club, not the other way around.

That, however, is true.

Can we have some other rumours please. The last 37 pages have been about $cott Quigley.

Has legendary Byron Harrison joined anyone yet? Stinks of someone like Maidenhead to me.

Okay we've all had our fun with Quigley, but serious reflection time...it's gonna be interesting to see what happens with these budgets if the 900k does kick in next season. Not a dig at Stockport either, there's no chance we're gonna be anywhere near that but thankfully we've handed out a fair few one year deals.

He scored 15 in a struggling Barrow side in League Two last season as well.

You wouldn’t fight over someone who can lead the line and has scored 35 goals combined over the last two seasons at this level and the one above?
I haven't seen much of him since we had him on loan but he's had a couple of decent seasons. Before that he wasn't really doing a right lot.

He's 29 so that's a fair bit of time when he wasn't prolific.

Certain players click with certain clubs and they can never really replicate it elsewhere. Time will tell. He might be a great signing.

It would be an absolutely huge coincidence that you’d be heavily linked with an in contract striker for a week leading up to him leaving for another club do you not think?

We're today's bad guys for rescheduling a fixture and signing a striker.

Lets get back to talking about Chesterfield I reckon.

As we speak Rowe is glaring at his players through a crack in the blinds in his office, daring one to look his way so he can ship him out and replace him with a new player.

Wow didn't even consider that this Quigley signing was merely a superbly executed smokescreen to deflect attention away from the Grimsby fixture debacle. Well played Stockport, well played.

If it happens (I doubt it will), it’d be almost definitely be phased in so players signed before it only count an average wage towards it or whatever.

It would be. But we do have a prior connection with him after all. Possibly his agent has been looking for new clubs in the NW for him, there are only a few likely candidates really and we are both ones you'd thinkight be interested. There was another runour that we weren't prepared to meet a players valuation, so maybe that was him.

Who knows? I doubt we'd be prepared to pay him 10k wages.

Didn’t he score shitloads for TNS and also have a loan spell at Wrexham where he scored around 1 in 2?

I heard he asked for 10k a week and we negotiated him up to 12k.

I feel like I shouldn't be too critical of his reasons for leaving for Stockport (especially given it mentions the loss of a family member), but the "being closer to home" would have made a lot more sense had he joined Wrexham or Shrewsbury. He may be away from home for a decent chunk given the LAVISH hotels Stockport will be staying in prior to away games.
